As a first time mom who had heard wonderful things about RBK I was left disappointed multiple times after receiving conflicting guidance from each of their doctors which lead to very big problems for my son. My son had severe eczema and while I don't expect them to be dermatologists, I did expect a higher level of care and knowledge on their part. I would never recommend this group to anyone. The office staff sucks. My first appointment with is practice was a joke. I was given a 6:40 appointment. Drove 1 hour in the rain to get my son to the office called them to advise I maybe a few minutes late. I get to the office at 6:13 only to be told, I'm late the Doctor will not see me. They changed my appointment to 5:40 without mentioning it to me(guess someone wanted to leave early) Then I rescheduled but canceled 2 days before the appointment was assured that the appointment will be canceled as I was not in NY as well as the future one that was scheduled for 8/3/2021. I spoke to Ann Donahue after speaking to the billing office she waived the fees but told me I was dismissed from the practice. Newsflash, my son was never treated there nor would I care. When you call RBK Ped's you will surely hold for quite a while not only to get someone very rude on the phone. They hang up on you and do not listen to you when you ask for something. They also put you on hold with out your permission for as long as they want. When you go there you sit there for a long time as well. They sit behind the counter and eat mostly from what I have observed. This has been an on going experience that we finally put a stop to after 3 years. It is hard to find people out there whom are genuine and actually care about the patient and not treat you like a number. don't bother asking for an office manager or trying to speak to a doctor you will get put on hold for a long time and then hung up on. I brought my daughter there for their vaccine clinic at the Bayshore location because our pediatrician does not have the storage for the Covid vaccine specifically. When I call to make the appointment the receptionist rudely asks "you want to get the Covid shot for your nine month old?" Yes I do Karen I am the parent and a healthcare provider and she's over six months as recommended and we discussed it with our pediatrician. I was able to get her first dose fine no issues but the second dose which was due the next month apparently never came in. None of the parents were notified and we all showed up and were waiting outside for almost an hour With the door locked and nobody there or answering the phone. The person I spoke to in the Commack office to ask what was going on just said the appointment was canceled and that I had to call a supervisor on Monday then hung up on me. Finally the appointment is rescheduled this month when they get the vaccine in, and we get the second dose no problems. The receptionist tells us that she needs a third dose due to her age but the nurse says she does not until they looked it up on the cdc site. This practice is a sad example of what medicine has become today. I've been taking my kids to this practice for about a year and while there are a few nurses and doctors that I like, there are other issues with this place. This practice's main focus is money. You are bombarded with the question of what's your insurance (is it UH community plan?) as soon as you step into that door. Even after telling them it hasn't changed from a month ago, they insist on photocopying it for the 10th time. Yes, of course, just want to make sure they get paid first. Then you wait for about 15 minutes... Not bad. The nurse takes you in, and does all the standard weight, height, etc. But every visit they want to give your kid a hearing test and vision test with these fancy machines. Is it really necessary to have these as routine tests every few month, even at a flu shot appointment? They always told me my sons hearing was fine but how come he never listens to what I tell him... Hmmm. Anyway, I started declining "routine" tests after I got slapped with hefty bills because insurance didn't fully cover them. After the nurse is done with her routine stuff, you fill out some forms of developmental milestones. The doctor comes in for about 10 minutes to go over the developmental form, go over what you need for immunizations, and does the physical exam. You ask if all vaccinations are up to date several times, and they say yes several times. Dr. goes out and in comes the nurse to give 1 shot, and you are herded out. A month later you get a call telling you that your child needs another shot, you say but dr said he's all up to date (my child was 2 so not on infant schedule)... In we go again with the same assembly line except they do an abbreviated exam and manage to collect two office visit payments for 2 shots. Since most insurances only cover one well visit a year, the second one is largely out of pocket for us. $240 for a 5 minute visit