Took me a while to post here because I was so upset over breaking my right wrist back in October 2019. After crying my A** off when I broke it I needed a follow up with an Orthopedic Surgeon. This office was able to schedule me in the soonest and I'm glad I requested Dr. Raven. His entire staff is welcoming and when you have an appointment , they see you on time! Mostly all the time! Very efficient office with other Orthopedic Surgeons there too but it doesn't hinder or slow down on your appointment. They've got it all handled here. Dr. Raven was always attentive and listened to all my concerns. I wore a cast for 6 weeks and followed up as often as Dr. Raven suggested. Thankfully, surgery was not needed. I've been to Dr. Raven's office twice, so far. My initial experience is that he is compassionate and listens to you. For my situation he is carefully doing tests and assessing what the root of the problem is before a diagnosis. I like that he doesn't jump to conclusions but wants a complete picture before moving forward. This place is a rip off! Stay away. I went in as I hand an injury on my finger that has been plaguing me. I didn't meet with the doctor but instead met with his assistant, Omar. He told me there was nothing wrong with my finger and that I just had to live with the pain. When I asked him if there was a cyst on the bone (which is what someone else had told me it might be), his response was, "No. It's not that. Let me show you." He then held the ultra sound up to my finger for 20 seconds and said "See. No cyst." Cut to me being billed $400 for an ultrasound that was not needed. Aside from the fact that it was an erroneous diagnosis and I had to waited an hour to see the assistant... stay far away from this place. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Raven for many years, having first visited him after breaking my elbow. It was the most courteous and professional experience I've ever had with any medical practitioner and each visit is usually faster than any doctor visit I can possibly remember, having been seen to and treated in less time than most offices would take to get you in the exam room in the first place. But don't let that speed and rapidity fool you, Dr. Raven takes his time and makes sure your questions and concerns are all addressed! I have mix feelings about this location. The knee therapist at this location was amazing, friendly, supportive, informative. On the other hand Dr raven was quick to judge me and my injuries, rushed to make me feel that my injuries weren't really there and that all the drs I had previously seen were basically making things up.. even if my MRI showed my injuries. I like doctors who are direct and professional. I felt neither from this dr.. a lot of unprofessional opinions from a Dr that is tired of dealing with patients unfortunately. Dr. Raven if you want to call him a doctor is a narcissistic bully who completely ruined both of my hands. After questioning him about the condition of my hands after surgery, he became verbally abusive in his office to me, to the point of him standing up and squaring up as if to fight. His nurses heard the commotion and had to come in to calm things down. Even in the surgery, he was extremely rough without needing to be. Dr Raven really needs to be counseled, I really don't understand a person that goes to school for years to get an education to become a doctor and has the mentality to treat and talk down to his patience as less than. People go to Med school to learn how to help and fix peoples problems. I had a mountain biking accident and went to Dr Raven , the damage was clear in the X Ray that I had a Broken my Radius Bone right near my wrist, also the end of the Ulna Bone had 2 chunks of Bone broken off the end of the bone, and I had a broken pinkie finger. As I am looking at the XRays with Dr Raven, I said "wow it looks like I am going to need surgery". "He stood up tall with his Arrogant Pompous attitude and said, I AM A SURGEON, AND I MAKE MY MONEY DOING SURGERY, AND YOU DO NOT NEED SURGERY, we will set it and put you in a cast and you will BE FINE". I said wow OK, this guy sounds pretty confident as I am looking at 3 breaks in my arm and hand, on the computer screen. At this point I should have went and got a second opinion, but I was in so much pain I believed him as I said back in the first paragraph, I thought doctors were in the field to help patience, he is supposedly a Hand and Arm specialist. Needless to say it has been 4 months now and I can't even do a push up, I have had a few follow up appointments along the way, and explained at every appointment that my arm and wrist area are still in pain with no strength, and it still swells up, on my final appointment yesterday 6/28/22 I started to question him on the decision he made from the beginning, and reminded him of what he said that ( I AM A SURGEUN, AND I MAKE MY MONEY DOING SURGERY, AND YOU DON'T NEED SURGERY), he explained to me at this point I had 2 choices , I would either have to live with the pain or have SURGERY, what a let down, (as it has been 4 months of recovery already) as he is telling my wife and I this, his voice is getting louder and he is becoming unstable and verbally abusive not taking any responsibility for the decision he made at the beginning of the process. I have had cortisone shots before.....both in my knees, hands before...and ALL previous doctors used anesthesia on the injection site. Dr. Raven, for some reason, decided that it wasn't needed for injections in my right thumb and left index finger. It was brutal and unnecessary! Dr. Raven is exactly what I was hoping for upon my visit. Concise, confident, punctual with a bit of empathy as well. I came to have my hand examined for possible arthritis. I told him my story/concerns ( he listened ) and we soon took an x-ray. While waiting on the x-ray to be set up, he gave me pamphlets to read. One was about arthritis ( what I thought my issue was ) and another about Carpal Tunnel ( I'm a drummer, it was only right ). I also had recent bloodwork done at my primary doctors office a week before my visit to rule out other complications. After reviewing my X-rays, bloodwork, and overall mobility ( he ran physical tests on my mobility, grip strength ) we determined that I likely have some form of overuse. So we talked about a treatment plan. Some of the reviews I've read on here are very misleading about Mr.Raven and his staff. My experience was great. So great that even if the results were different, I would've walked out feeling satisfied with my visit. read more

