Here to specifically talk about the cabbage soup, which was so good that we bought a quart to take home for school lunch (consumed later that day as it was too good to wait). It is a creamy stuffed cabbage soup and reminiscent of Polish stuffed cabbage. We arrived here just before two after a Sunday snow sledding expedition. No one rushed us out the door even with a closing time of 3pm. We ordered the Mexican and Mediterranean omelets from the specials menu. Our super friendly and welcoming server had recommended the Mediterranean, but I craved jalapeños - ultimately would have picked the Mediterranean if I had to do it again. Hot dog is very good according to my daughter - served on an Italian roll and is more like 2 hot dogs - she loved it. Would have liked my eggs and potatoes a little less well done, but overall the place was really magical and would go back again easily! The service was fast. The ambiance is very casual. The staff is so friendly. The food however was okay. I had the Denise (French toast with mascarpone cheese, strawberries, and chocolate drizzle). I was excited for it but it was just okay. The French toast was not as fluffy as I have had at other places. I think they would benefit from using thicker bread. Great Jersey breakfast and lunch location. Breakfast menu is huge and you can mix and match as you like and the lunch menu is just as large which is great but you don't see that very often. I called on a Monday and a woman answered as she was speaking to someone else and I was politely saying, "hello." She then hung up, I then gave her the benefit of thr doubt and called again and the phone was picked up and I was thing up on once again! I then called back at least 5 more times and I was hung up on every time!! I don't get angered easily, but I'm not going to take that type of treatment from anyone or any establishment. Enjoyed a Corned Beef Ruben that was perfect! While I enjoyed my food other customers dined on delicious looking pancakes and speciality egg dishes. Don't stop here if you are not a "regular". We have been going here for lunch occasionally when on the road. It is a small, local diner type restaurant. Have enjoyed our visits until today. Stopped in for an early lunch, requested the open booth as sitting on chairs at tables is not comfortable for me. Was in the area for work and wanted just a nice breakfast. Found this place on Yelp and the other reviews looked promising. I arrived, breakfast for one, and shortly an older gentleman also having breakfast alone was seated at the table next to me. I ordered just a simple ham, egg, onion omelet with hash browns and toast and a cuppa coffee. It was exactly what I wanted. The conversation with the older gentleman, a local, was very nice also. We wanted a local spot to get a good breakfast and found Brookwood Cafe had a consistently highest ratings on Yelp and other review platforms so we thought we would try it out. Great service. Nice size cafe with local artist works on the walls for sale. Great food. Fun variety on the menu for those that want pancakes, waffles, eggs or omelets, specials or any variety. Loved the eggs cooked to perfection. Loved the hash browns lightly deep fried like that of a master chef in a high end restaurant. Good coffee. Good raisin bread. And not too crowded in the seated. It was packed full every table. This is always a great indicator of the best place to grab breakfast. Loved it. Highly recommend it! We will be back next time we're passing through. read more

Cute little breakfast and lunch place that I've been meaning to try. Finally was able to give it a try the other day. Went late morning. Looks like they were a little short staffed. There was a lot of people waiting to pay their bill along with ourselves and a couple others looking to be seated. Once we were seated, we were given the regular menu as well as a menu was specials. A lot of the specials looked really good. But trying to be good. I ended up going with the Mexican omelette. Oh did I want the pumpkin pancakes. Lol. Mexican all that came with hash browns, which ended up almost being fried diced tomatoes. But they were still good. And wheat toast with butter. Mexican omelet was very good. Wasn't greasy. Had a good amount of vegetables and cheese in it. Would like to come back one of these days and have a guilty pleasure of the French toast or pancakes. read more