with a shot that they missed last visit? No problem. Insurance covered the shot and part of the visit (yes, the shot and the visit are two separate charges) and I'm left with only $100 for the visit. No problem. I'm growing money at home at the rate of $100/minute. Try talking to billing office? Forget about it. They can be down right rude and are also are well trained and experienced to punt everything to your insurance company as if they are not the ones mailing out the bills. Once they even somehow forgot to record that we paid the copay at the office and we ended up with another bill of copay in the mail. RBK Pediatrics has been around since I was a kid (and probably even longer than that). The doctors and nurses are all friendly and professional and I definitely trust them to handle my children. The only gripe I have on this one trip was one of the nurses said in front of my 5 year old that she needs 2 shots. My daughter was already nervous just being there but now she was freaking out crying. I mean these are small children. You can be a little more discreet than that, can't you? So another thing, who is the idiot who put evergreens completely blocking the already treacherous parking lot, i was walking up the huge hill and they force you to walk to the left up the hill and there are schrubs completely blocking the pedestrians view of cars making a right into this disgusting parking lot, there needs to be a walkway put in, it would cost about 5k . I pray nobody ever gets hurt in this parking lot because the lawsuit would only help a greedy lawyer out and someone would be serious hurt, this parking lot is a nightmare, the schrubs need to be cut down and a walkway needs to be put in where those bushes are so people can safely walk to the side and so people pulling into the parking lots view on pedestrians isnt obstructed. Had a horrible experience at RBK. I was not impressed with the level of care I had been receiving to begin with and decided I was going to start looking for a new pediatrician. I asked that my child's records be faxed to a new practice. This occurred on a Friday. Sunday (two days later ) my son was sick so I brought him to RBKs urgent care to be seen. They REFUSED to see him because they considered him inactive and no longer a patient. Are you kidding me? You turn away a sick child who was a patient bc I asked them to send his medical records to a new practice????!!! It hadn't even been 1 business day since the request was made. I never said I was discontinuing my relationship with the practice. For all they know I could have been looking for a second opinion on something. So they left me stranded and when I raised my voice (I didn't even use foul language) they said they would call security. Call the police I don't care who you call- here's my phone. I have been coming here for years...my daughter is now 14 years old...we've been coming here since she was 2...Dr. Reilly is one of my favorited Dr.'s in the practice, but they are all wonderful...the staff is always friendly and they all have a lot of patience w/ the children..which is very important. I have been going to RBK since my son was born. Dr, Mathew was the ONLY doc I'd see and the rest are sub-par at best.....She has since left the practice and it's really a clinic environment now. I had to see Dr. Bellovin once and he should NOT be a pediatrician, as he treats kids like they are trash and seems to like to yell at parents when we questioned shots and tell us "I'm the doctor- what I say he gets is what he gets". I kicked him out of the room and never saw him again. Dr. Simon is ok, but at 11 months old, she said it was now OK to give my son milk (he had a milk allergy in his formula-hence why he was on soy formula!) and he broke out in a rash head to toe and vomiting. i called and she was like oh, no big deal.... keep him on formula I guess.... you GUESS????? Went in today for an emergency, as my son has an ear infection and was sick all night and got Dr. Kaplan (2nd time I got him for an emergency). Its time for him to hang up his stethoscope! He is crabby at best and actually kinda nasty....When I asked for a specific chewable antibiotic they DEFINITELY have he said they don't make that anymore. Um, well my son had it last year at PM Peds so its there. He again says NO. I said check your notes - don't they send a report to you? He finally looks and sees the report and says oh, I guess they do have it..but I haven't seen it so I'll prescribe the liquid and have the pharmacy call me if they have chewable. So he was more annoyed the parent was right. I said aren't you supposed to be "up" on medications for patients? No response. I had to call CVS myself and ask them to call the doctor back to get the proper medication.... We continue to go there for now, as I have "interviewed" other practices and they are just as bad. My son is special needs. He has been going to RBK pediatrics for several years. My son is on ADHD