Awful bedside manner. My dad recently went and he flat out reprimanded him. Then proceeded to slam the door and walk out of the room. I need not say more... Not only is my father a soft spoken man, but even if he wasn't, that is no way to treat a patient. Dr. Raven is one of several orthopedic surgeons at this practice. Each surgeon has a different specialty. The office & waiting room is always filled, but the wait is short and comfortable. If this is your first visit, there is a lot of paperwork to do. The staff is very friendly & helpful. While in his waiting room I read his bio. Very, very impressive!!!! When you meet with him, you will learn that he is humble & respectful. No ego trip at all, but a warm feeling of confidence. This was my second visit to Dr.Raven in 5 years and the results were as successful as the first visit, simply fantastic! Dr. Raven is certainly an excellent orthopedic surgeon. My first visit was for a carpel tunnel surgery. The surgery was a complete success with an almost invisible tiny scar. The healing process was easy and fast with little to no pain. Best of all, my hand is totally pain free and 100% healed. This time I had a trigger finger on my other hand. I met with the same very positive results as my previous visit. He was there right away and took care of my hand but my effection was so bad that i had to have surgery... I fell and fractured my wrist last April. The ER x-rayed and stabilized my wrist, but I was sent to OSS for treatment. Reduction was recc'd first, as a less invasive treatment. When the reduction didn't hold, Dr. Raven recc'd surgery. I decided to have my carpal tunnel fixed at the same time - 'cause I love a good twofer! Anyway, a year later, my wrist is back to 100% - even better, actually, because the numbness, pain, and tingling from the CT is gone too. The CT scar is not visible if you're not looking for it, and the wrist repair is barely noticeable - and I tend to form keloids, so this is amazing! His PA, Omar, is super knowledgable and efficient, and the entire staff is kind and courteous. I always felt like I could ask questions. He performed basil thumb joint reconstruction (due to arthritis) surgery on both my hands at different times, and I was so thrilled with the end results. Do not waste your time going to OSS and especially, Dr. Raven. I had a 3.00pm appointment with Dr. Raven (which I waited 6 weeks for!), I checked in 15 min early, sat down and there were 3 other patients that had been waiting for him since 1.00pm. The front desk took zero accountability and just said it's not their fault and it's the dr's fault. Instead of calling their patients to let them know the Dr. is running 3 hours behind... they let everyone show up and just kept them waiting until everyone grew angry enough and started speaking up. This office and their doctors obviously don't have any consideration for anyone else's time/schedule. Dr. Raven performed surgery on my wrist on Aug 6, 2018. (One year ago) I had a bad fracture in many places after a fall and needed a titanium plate inserted. It was a scary experience for me and I cannot say enough positive things about Dr Raven and the entire staff at OSS Burbank. Dr Raven answered my many questions/concerns and would always respond quickly via email. I also got sick from pain medication and he made sure to check on me regarding my new pain medication plan. After the surgery, I spent two months at OSS Physical Therapy. Lon and the team helped me regain use of my fingers and wrist. I cannot believe how far I have come (with hard work) in two months! I could barely use my hand when I started. Now, one year later, my wrist and hand is almost as good as new. They were caring, trustworthy, efficient, and honest with me along the way. Even after 15 days -never called or got a reply. I did not dare to call them again as I worried their customer service may be worst. If this is the situation of getting an appointment, what will do for follow up. Most of the office claim they are busy. Even though he's normally a hand surgeon, he did an excellent job on a very complicated surgery on my collarbone after I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle and it was shattered. A proper diagnosis is paramount! Many think they have carpel tunnel, get surgery, have no changes and are worse off. This doctor gives a proper diagnosis! I am a golfer and suffered with great pain from arthritis in my fingers. Dr. Raven has relieved my pain by replacing the joint on my middle finger of my left hand, with little of no recovery pain just 3 months ago and now I am back golfing pain free. Is a plus that they open on Saturdays which most doctors not. He seem to be knowledgeable on his area of expertise. My main concern is basically what most people comment before the lack of explanation or the ability to do questions. He does provide literature which is good but I can download that from the Internet. I want to be able to know more about my specific condition, the prognosis and how long I should expect to heal His staff is wonderful but after waiting for 2 plus hours for 5 minutes of his time is very unfortunate. I was very disappointed. I undertand that he may have many patients but quality in medical treatment is most important. I am an attorney and I will get a bar complaint if i do that with a client.(rushing and provide information "to go") I believe that many doctors just lost that personal touch so necessary when you are seeking medical advice. read more
