We rented a place off of ocean Blvd south in north myrtle beach. The place is called chateau manor…read more Thomas 21 century real estate was the agent that rented the apartment to us. We signed the temp lease and arrived this past Thursday. When we entered the place we were surprised how small and cramped the place was. The pictures on the website were very deceiving and appear to be photo-shopped into making the place larger than what it actually is. When we opened the bathroom door; there was a foul, rotten stench. It smelled as if a small animal had died and was left in the tub. After catching our breathes from the horrible smell we realized that the smell was from mold that had spored and was festering in the bathroom. When I went into the kitchen to turn on the lights, I immediately looked down as something had caught my eye. To my surprise a full adult size COCKROACH scurried by my foot. When we turned on the water in the sink; the smell of raw sewage almost knocked me off my feet. The very next day we went to Thomas's office to report the problem. The rather heavyset girl at the desk listened to our issues about the mold and COCKROACH problem. She put a smirk on her face and told us that because of the extensive rain they had over the past couple of days, the COCKROACHs tend to come inside to "dry off". She then assured us that they will send a person out to take care of the problem. We then left the office and went about our business for the day. When we returned that night and turned on the light, the Adult sized COCKROACH had invited all his friends over. They were all over the place. We knew that Thomas reality had sent someone over because the broken screen door we found was fixed, but the COCKROACH Problem was not even touched. We found in the contract that Thomas has conveniently taken no responsibility about any pest problem in their reality property and does not refund any money because of it. So if you don't mind a COCKROACH infestation in your rental when you arrive on your vacation, then use THOMAS reality. We will NEVER rent from them again. Lesson learned. And it still smells in the bathroom. Thanks THOMAS for making us feel welcome in your ghetto rental!

Our condo had an issue with the cable, and Jocelyn and Roselyn did not stop until it was fixed AND refunded some of our rental payment for the trouble. They went above and beyond, and earned my loyalty. We stay in Cherry Grove every year, sometimes multiple times. We are also in the market to purchase a property and we will certainly buy through Thomas and allow them to manage our property for rentals. The property we rented for the week was just as advertised. No bait and switch, no hidden fees. My only problem is that I have to leave! My view for the last week has been the ocean... tough to say goodbye! The staff at Thomas is friendly, helpful, and hard working. They are local, and can you provide you with a good pizza delivery recommendation if your favorite pizza joint shuts down unexpectedly... (We miss you Luckys!!!!).

We had to come in a back way and park in the back of the lot, leaving the car running, to avoid getting a ticket. Once we were called back and told the room was ready the attendant just handed me the envelope and said enjoy your stay. I thought to myself - self - this is easy - but then I thought, how do we get there? So I asked. She nonchalantly said that directions were in the envelope. However, then another lady at a desk spoke up and said that I should not follow those directions and should instead take an alternate road about 12 streets before the one on the written directions. She never said why, but she said we would not be able to get through there. I think now it was because the street the resort is on is off the same street (cross highway) that the Alabama theater is in, so we might have hit traffic, but still not 100% sure. Once we made it to the resort we were not really sure where to park to unload our car or what building we were going to be in. We looked around for signs and did not see anything that made any sort of sense. A man in a uniform helped us read codes on our paperwork to locate the tower and suggested we move our car to the other side of the parking lot to make unloading easier. We made it up to our room and round the room clean and spacious. However, when I checked for the linen package we'd paid for I saw there were none. I called and listened to the elevator music until someone picked up and seemed shocked there were no linens and sort of huffed their way off the phone. She said someone would be over soon. We had no choice but to wait in the room until they arrived. It took about an hour. I asked this person about the check in room rating/liability sheet and she said someone would be back to pick it up tomorrow. I thought that was weird, but whatever. That night when we went to leave the complex we realized the entrance we had come in through was closed and said it was for emergency vehicles only. We literally had to google satellite view our way out of the complex since we'd been given no map of the area or given any information about the primary entrance. The next couple of days were fine, but by Monday morning we were wondering what we were supposed to do with the trash. It was piling up and we were running out of room to put things. We called the complex's front desk and they said maid service would pick it up. Again, I thought this was strange, because I did not think we had any maid service. When all of our trash was still there on Tuesday I decided to call back Century 21 Thomas and wait on their phone for them to tell me what to do. The associate who answered the phone was again - not so nice - and did not seem to mind that they were totally inconveniencing us by having to call them all of the time. They finally agreed they'd bring us a trash key after I refused to drive to their office (some 20 blocks north) to pick it up. Again, we had to wait in the room for the key to arrive. The key finally came around 3pm and the fellow took the paperwork and cleaned mold from the guest bath ceiling vent. However, when we went to attempt to use the key in the trash room door - it did not fit, and again we were stuck with the trash. I called back to Century 21 Thomas on Wednesday and was again greeted by a less than cheerful associate. She was unsympathetic with the trash key issue and then finally admitted that they could not find the key and that we should just leave the trash outside the door and that someone would come pick it up. Mind you that this is a very nice resort and the hallways look like a cruise ship, so I felt kind of bad piling up garbage outside of our room, but what other choice did we have? What I want to know is what key did they give us Tuesday - a key that they knew was not the right key? I feel bad for the owners of the condo because they are paying for a service that Century 21 is not providing. This place seems to not have their act together and to be very unsympathetic with their customers who are paying large amounts of money to stay on vacation. I will definitely return to the beach and stay at North Beach Plantation, but we will not rent from Century 21 Thomas.