medication. His medication requires that he gets a blood pressure check every 6 months for refills.He was seen 6 days shy of three months ago. The doctor is supposed to send enough refills until the next scheduled appointment which should be June. The refills were not sent.The receptionist told me I have to reschedule an appointment he has five pills left. The receptionist got nasty with me and told me that I'm going to be sent a dismissal letter.He is not on a controlled substance but should not cut of medicine like that. My insurance company told me check up refills are every six months on this medicine not every 2 months and 23 days. The doctors are very good here but the receptionist is wrong and obnoxious. Worst pediatricians ever, do not bring your children here, both of my grandchildren were misdiagnosed and wound up in the hospital. Every diagnosis is an ear infection, my granddaughter (17 months) was diagnosed with and ear infections that she did not have,and ended up having a febrile seizure due to para influenza. My asthmatic grandson (19 months)went there and saw Nina Simon. He was coughing and wheezing And the doctor told my daughter that she was paranoid and he was not wheezing,told her that he had an ear infection and chastised her for him still having a pacifier. My daughter took him to Cohens Children's Hospital emergency room where he was indeed having an asthma attack and was swabbed for viruses had rhinovirus, para influenza virus three and Adeno virus, again no ear infection, they are horrible and dismissive and lack professionalism, the girl at the desk with the blue hair commented " this is what I hate about this job all the crying babies " Rude staff! read more

New Year's Eve we called at 10 AM to get an appointment for two very sick children. Lady answers the phone "what do you want?"...umm EXCUSE ME? Then after telling her an appointment is needed, she is continually nasty saying "well I can't do anything, we want to leave early today." First of all - this is your JOB. The staff was rather unfriendly but Dr. Rogu was EXTREMELY unprofessional. Walked in the room holding a cup of coffee and never let go of it, did not introduce himself, did not shake our hands. I decided to go on to the Commack Mom's FB group where I knew I would find a great recommendation for my son. We had moved from Branch Pediatrics in Smithtown, to the East Northport area and needed a new pediatrician. I made the appointment and we had our first visit yesterday. Dr Nick was our Doc, he was up beat, funny, personable and asked alot of questions. He was attentive and discussed w/me my concerns about other issues outside of the well visit. They were all pleasant through each step from reception, to testing to the exam. I was happy with the treatment and outcome. I do not agree w/some of these bogus reviews from ghosts and ppl not even from this state. I read the "1-star" reviews, and noticed that most of them have NO profile and only 1-3 previous reviews, ever. If you believe that well then... - RBK gets my vote of confidence, I will update at our next visit to confirm all is still well. I was so happy with them until this past week when my daughter got sick for the first time. They proved how incompetent their staff was. From ordering lunch instead of acknowledging a patient standing in front of them for 5 mins to neglecting my daughters health. I called at 9am and explained that my daughter developed a rash after I gave her the antibiotics they prescribed, I called back at 12 and they said the dr was busy and would call me, I called back at 2 and requested to be seen, they told me doc would call me back. This place needs a serious over haul. I've been taking my daughter here for two years. The first dr I saw wasn't the most helpful person and seemed a bit ditsy. The next time I came here I was at the office for well over an hour and a half for a physical. My daughter ended up needing four shots and was hysterically crying about it.. the nurses weren't comforting at all and were kinda rude about her being scared.. which is just wrong. Also telling a four year old to pee in a cup is just ridiculous. She refused to do it and they made a fuss about this as well. There is no regard for your time with this place as I told them I was needing the shot record and physical to bring to her school for kindergarten and all I was given was the shots. After realizing that I didn't get the physical I had to drive all the way back to the office where I was told I was going to be charged for a copy. I told the receptionist absolutely not, and told her the deal. I'm currently looking for a new pediatrician since I am not willing to bring my daughter back here, and I have another baby on the way that I wouldn't trust this place with. Doctor Rogue saw my three month old and seemed beyond disinterested. We told him about a new milestone our baby accomplished and his response was "that's ok"... He never once seemed like