Eh. I really wanted to love Cafe Antonio because it was recommended to me by my hairdresser…read more Unfortunately, the service ruined any chance of us coming back. Upon being seated, it took about ten minutes for anyone to come take our order. When a waitress realized that nobody had come over to service, she said she would find someone. The waitress who did end up serving us seemed to be training someone. Even with the two of them, though, it took forever to get refills on drinks and anything else we needed. By the time we finally got the check, we couldn't wait to get out of there. The salad was quite good with fresh ingredients and a nice dressing on the side. The pizza was not my favorite, but it was decent and my husband enjoyed it. The atmosphere is casual with a somewhat cheesy Italian vibe, but if it weren't for the service, I would have maybe found it charming.

This quickly became a favorite restaurant of ours before they even brought the appetizers! First off, the atmosphere was casual and upscale at once-- we had come here spontaneously so we weren't dressed up and we didn't feel out of place, but the table settings and fun decor felt like the right level of elegance to enjoy this great meal. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in to ensure we were having a great meal, and our waters were always filled. Now, the best part: food! There were at least 25 menu options we got excited about and eventually we narrowed it down to the bacon wrapped scallops with an INCREDIBLE pesto honey mustard sauce, veal sorrento which my boyfriend really liked, and Chef Chris's Grilled Salmon which was AWESOME. The salmon is perfectly grilled with baby shrimp, crab meat, tomatoes, and basil on top. Literally INCREDIBLE. It comes in a garlic cream sauce with broccoli rabe (made RIGHT! not bitter at all!) on the side. We had so much fun dining here, and noticed a casual fare deli side to the place that we'll have to check out the next time we're back! Which is bound to be soon!

This is hands down the best pasta I've had outside of Italy. It's made fresh and al dente and they…read morealso sell it to go for home cooking. We visited for a late dinner on a Friday. The restaurant is BYOB so we took a short walk down to Boyd's pharmacy to get some wine and beer. Bordentown parking is challenging, so be prepared to leave extra time for finding a spot. Our meal started with fresh baked sesame semolina bread that melted in your mouth. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and my wife ordered the pasta with crab. Both dishes were amazing and portions were large (we both took some home). The service is professional and the staff is knowledgeable about the menu. They did have a lot of specials in addition to the menu. The atmosphere is quaint and somewhat elegant. In the nice weather you can even sit outside.

Pros: I genuinely can't think of a single favorable aspect of our dining experience…read more Cons: Everything--from the service, to the table spacing, to the food quality--was an issue. The ambiance and layout were problematic throughout the meal. The table spacing was already uncomfortably tight from the start, and toward the end of our visit, a party of 10 was seated in a way that completely blocked off the front left side of the already small dining area. This left only a narrow path on the right side for entry and exit. Given how confined the space became, it raised legitimate concerns about safety and whether the layout could pose an issue in the event of an emergency. After waiting 40 minutes for the complimentary bread, I finally had to speak up and ask for it to be brought to our table. Given that there were several open tables both inside and outside, we couldn't understand why there was such a tremendous delay with such a simple task. For an additional "starter" my dining partner ordered the Caesar salad which was completely drenched in dressing. While we were initially excited about the homemade pasta entrees, we were extremely disappointed once out they arrived. I understand that homemade pasta is typically served al dente, but neither dish was cooked properly. I had to cut my pasta with a knife because a fork simply wasn't enough, and my dining partner couldn't cut several pieces of his pasta at all--some were still noticeably crunchy. I was especially surprised, as I've dined here before and don't recall these kinds of issues--perhaps there has been a change in the kitchen. Unfortunately, we weren't able to address any of this during the meal because our waitress, Marti, never checked on us from the time she delivered our entrees (about an hour after we were seated). Not once, not even upon delivering the check did she ask us how our meals were! Before leaving, I chose to address the server, Marti, directly and share our experience. I expressed my disappointment with both the service and the food, but her response made an already bad experience significantly worse. Every comment was met with a large, clearly insincere smile and a dismissive "I'm sorry to hear that," with no effort to actually resolve anything. A good server would show genuine remorse, offer to involve a manager, or at the very least attempt to make things right--whether by addressing the issue or offering to comp part of the meal. None of that happened. There was no accountability, no urgency, and no real acknowledgment of the situation--just a phony, rehearsed response that felt completely disrespectful. To make matters worse, shortly after we left, my dining partner became ill, experiencing both diarrhea and nausea, along with severe stomach pain that has now lasted over 14 hours and is still ongoing. If I could give this experience a 0 out of 5, I would.

The vibe is old school and cozy and was beautifully decorated for the season. We started at the bar with vodka martinis that were made perfectly by the friendly bartenders and generously filled as well. We asked if we could move to a table for dinner and they accommodated us immediately telling us to take our time at the bar and showed us the table they reserved for us when we were ready to sit. Once we sat down our server, Tony, came over immediately and introduced himself. He told us about the restaurant and also about the nightly specials. We decided on the clams casino appetizer. While we were waiting he brought us fresh baked Italian bread and homemade butter. It was delicious and when we were down to the last piece a new loaf was put down without even asking. The clams and lemon wine butter sauce were delicious. Salads came soon after in a light vinegarette with fresh sliced cheese. The entrees we ordered were the Roebling Veal Chop milanese style and the seafood pasta. Both were delicious and the chop was giant! For desert we shared "A little of everything" which consisted of a tartufo, a tiramiso, and a canoli. They gave us 2 complementary limoncellos to have with desert. The owner stopped by to see how everything was and kicked up a conversation about the restaurant and how it owned it for 39 years. It started in Chambersburg, a once vibrant little Italy in Trenton that no longer exists. Throughout the night we were treated like VIPs and truly like family. This date night at Marsilio's kitchen was more than a meal. It was a dining experience and we will certainly be back soon.

Looks like I'm in the minority on ratings for this restaurant…read more The place itself is in a former home and we ate in what may have been the living room and dining room. The space is very minimalist with nothing but 2 photos (?) on the walls. As the night progressed the noise level increased but not overwhelming so. I was concerned about the size of the menu with there being around 28 various entrees. In the past I've learned that less is usually best making it easier for the kitchen to perfect their dishes. This total did not include the 2(?) Special entrees. I chose the special Risotto Carbonara with guanciale, cream, mushrooms and cheese and was disappointed. The risotto was overcooked with the usual risotto "bite" missing. There was little seasoning in the dish and not much in the way of quantity of guanciale. In comparison, the Osso Bucco was very good with a rich gravy and side of mashed potatoes. I'm not sure if I'd return. BYO.
