Outside, there were mums, gourds, pumpkins, etc. We scored some gourds for a dollar each. Inside, it was a lovely place to shop. They had premade soups, pies, meat pies, a bakery, fresh produce, honey, jellies, soaps, shirts, etc. The place was definitely popular, people were in and out constantly. We bought some pastries (pumpkin muffin, blueberry muffin, cake pop) and it was good! The only thing I don't recommend were the cider donuts, they were kind of dry. The cashier was okay, kind of dry also lol, other than that, a good place to get some fresh eats. I'd definitely visit often if I was close by but I'm lucky to have a bunch of these types of stores near me already.

So I can be very critical when necessary. But not with this beautiful family run restaurant and bakery. I never remember names, but the dad was in IT and got out and bought this orchard. Mom does the cooking and baking. And the daughters are the servers. Beautiful vibe and family. And friendly farm cats. A very small but fresh menu. My friend and I both had different quiches. This was the best quiche I ever had!!! We also split a bowl of oatmeal that was filled with goodies...nuts, granola, etc. we both had the tea/lemonade combo that was also wonderful. Then we went into the bakery to pay. But will all the goodies we both bought way too much stuff. In addition to the incredible baked goods they have frozen homemade soups, homemade jellies and jams, local honey, and much more. The sourdough English muffins were excellent. When we left one of the daughters was picking herbs from the raised beds. I had to think long and hard about whether to write this review. I want them to be successful but not too successful. I stopped in their farm bakery and was delighted with the offerings. They had pumpkin whoopie pies, frozen pies, soups, and more. The pumpkin whoopie pies were the best I've ever had. My husband agrees and he's a whoopie pie connoisseur. If you love farms, farm stands, and supporting local businesses, I highly recommend.

I purchased pear and cardamom goat cheese and lemon, thyme and lavender goat cheese. Everyone enjoyed it. The yogurt was delicious as well. You can walk around and see the animals. They have a cow milking station that you can go into and watch. Fun for kids.

It was my first visit, and I was amazed at the thousands of varieties of stunningly colorful annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, and more. Rows and Rows of beautiful flowers everywhere. We ended up buying four flats of pretty pink and purple perennials @ $2.95/flat. The Raspberry Parfait Dianthus will really beautify our mailbox. They also have a store with all sorts of home decor and furnishings. Note that Coward Farms is open during the year in three distinct time periods - Spring from May 1st - July 3rd, Fall from Sept. 1st - Oct. 31st and Christmas -starting the Friday after Thanksgiving.

I have a half share which entitles me to a standard size reusable shopping bag of amazing fresh veggies for $12 a week for 20 weeks!!! I split my share with 2 roommates and we always get more than we can handle. (Good thing I have freezer space...) This is my first CSA but I've researched them before and what sets Windham apart is the flexibility of their program. Standard CSAs pre-sort your share every week and offer 1 or 2 pick up locations. Windham has at least 3 pick up locations and if you pick up from either their farm (Sat) or the Coventry Farmer's Market (Sun) you can pick your vegetables! It's basically like a $12 organic shopping spree. We've gotten just about every kind of vegetable you could imagine and even some fruit. In addition to the usual stuff I was exposed to a number of things I had never cooked with before like Kohlrabi and Celeriac. Although I've never been to the farm itself I have heard from my co-worker (who I split a full share with and put me on to it in the first place) that it is gorgeous and a great trip for a Saturday morning.

We just spent only $28.35 on all of this (below prices are before tax): An 11-ounce Raspberry Butter coffee cake for $2.59 Two and a half pounds of meat stuffed peppers for $12.82 A pint of pasta fagioli soup for $1.99 2 pounds of baked cabbage leaves in tomato sauce for $3.79 14-ounces of potato cheese pierogis for $4.71 1.6 pounds of chicken thighs for $2.72 That's plenty of dinners, for next to nothing. Oh, and the sweet woman at the checkout said this as she rang up the Pierogis - "I hope you like them, I made them last night". Welcome to our rotation, Waniewski!!