he even cared. On three separate occasions I was told I owed a balance even though I always pay my copay before I leave the office. Anna from billing could not tell me why I have a balance and told me it was my responsibility to find out through my insurance. I refused to pay the balance until I was told what it was for and was given the nastiest attitude by Anna. She is extremely rude and unprofessional. As it turns out the balance was a mistake on their end and I never once got an apology. Horrible office and doctors. I was sick for weeks with pneumonia and multiple doctors there told me it was just a virus probably and did nothing for weeks!!!!! I went there again and again when finally on the fourth or fifth visit i was told "we cant tell you what you have we can only tell you what you don't have". These people don't know what the hell they are doing and they have inadequate equipment in the office(non existent). Where is the x-ray? Etc. I went to stat health and i was diagnosed with pneumonia within minutes. And took an x ray to verify. RBK is the worst. Reilly is AWFUL. SO IS KAPLAN. I've been using RBK (Commack) Pediatricans for almost three years. And I've always spoke great about this practice. I never had an issue with them untill recently. The issue had to do with a fee I was responsible for paying (the fee is another story) HOWEVER, the way this fee was addressed to me by a particular staff memeber Kar**, was HORRIFIC (that's why i wont pay hehe:)). The first time she notified me that I had a fee for blah service and she would hate to see it go into collections. Mind you, I have collection specialist background. How could they send a balance under $30.00 into collections (possibly will cost them $10.00 to report to the credit bureau) is beyond my comprehension. And if RBK is worried about collecting such a small figure from patient's than they have BIGGER problems to worry about. (Keep in mind that I haven't paid the balance) The next incident was when Kar** felt it was very professional to yell across the front desk into the waiting room and say "you have 30 days to find a new doctor." Is it very difficult to be MORE DISCREET? And I feel that they belittled me because I appeared to be this petite latina with my toddler, looking like I was a single mom who will let anyone step over her (hubby is overseas). And I'm even embarassed to say that they made me feel embarassed! But at one point I disputed the fee and of course the little people never win. I can't complain too much about the doctor's there (Ms.Hickey is the best). But some of the front staff are running that place to the ground. And I don't want to begin to write about the office manager Kat**. The front staff makes this place look so bad. Let's just say this practice is crap for a lack of a better word. I have since switched practice and please take all of these reviews into consideration. Bye rbk! Call today because my daughter is sick and burning up they tell me I have a balance of 125 from her well visit almost two months ago. First all of all well visits are always 100% covered, second of all why wouldn't I be notified sooner? They want their money or they won't see her I can't exactly dish that out right now. I call insurance they tell me the way rbk filed the hearing test and the developmental assessment they filed it as not part of the well visit which makes no sense what so ever. As a newby mom picking a pediatrician was very hard my friend who has a 5 year old daughter said Rbk is the place to go . So I gave it a try I went in for a consultation they walked me through everything spoke to me about to what to expect gave me a book to read a little bag with formula coupons samples and a bottle I felt very comfortable and that my child was going to be in good care . If I have any issues at home with my baby im concerned about I simply call the office and a doctor calls me back in no time there bayshore office also has a urgent care center and they are open 365 days out of the year how awesome is that !! Kenya the receptionist in the bayshore office is always very helpful my son was constipated and I could not find a suppository Any where for his age group Kenya stayed on the phone with me at 9 pm and called a ton of pharmacies for me until she found one not many receptionist will do that let me tell you ! The office is always very clean everyone is always polite and the wait is very short I know if I have a problem I can call them or walk in anytime and as a first time mom that's a great feeling . This place was highly recommended to me by my sister, her husband had dr. Kaplan who is great! So I called to make an appointment... I had this unpleasant individual who lacked an ounce of professionalism and who was extremely rude and short tempered attitude named Stacy. Anyway although I hear okay things about the doctors I was afraid I'd have to deal with an unfriendly incompetent staff. I don't think they realize they are the face of the facility, it would have been my first visit there and this person completely turned me off! I don't want go deal with attitudes everytime I take my kid in because she's sick! There are other GooD! Pediatricians around I'd rather go to one with an all around friendly atmosphere. read more

