Still, for casual pick-up games and outdoor fun, this park is tough to beat in the area.

There are 3 play areas - a newer ninja park with obstacle activities and a rubber floor, a tall slide and climbing playground, and an older little kid playground and swings in the shaded area by the creek. (Parked just outside the fence near right field.) Long story short, we are COVERED in Chigger Bites!!!! This was the only place where both of us had gotten out of the truck together at the same place other than home. So it is obvious the parasites came from the park grounds. How absolutely ridiculous that you can have such a beautiful park that is infested with parasites!!!

Only a couple parking spaces - 1 handicap and 1 non handicap. Street parking available too.

It's a great place to go for a walk if you want to feel like you're really out in nature without having to leave the city. Beautiful all year round and I hardly ever run into lots of people out here. There's two entrances to the preserve, one at the Sam's Club on highway 112 if you park on the southern edge of the parking lot and the other's along Deane Solomon Rd, there's a few parking spots along N Floral Court and then you'll walk a very short distance north along Deane Solomon and you'll see the entrance. There are bike racks at either entrance to the park because there's no bikes or dogs allowed in the preserve due to the sensitivity of the trails since it's a wet prairie and the goal of the preserve is to maintain the ecosystem in the best possible condition for wildlife and native flora.

The pond has turtles, fish and lots of other wildlife in and around the water. There is also a little spring that flows through the middle of the park feeding into the creek at the north side of the park. I love coming here with my family.
