I TOTALLY lucked out! I was looking for an electrician for a small job (i.e., relocating a 220v…read moreoutlet). If you have ever looked for a contractor, I'm sure you know what it's like (e.g., they may not call you back, may ghost on you, and most likely they overcharge you). Nate from Illuminate Pro Electric was totally different. As I elaborate below, Nate was a game changer. He was responsive; he showed up when he said he would; his rate was more than reasonable. ILLUMINATE PRO ELECTRIC Nate is an experienced licensed electrician (of course, insured and bonded). I highly recommend you to go to his website and read about his business. One thing to keep in mind, as mentioned on the website, he is the owner and the operator (i.e., no employees). So, he may or may not be available (when you need his service). I was lucky. I sent him a message through his website. Nate responded to me the same day, and it just so happened that he was available for the type/size of job I needed help with. COMMUNICATION Very responsive. After the initial message I sent to him, we exchanged a couple of emails and texts back and forth. As it turned out, he was available next day, and he did show up at the time he promised. It worked out great for me, but please have a realistic expectation as he has to do everything for his business. JOB PERFORMED Nate moved the 220v outlet behind the stove for me. He had to cut part of the wall, but he fixed the wall too. I cannot be happier with his work. COST His hourly rate was more than reasonable. He had to go out to get material to fix the wall, but he did not charge me for the time to go get the material. The total amount I paid (hourly labor and parts) was clearly lower than a few other bids I had received from other companies in town. Billing was easy and transparent. He emailed me an invoice with a link for payment. I just used my credit card. No extra fees or anything. His invoice was itemized (i.e., materials used and their costs along with his hourly rate). FINAL WORDS I appreciate Nate's professionalism. He is not only an experienced electrician but has a very high work ethics. He is upfront and transparent. He's professional, but not an uptight way. He's actually very personable. It was clear to me that he was eager to help me. When a homeowner is looking for a contractor, whether an electrician or a plumber, we are stressed out. Nate completely took the stress out of my stressful situation. Nate is flat out the best electrician we have ever used, and personable and honest to boot!…read more After being "ghosted" by one local electrical company and given a "we really dont want your business" outrageous bid by another we were fortunate to contact Nate. He responded very quickly. We told him we wanted an outdoor dawn to dusk security light installed but really didnt know what options we had. Nate explained what could be done , gave us suggestions as to what he thought was best and gave us a very reasonable bid. He explained his work situation to us and was able to complete the job, as well as replacing an indoor fixture, in a very timely manner. In addition to doing an excellent job he was kind enough to tell us he would bill our home warranty policy for a portion of the work he performed. This saved us over 100 dollars. How many contractors would do that for a new customer and a relatively small job? My wife and i recommend Nate in as strongest terms as possible. He made this experience as stress free as possible, something greatly appreciated after moving over 1500 miles back to Washington. Mills Electric made me feel like we are part of a team that was working together to get power restored to my home after a huge tree fell onto a power line and damaged the weather head on my roof. The power company came out and cut my power and told me it wasn't safe to have power hooked up to my home until 1) I had the tree removed (my dime) 2) had an electrician replace the weather head and check the meter and 3) have an inspector from the Dept. Of Labor and Industries inspect this very minor repair. Bellingham had just had a snowstorm with high winds and below freezing temperatures and we are currently bracing for another storm. I understood PSE's rationale but the fact was they left me without power and just expected $2,500 worth of work to happen immediately on my part to keep my family safe and warm. "That's part of being a home owner" is all they said. Challenge accepted. The tree was gone in an hour and Mills came in and did their work but also helped me get the permit going and left a copy with me so that PSE would have no choice but to reinstall power today. I am grateful for their help. I cannot imagine the alternative right now, while my toes are finally thawing. Everyone was nothing but helpful and respectful.