After a morning appointment in the area, we decided to have breakfast at Brookwood Cafe. As others stated this place has tasty food, they are accommodating, and the service is five out of five in my book. My husband had the meat-lover omelet which he enjoyed. I had a wonderful waffle sprinkled with tasty blueberries and powdered sugar. I loved it. If we are in that area again I would eat here again. Came here Monday morning for breakfast and the place was pretty empty, which was great since we decided to do indoor dining during a global pandemic. Our server was very friendly and grabbed us two delicious mugs of hot coffee to start our meals. Hubby ordered a Popeye's omlette with spinach (surprise!), cheese, onions and a side of crunch potatoes (my favorite). It was really light and filling. I ordered the specialty sandwich, which was two slices of french toast, ham, cheese with a side of fries. It was tasty and filling. Had breakfast with my wife on Monday 4/3. Got there around 11:30am greeted nicely as soon as we walked in and got a booth immediately. Coffee was very good. Shared a Popeye omelette, an order of pancakes and I wanted to try their corned beef hash as I read a good review about it and I like really good corned beef hash that's hard to come by. The omelette & pancakes were very good. So was the attentive service we received. That corned beef hash wasn't good . I doubted it was home made and had way too much pepper in it. I was very disappointed but good home made corned beef hash is so hard to come by. I did see some awesome looking fat sausage links go by our table and realized I should have went that route We will be back and will order those fat sausage links. read more

I came here once before for takeout but this time I decided to eat in. The atmosphere is relatively cozy and inviting. I got some pancakes, two eggs with ham and home fries, and the turkey sandwich special. Everything was good. I wasn't expecting too much from a breakfast/lunch place, to begin with. The home fries were a little bit overcooked in my opinion. I think I love the special turkey sandwich the most. The service was pretty good, very laid back and everyone was welcoming. To sate my cravings for Belgian waffles, Yelp reviews led me to the Brookwood Cafe. They certainly deserve a high rating, not just for their delicious food, but for their extremely friendly and caring service! Right when I walked in the door, I was welcomed like family and greeted with smiles and kind words. It had a warm grandma's house feeling to it that just made you feel really happy. I ordered the Belgian waffles special w/whip cream and strawberries which was great! I had a side of yummy corn beef hash which was cooked really well (and had a few veggies in there, maybe peppers? which really added to the flavor)! Altogether it was about $14 which made me even happier lol. At the register, I was again greeted and served with smiles and kind words. I don't think I've had this sort of restaurant experience ever. It's no wonder they have a ton of regulars in here. Lots of laughing, chatting, and jokes - just a good place to be :) I left a big tip and went home with a bigger heart and slightly bigger tummy :) Will def come back here again! read more

Lovely little family owned lunchonette serving simple and affordable food in a casual setting. Despite not being one of the numerous regulars eating breakfast there on the morning my son and I walked in while waiting for my car to serviced next door, I was warmly greeted and invited to choose any open seat. The boy & I settled into a booth and the pleasant waitress immediately offered me a cup of hot Lucas coffee from the pot she was already holding before the menus had even hit the table. I'm not sure if I looked as fatigued as I felt, but the gesture was well received. Within a few minutes, we placed our orders: a short stack of pancakes for the boy and a Florentine breakfast wrap from the specials menu for me. A few minutes after ordering, the waitress returned and let me know that they were out of the tomato wraps for the wrap, but could substitute a spinach one for me. If I had known that was option to begin with, I would have asked for it, so no complaints! The foot arrived fast and hot. The pancakes disappeared off my son's plate at incredible speed, a good sign. My wrap was very good, and included a side of home fries served in my preferred chunky style (vs. the shredded kind). Hot sauce was already on the table to add the extra kick I prefer. The food arrived so quickly that we hadn't killed quite enough time to avoid having to sit in a very small auto repair shop waiting room if we left immediately after finishing, so luckily we were invited to linger a bit over some additional cups of coffee and the news playing behind the counter; we were sure that our gratuity reflected our appreciation for being made to feel welcome to camp out on one of the tables. So if you're in the area and looking for a real taste of local life, this is a fine spot. You'll be made to feel like a regular in no time. The kind of greeting that makes you question whether they know you or are mistaking you for a regular. We felt so welcomed. That was just the beginning. The staff is fantastic. Extremely attentive. Food comes out fast and...the food is soooo good. OMG zThe omelets are delicious and fresh and made with quality eggs. The French toast has just the right amount of sweetness and cooked perfectly.
