We rented from Elliott Realty in the past and they were horrible so I was hesitant to use another realty company but would definitely use Carolina Resorts again in the future. The only reason I took a star off was because the unit itself is old and a little rundown. The furniture is very shabby and needs replaced to the point that I went to Walmart and bought some cheap throw blankets to cover the furniture with because it was a little gross. But the condition of the furnishings in the unit is my only complaint. If you plan to rent unit 607 at Prince Resort, they sell cheap throw blankets at Walmart for $2.50 a piece, FYI! But the bathrooms and kitchen were spotless and the unit seemed clean overall.

    We have dealt with this rental agency several times and they have always been great to work with…read more They tried to help us find a place for us to stay for the week we wanted in June, we decided to return to their rental unit at Beach Cove Resort as we had enjoyed our stay at there before. We had rented 1511 at Beach Cove in the past and returned to the same condo. While the condo had had a few minor issues in the past this time it was really bad. The condo was not clean to the point when I went to check it make sure that we had not left anything in the room before we left I found old Cheezits under one of the beds. Not somewhere I would have thought to look when we checked in. My husband also said he found old pretzel bits in the living room. There was a tooth pick by one of the beds and a hair on the bath room floor as well. The condo has a serious mold issue. I have to take allergy meds every day and my chest and throat hurt most of the week. My husband had several severe sneezing attacks and a constant stopped up nose when we were in the room. I took pictures of the mold spots and stains on the wall and ceiling in the bedroom and showed it to the agent at Carolina Resorts and they said they would contact the owner. The room also had an unpleasant odor according to my husband and I could smell it from time to time so it had to be bad as I generally can't smell. 1511 is very dated and needs serious cleaning and updating. The last time we were there in Oct. 2012 I had made a comment about the wall paper sagging. This time I noticed that they had stapled it across the top in the bedroom - really tacky. While I recommend Carolina Resorts Realty and think they are a good agency to work with I am warning people not to rent 1511 until something has been done to improve it.

We noticed broken patio furniture, broken pool light, no batteries in the remotes, weird smell in the laundry closet, wasps nests on the balconies and other fairly minor annoyances. Then the big stuff started. Huge leak in the ceiling running the length of the bed dripping on us in the middle of the night and continuing thru the week. We had to move the furniture to stay dry. And last but certainly the reason I would never book with Thomas again, we had rats! They came out the last night of our stay. We caught 3, killed 2 and left one for evidence as we were hurriedly packing to get out of there. As this happened late at night the Thomas people were "unable to place us somewhere else" so we made our own arrangements (party of 13, not an easy feat) and preceded to try to rectify the problem with Thomas the following day. Not only were we treated poorly by the manager, Ken at Thomas, but we were not offered adequate compensation for what we had to put up with. He repeatedly stated that "we had a full week" and "he didn't need to see our pictures" and there was "nothing he could do". We were devastated and left knowing next time to do more homework and to never, ever let our family, friends or acquaintances book with Thomas beach vacations again!

The king bed was 2 twin beds stuck together. None of the sheets fit the beds. The beds were rock hard with only 1 flat pillow per bed. There were no curtains in the bedrooms, so they were very bright. Basically it was impossible to sleep in that condo, so it made our vacation horrible. In addition, tartan didn't provide dish soap, trash bags, or toilet paper. These are not things we usually have to take to a condo. There was barely any silverware and the stove only worked haphazardly. I guess they really didn't want us to cook, because there were no measuring spoons or cups either. I don't recommend renting anything from Tartan. You are better off with a priceline express deal!

They once billed us for "Hurricane Preparedness" $40 which was to remove our patio furniture to protect the windows, etc. Not a bad deal - if they had done it. We happened to be there that weekend and they never did this work! We have made repairs ourselves when at our condo and they bill us for the same repairs that their technicians claim they made. Make sure you are very diligent with their repairs. Make them send you pictures or do not authorize repairs of any kind without first being notified. We also have to fight to get the rental commissions due us. One check took 6 months to receive. When you live away from your property you have the right to believe that a company you are paying 30% commission to would be honest and care about your property, but this company does not. We are selling our condo very soon and will not be recommending Tartan Management to whomever the new owners are. Cindy H.

In addition, several of the mattress covers had disgusting stains. The dishwasher was broken and the dishes in the cabinet still had dried food on them as a result. Upon our arrival we had to wash mattress pads and dishes. The dishwasher was replaced the day before we left. This would be a great unit with some furniture upgrades and paint on exterior doors. Another concern that I have is the length of time it takes to have the security deposit returned following check out. With the concerns we had with our unit, I am not sure why I have to wait a full month to receive my $250 security deposit. That is entirely too long for them to hold a customer's money as I am sure the condo was assessed for damages upon check out. I was told the reason for the month-long wait was to ensure "people had not made long distance phone calls or charged up movies." I made the suggestion that in 2023, people do use cell phones and their own streaming services, so the policy seems outdated. THE BIGGEST ISSUE with Grand Strand Rental - Ten minutes after posting on another site a three-star review with the concerns mentioned above, I received perhaps the most unprofessional phone call from someone in management at Grand Strand Vacations. I was told that these issues were not reported, which is completely inaccurate! I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner. It was a COMPLETE LACK of professionalism. Do yourself a favor and look at their reviews on other sites as well. I would never use this rental company again!

They ask me for a review and the following is how I rated Ocean Pointe A2 in Cherry Grove on 6/24/23. I fully understand that things break, however the dishwasher being broken wasn't something that just happened, too many dishes placed back in the cabinets filthy. (A health hazard). It had been that way for a good while. Dirty (with blood) mattress pads should never happen if properly checked between renters, we had to wash 3 before making the beds. A 25 year old microwave with missing turn table tray is useless and should have been replaced when the parts were no longer available. If listed in equipment it should be in working order. The linoleum tile flooring was dirty and in bad need of a good cleaning, socks and bare feet got dirty from walking around on the floors after showering. All of the mattresses need replacing and weren't comfortable. The living room furniture was worn out also, you just sunk down in it and difficult to get out of. All the exterior doors were rusted, not a good first impression. I can over look a lot of this units cosmetic imperfections, however cleanliness and comfort are very important to renters. The dishwasher was replaced on Friday evening but too late to benefit us. The worst part is that none of these ratings are showing for future renters, they are covering up the true ratings and hiding issues. We will never rent from them ever again!