And most particularly ones that I am using or referring to friends. Dave met more than my expectations and honestly I couldn't find anything to criticize. He truly LISTENED to us, our needs, wants and NOT wants. Dave spent time educating us on the area (we were totally unfamiliar with), toured us through only homes we wanted to see, negotiated a wonderful offer, guided us through all of the unbelievably confusing SC rules for real estate purchase and residency, all with the utmost of professionalism and good humor. Even months after we have settled he still continues to keep on assisting. His staff was responsive and equally as professional and polite. We truly can not speak highly enough of Dave, his staff and his service.

The pictures that were sent were from when the condo was first painted or updated. It was in poor condition, I didn't let a bare foot touch the floor and showered with flip flops on. First we get there and the building is in need of an power wash. Hallway carpets were so dirty and disgustingly Sandy and matted down. We get to our room and you had to forcibly shove the key in the lock to make it work. Upon entry it's very dark and strange smell. The walls were beat up like it's been years since a coat of paint was out on. The main barge room youcould see either rust or I don't want to know on the upper ring of the toilet. The kit he. The fridge was rusty, the cabinets were peeling, the silverware draw was dirty and the plans and appliances there ick. The plugs on the counter had rusted screws and all the cabinets has peeling fronts. We never ate there just slept and got out since the place was packed or I would have left. Thankfully we were only there a few days. The floor I'm not sure it was clean, hubs walked with socks and they were filthy in the trash they went. The air vent we noticed the day before we left has black stuff outside of it. Probably breathing in mold. Great! . The sheets and beds were clean. The deck was gross as well. The resin chairs need a washing the deck rug was nasty and dirty and sandy, again a power washing could help. The living room furniture was filthy the arms of the chairs were gross, we used clean sheets to cover them. The master bedroom floor same shape, the closet was also not too clean. The Bathroom had a jacuzzi tub, yeah nope! The jet holes were red like mold and gross just showered with our shoes on and got out. The sink again more peeling cabinets. The washing mashing was caked with goo in the cup nope no washing there. In the closet we're some metal stools that were all rusted and nasty also. We will never use again or be back to Baywatch. Wish I can add my photos!

We loved the view, beach access, all the pools, it was perfect for our family! Or so we thought.. Our major issue was COCKROACHES. The first night was great no issues the second night we woke up to multiple German Cockroaches in the kitchen and utility closet. I called North Beach Reality and was told that someone from maintenance would come spray but the palmetto cockroaches were native to the area. My husband stayed in the condo most of the day to speak with the maintenance worker to see what we should do with our own belongings. No one ever showed up. We started looking up the differences between German cockroaches and the American (palmetto) cockroaches and 100% the ones in the condo were German. The office had closed for the day, so I emailed North Beach Reality and told them that no one had came to spray. That night we left every light on in the kitchen, utility closet and dining room since they are generally nocturnal. The next morning we got up only to find more cockroaches. I checked my email and they did email back stating that someone had been there to spray but they would send someone else back out to spray again. I emailed them back letting them know that no one had been out the day before (I know for a fact they hadn't because we had placed things to see if someone had entered into the condo while we were gone). I also asked the realty company what should we do with our belongings. Their suggestion seemed like they were blowing me off, they said- "just shake out your clothes really well and keep your luggage zipped up". Our clothes were hung up and luggage was zipped but they can still travel... I am from Ohio where cockroaches are not native and are generally associated with unclean atmospheres. Bed bugs and cockroaches freak me out and I do not want to infect my own house with these. We didn't see any bugs other than in the kitchen, beside the refrigerator was a lot of roach feces. I posted pictures for you to make you're own decision on if you think it is "just" a palmetto bug. We saw with our own eyes around 20+ bugs each morning we woke up. If they sprayed wouldn't we find dead roaches? I honestly don't know how long it takes but I can tell you we didn't see any dead unless we killed them. I don't know if what we did was right but we washed literally every piece of clothing and immediately once it was removed from the dryer it was placed in a garbage bag and and tied off then duct tape around the knot. Our luggage is hard shelled so we placed it in a large trash bag with diatomaceous earth and then tied up with the duct tape. (We weren't messing around!) You would think for the $1800 it would be amazingly, perfect! And who goes on vacation only to make a $70 trip to Lowe's for cockroach killer? I was so excited for this vacation and staying in such a beautiful condo that is now completely over shadowed by the infestation.

We explained this to Kevin and he promptly pointed out that he sells 700+ properties a year and this is how it's done as to not waste his time.
