I'm on the fence about this place. In general the customer service here is very fantastic but when…read morethey have that rare oddity of a snafu things get a little hairy. If you're relocating here and you are going to choose TD bank Canada keep in mind that you have to set up an appointment in order to set up a savings and checking account, they do not do walk ins. You can get an appointment online which I wish I had known about instead of trying in person a few times to get one. This bank is open every single day of the week which is kind of crazy and they're also open after hours, so getting an appointment or doing banking will never conflict with your schedule. The tellers for the most part are nice and super efficient but there are those occasions of where you have the annoying ones that don't give two $hits about moving that line. They also struggle to open on time, I've been there waiting before for them to open and customers have held up their phones so the employees could see that it was past the time to open. So onto that rare oddity of a snafu there was an option that we were advised by this branch to do US bill pay online. We thought great we can pay off our bills by using this easy option. Well it was not so easy after all and ALOT ( thousands) of our money got lost somewhere out there in the world for over a month. Numerous calls to customer support didn't yield much other than go to the branch and the branch was just as clueless and tried to defer us back to corporate customer service. Additionally I was the one that had to constantly follow up. I don't like to push to get results, the business should be doing that for me. Eventually the money did show up which was a relief and I still never got an explanation as to what happened. This will never happen to me again because I will never use online bill pay ever again.

why is it that every single time i come to this bank, there is a massive line up, but there are…read morealways at least 3 workers NOT helping customers..? In particular, there is always the same late 20's blonde guy hovering around, looking busy, but being completely unproductive. You know the one I'm talking about. Nice dress shirts, shiny pointed leather shoes, spiky hair..? Seriously! Next time you're standing there for 20 minutes, watch him. He accomplishes NOTHING, but manages to strut around looking very hurried.

Hyper-clean branch. Very brightly lit, tidy, and welcoming. It's a little bit on the smaller side…read moreso it feels less intimidating than the downtown branch. I'm sure there are banking students that work here because the tellers don't always have that level of confidence or experience that bank tellers normally have. One advantage is that they really cater to the student market here (obviously) and it's less embarrassing to admit that you're a poor student here than other Vancouver neighbourhoods with ultra rich people everywhere. It's super convenient to have a full-service branch on campus, that's for sure. And right by the (trolly) bus loop too.

I am posting another review with more details about the incident at Scotiabank on April 4, 2014…read more The bank is hiding these reviews because they obviously have something to be ashamed of.  However, the public should be aware of one of their representatives named Henry whose methods of dealing with customers is both disrespectful and abusive.  Specifically, I phoned the bank and asked if they could transfer a large amount of money from another bank to one closer to home on campus. I also told the woman who answered the phone that I was unwell and did not want to go back and forth to the banks. The woman on the phone said it would be "no problem" for the bank to make the transfer over the phone for me.  An appointment was set up to see Henry and after about 45 minutes of him trying to convince me to put my money into a savings plan that did not interest me, I then asked him to just transfer the money, but he said he would not do that. When I complained about the inconsistency of the information I was given, Henry did not even apologize; instead, he became defensive, rude, and using inappropriate hand gestures started telling me to "take it easy,"etc in a patronizing manner. When I asked him to stop, he criticized my tone in a condescending way. Apparently some Asian people do not like the range of tones that is characteristic of native English speakers and some Asian men, in particular, prefer women speak in a monotone. When I asked him to stop his patronizing behaviour, he became more agitated and tried to turn the whole thing on me by accusing me of being abusive. I am a nearly 60 year old 100 pound woman and have lived in Vancouver for over 30 years. I have never encountered this kind of treatment, but I guess Canadians have to expect more of this as our city continues to be sold to foreign investors. When I called him on his inappropriate behaviour he literally became irate and threatened to put a negative notation on my file! Needless to say, I was no longer interested in putting my money in this bank  and I immediately left. I then went to another bank on campus and there was no problem setting up another account.  Unfortunately, Henry could not let this go. He then sent me a completely unnecessary unpleasant letter of rejection that contained a false statement and an ambiguous reason why he did not want me to bank there. Appalled by this provocation, I called the bank and complained. To this day, there has been no apology for this unconscionable behaviour, and in fact, the bank simply hid my online review from the public, so I am re-posting another review because I feel strongly the community needs to be aware of this person and his dangerous, unethical ways of dealing with customers. There is no excuse in the world for threatening customers and sending them dishonest letters.