Transferred my 3 children to this practice as their hours were great for a working mom and I just had a new baby. The front desk staff was awesome (usually isn't the case and I say this as someone that works in the field myself), Drs and Gina the NP was fantastic. They have an urgent care after hours which was awesome but I learned quickly not to take my kids as staff is limited and you could easily be there upward of 3 hours. In the time of 2 years, had no major problems until I had a billing issue after changing insurances. My new insurance billed incorrectly and I've been in contact with the office and the insurance to correct the problem. Even still, they refused to schedule a check up for my son. Jamie, the billing girl came on the phone and she is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. I asked to speak with the office manager Gloria who is even worse. Gloria quickly admitted not knowing any details of the issue but proceeded to give attitude and actually yell at me. I was repeatedly accused of not paying a bill for copays which had been paid since March. I requested to speak with whom she answers to and was told that is Dr. Nick. I put a message in asking for a call back from him. The next day Jamie the biller calls me back to advise the Dr refuses to call me because he agrees with the manager. She did however apologize which was appreciated but after being spoken to the way I was, I had left RBK and gone straight to another office and scheduled my kids for well visits. I actually left the office almost in tears today because of how horrible the Dr was toward me.. I switched to RBK a few months ago and have seen a few drs in the practice to try and find one I like best. So many red flags but I wanted to give them a fair shake.. first drove into the parking lot with a baby a few months old, I thought it was so dangerous and then I had to walk along commack road with baby in my arms with cars driving 40/50 mph down that stretch of road to get to the front door. So ok the office is in a very bad location, but I shouldn't judge the drs or office by that. So I get inside sign the sheet and wait 10 min before going back up and asking if they have any paperwork, oh yes they didn't see me ... for 10 minutes, the 6 ppl in the office didn't care to check if the patient they were waiting for had signed the sheet or was waiting in front of them. Anyways appt went well dr was nice and seemed knowledgeable. Went back a few more times , each time the staff was different and some ladies were very nice and through, others were ridiculously rude and maybe didn't realize they were working in a pediatricians office...with children. 1 appt with dr. bellovin, never again, horrible manner with children, didn't care about my child at all, didn't seem to know what he was talking about. Today at my checkup with dr Matthew who I had seen once before and who was recommended.. I actually cancelled my appointment, mid-appointment and had to leave. She was so rude, unprofessional and even acted childish. After being a patient of this practice for 11 years, I was forced to change to a new pediatrician. There was a problem with my son's insurance. Apparently RBK had been paid for services and then the insurance company wanted their $ back because he was not eligible for services at the time of the visit. He apparently went without insurance for about a year and half. I told them that this was clearly a mistake on the insurance end since they check eligibility at every visit and he definitely had active coverage when they checked me in for the appt's, otherwise they would have told me on the spot. RBK never contacted me to make me aware of this insurance issue. I had to find out that there was a $900 balance on my account when I called to request a sick appt for my soon to be 1 year old. They put me on hold to confirm with the billing dept. who authorized for my daughter to be seen for urgent visits ONLY. I had an upcoming appt for her 12 month well visit and shots about a week from when I was made aware of the problem. They refused to give her well care until I either paid them or fixed the problem with my son's insurance. I spoke to the Billing manager (Commack office) to try to explain to her that this was clearly a mistake and to give me time to fix the insurance issue. She was straight up rude. No professionalism whatsoever. She should be ashamed of calling herself a manager. She insinuated that I ignored my bills when they never even sent me one to begin with. I asked her to let me speak to a provider and she refused. She said that the providers don't speak to patient's regarding billing matters. I