Rayan's is still one of my favorites and a neighborhood staple! The staff really sets it apart, it's a family-owned business and everyone is always welcoming and helpful. Rayan's covers the gamut when it comes to alcoholic beverages, they really do have everything. Plus, it's very clean, well-stocked, and organized. Anytime we are in a pinch, we swing by here because it's so close. There are also multiple BYOB restaurants on the block, so the location is very convenient folks who want to grab a bottle of wine or a six-pack to enjoy at dinner. As far as service goes, you're not going to find a better experience in any other liquor store. The staff is quick to give insight on recommendations regarding any type of liquor, wine, and beer. The interior design is well thought out, organize, and homey. I've stepped in multiple times to find the staff in full blown laughter and conversation with a myriad of different folks. I discovered Rayan's via Drizly - and I'm so glad I did! Selection/prices are very good (especially for craft beer) and, unlike my previous go-to delivery source, carries La Croix. Best of all, delivery is fast!!! Highly recommend. read more

I'm late! I'm late for a very important date! And by "date", I mean hanging with Matty Z.. And by "hanging", I mean drinking. Running behind and in need of a B to BYO, I popped into Rayan's Discount Liquors with low expectations of at least finding a 40 oz. of PBR. What I walked into was a hidden gem in the Uptown area! Rayan's carries craft beers, Strongbow in bottles, a decent selection of wines, and even chilled bottles of Vueve. What the...?! My brain was not prepared for this many choices. Rayan's is manned by a delightful older gentleman who puts the customer back in customer service. This little liquor store is a treat. read more

Best liquor store in the area. They have everything you might need plus some bare minimum convenience store goods such as lighters, frozen dinners, ice cream, tobacco products, soda, and other items of the sort. Prices are fair and the lady who works sometimes has an adorable dog who she brings in sometimes. I've always had great service here. Love this spot. read more

If you read my review of the Rayan's (Mr. Rayan is apparently the Starbucks of Ravenswood) a block north, and I you know did, feel free to apply it to this one as well. There's no point in clogging up the tubes with redundancies. I do, for some reason, think of this as the nicer Rayan's. Does Rayan's Discount Liquors need a review? No. The breadth and depth of the transactions that are conducted here do not require exposition - just consult that name. Yet Mextico (fine Mexican cuisine) is across the street and requires you to BYOB. I would not hesitate to, once again, to get my B at RDL. I found the Dogfish Head Raison D'Etre (former American beer of the year) in RDL astride the standard set of domestic and quasi-imports. Selection is ample. Add to that the friendly cigar chomping, hockey watching gentlemen behind the counter and we have a genuine Chicago institution. read more

When I bought my condo six years ago, I was delighted that Rayan's was across the street. They have an excellent selection of wine at reasonable prices. I love Rayan's. I can get something fancy enough so many parents can make their cocktails, as well as some whiskey cheap enough that I don't mind murdering it with honey and lemon for my wintertime toddies. It's more or less what I want from a corner liquor store. It's clean, it's well lit, it's got a not unfriendly people working there. It's got booze. It's got beer. (There's wine, too, but I don't drink that, so I'd rather they use the sapce for beer.) It's not huge, so the selection isn't wonderful, and the pricing isn't the best. But it's not somewhere you'd trek to, so I don't think that's a problem. read more

I purchased a keg from Rayan's and they were great every step along the way. First, they were able to get a premium brand (Oberon!) no problem. Second, they didn't blanch when I changed my order from 2 kegs to 1. (Note: they didn't have the keg in stock yet - special orders have to be in by Thursday for weekend pick-up). Third, they were incredibly nice when I picked up the keg. Fourth, they were flexible and didn't charge more when I returned the empty after four days. I would definitely recommend Rayan's. read more
