After reading the not so nice review about the "old man in the back right corner" I was even more apprehensive when he came to get me outside in the line. What the heck it's just hair so in I went. What I learned was the old man is Nelson. He is 80 years old. He travels to Alaska to go fishing when he can and was a genuinely nice guy. He went to barber school in 1953 and has been cutting hair in that shop since 1971! My hair is a regular layered cut kind of a old style guys cut with a part on one side. Other barbers have left me with the left side flipping up or a cow lick on the back. Nelson did a great job and exactly what I asked for. No flip or cow lick. When I got home my wife said wow that's a great haircut. My hair did not feel dirty and I so far have not broken out in boils. So, if you are a young person wanting a trendy fade or letters cut into your hair you might give Nelson a pass. But, if your an older guy like me and just want a conservative well done haircut, Nelson is your guy. In any case, at 80 years old this old uncle probably doesn't need your business or your disrespect.

Howere, when my stay in Hawaii turned into a longer stay then expected, I needed a haircut. I kept driving past this place and noticed a line forming everyday. That has to be a good sign! The shop was 3 chairs and looks like an old school shop, just like I was hoping. Sadly, no straight razors or hot shaving cream. But the shop had a great vibe just the same. I just wish I had more hair to more fully enjoy the experience.

Scheduling from the business card had to use a iPhone camera scan to book. First time ever booking through this app and using the platform with this guy. I had couple issues using the platform and had to refresh couple times re-input my info cc etc... - 1hr duration for a cut My apologies for not really paying attention to my confirmed time for Aug.17.23 at 3:00pm, I showed up little before 3:30pm thinking my appointment was at 3:30. Just got done with work 2am-1pm. Had to head to KVMH doctors at 2:30pm showed up early they took me in at 1:40ish, 2:30-2:50 picked up the kids from school. Went home dropped off the kids headed down to the shop. I was told I can't reschedule and I can't get a haircut at 3:30pm. I couldn't even get a compensation not even a refund being a first time customer. No credit and No Rescheduling. Maybe I'll try again? My total: $35 plus taxes/fees $4.80, 40% tip $15, $54.80. I got charged $39.80 | He took out the tip

Takes great care with his fades using multiple buzzers down to a Norelco type face razor giving that attention to detail and depth of fade. Uses a razor blade for lineups and is amazing with cleaning up, trimming and shaping of beards. My favorite thing about buttalblendz is that he is busy enough that you know he's a good barber, but still somehow' has great availability! He can fit you in fairly quickly. My best recommendation is to book through his Instagram page. There is a link that takes you to the scheduler. He is fast and responsive and accepts mostly all forms of payment. Great with kids as well! Will definitely keep going back.

Came with my cousins to get our hair done for a formal event that evening. I had an appt for a wash…read moreand style so I came in & perused some photos on my phone so I could show Rick, my hairstylist/owner. My cousin was first so we sat for a bit until Rick arrived as we came in a few minutes early for our appointments. I wanted long, flowy curls that would stand up to a few hours and into the night since I knew my hair would relax with the humidity and just naturally since my hair is long and fine. By the time it was my turn, I discussed my idea with Rick, showing my photos and telling him my hair doesn't hold a curl after awhile so I have to spray it with a lot of hairspray. He washed my hair with very warm water, then blow-dried/blow-out first to dry my hair. If the water is too hot, just communicate that. The hair dryer reminded me of my Dyson the way the air flowed and sounded. Afterwards, Rick sprayed my hair with an extreme hold hairspray prior to curling with a curling iron then sprayed again w/hairspray. I'd say only one time I felt the hot curling iron really close to my scalp. Otherwise, things went smoothly. I was probably finished within an hour. My curls were definitely sturdy. I asked Rick if he would tease the back of my hair since I like volume but he didn't want to add another dimension & mess with the curls. The curls held below the chin for the rest of the night but fell around my face and around my head. I think it was the humidity and because I have fine hair. It was a pretty style and my cousin who has really thick hair had curls that lasted all day and into the evening. My other cousin had an updo with soft face-framing curls. That was very elegant and the design of her bun in the back was intricate. Rick did a nice job working with her shorter-length hair with lots of bobby pins and creative design. The shop has a modern & spacious feel. There's a eyebrow services place adjoining the shop.

I was at the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit on Oahu and had a hospital bun. I had a lot of seizures within a short period of time which matted and dreaded my hair. I could not detangle it myself and it was weighing on my self-confidence. After so much hair loss already, I wanted to save the length. This team responded to my request of detangling with such care, compassion, and patience. When I arrived I was assured that they were going to take care of me and my hair. This team was so kind to me and worked diligently on my hair for at least 3.5 hours. I was reminded that this is why they do what they do in this service industry. They accomplished this tedious task with gentleness, wonderful hospitality and fun. Towards the end of the detangling Jamie wanted to trim the ends of my hair to make my hair fuller with cleaner ends. I was floored by this team's generosity as they did NOT even charge me for this service that took up hours of their time and much effort. Jaime- you are the best! This team is extraordinary and I am forever grateful for their dedication to their work, their generosity and their kind hearts. This is a rare thing to find these days. I cannot say enough amazing things about this team of stylists! I am blessed beyond measure for what they did for me. And I will tell everyone I know about how awesome they are!