couldn't believe they would deny well care to my daughter when her insurance was perfectly fine and the problem was with my son's insurance. I was really concerned about my daughter's immunizations since she had been sick very frequently. After a week of going back and forth with RBK and the insurance I decided to call the Bay Shore office to speak to the Medical director of the practice. Finally they had Dr. Rogu call me back and I explained the situation to him. He said he would take care of it. He had someone call me back to tell me that they would make the exception. At that point I had just had enough and told them to not worry about her appt. I decided to change to a different pediatrician. I was so stunned that they didn't even take into consideration that I had been a patient of their practice for 11 years and in those 11 years not once did I have any problems making payments or getting any insurance issues fixed promptly. Like many of the other reviews on here, I feel the same way. RBK is in it for money & money only. When I gave birth to my daughter, I had complications with my insurance company and they didn't cover her until I submitted all of her info but being that I just had a baby, my head was elsewhere & I did not remember to call before her first dr's visit. After about 2 weeks, RBK sent me an almost $1000 bill and stalked me until I figured out how and who was going to pay it. My daughter was under a year old so she goes to a well visit every month and when I called to let them know my insurance company was going to pay for it, they suggested I change her appt until they do. BINGO! It's clear they only care about money and not the well being of our children. This is a newborn we are talking about that has to be checked. You suggest I change my appt just because you can't wait for an insurance company to pay you??? That was 1 incident. Another incident I ran into there was my concern for vaccinations. I am a first time mom and I have many questions. When I said how uncomfortable some vaccinations make me feel, Dr Kaplan proceeded to tell me I have nothing to worry about and that I get into a car everyday without thinking about it.. don't I?? Is that reassuring? I don't think so. That doesn't give me any sort of comfort but thanks! Another incident was when a friend of mines son woke up with a lump the size of a golf ball behind his ear. In a panic, called to make an appt to be checked and they refused saying if he wasn't sick, there was no way he could be seen because they are booked & they close after that. They would not budge to squeeze him in even though she was basically in tears from worry. And last but not least, I had a appt scheduled for 12:00, they called me, I missed it, heard the voicemail too late and it was the receptionist asking me to come earlier because they are trying to leave early. When I finally got to the appt, they were basically staring at me, making me feel uncomfortable that I had missed the call and didn't show early enough for them to "get out of there". Have you ever heard of this?? For a pediatric office, this is very very sad!! You are dealing with children. This isn't an assembly line which is what they make you feel like. I only give them an extra star bc Dr Bellovin is a favorite of mine. It's unfortunate he's apart of this office. This was my pediatricians office and my siblings who are all 40+ years old. I have been coming to RPK since my son was about 18 months old and my daughter was born. They are now 12 and 15 and I will never ever go back there again! Yes most of the doctors are nice enough but the office staff is totally unprofessional and rude! They do not even acknowledge when you walk in the door, no hello , no smile. All they want is your insurance card. I had a bad experience with Dr Mathews in 2005 after she told me to drop off a urine sample of my daughters (who was 2 at the time and was in a lot of pain and refused to urinate in the office). She assured me that someone would be there to receive the sample but when my husband went to drop it off they were closed. When I called the on call line I was treated poorly and told to take her to the ER if I was worried!! So I was upset and I yelled at the doctor. Apparently she has never recovered from that because 10 years later she refused to see my daughter for her check up! I made this appointment weeks ago and the day of the appointment they call to tell me Dr Mathews will not see me! I was shocked by this! I was upset and probably said to much at the time but isn't it part of the job to deal with nervous moms and to have some level of empathy? Unprofessional and I am disgusted. read more

never go to them!!!! for months they misdiagnosed my child, and did not listen to me, to the point i was in the office almost every day..it turned out my child had cancer. they do not want to be bothered...very nasty staff...and frankly just care about making all the money they can. read more
