Arthur and Polly Mays Conservatory of the Arts - The natural elements that make the school look nice

Opportunities are pretty nice but the actual school...not so much. In this school, there are some…read moreteachers that make it pretty clear that they don't like working with children which is ironic considering that they work in a school that is soon to be a k-12. Bullying is common in this school and when you bring it to the staffs attention they act like they're going to do something about it but they don't. Same thing happens when a teacher does something bad and you report it. Fights are not very common but recently there was a fight three weeks in a row. Students also get away with literally anything until it is wearing a sweater that covers their school logo. I have witnessed multiple teachers tell a student to not speak their native language because it's an "english speaking country". They also think suffocating someone with detentions and CSIs will magically change their actions or behavior. The students are either rude or racist with a 6% of students actually being good and the same thing goes for staff members. Students get away with bullying, intercourse, drugs, fights, sexting, and overall disrespect. There was also an instance where two students were going to the office to get a menstrual product with permission from their teacher who at the moment did not have a pass. They were stopped by a security guard telling them that they needed a pass and after explaining to the security guard that they needed the product, they were still ordered to get a hall pass (this took place immediately after the bell rung and everyone was moving to their next class so there was no need to have a hall pass in the first place). The art magnets are pretty good but some perform poorly (Entertainment technology). One of the Dance magnet's old teacher was good at showing the art within dance and don't get me wrong, the new one is good too but when the new dance teacher stepped in, most dances directed by that teacher have the dancers displaying inappropriate behavior. The school itself has pretty nice natural and artistic elements that make it visually satisfying but this is all true if you ignore the entire section of the school that has been blocked off because the school is falling apart. Also, sometimes the classrooms stink because there is literal mold growing in the vents. The bathrooms are fine and there is a handful of stalls that have no locks. There is also a bathroom littered with mosquitoes. This is overall a mediocre school when it comes to the arts but when it comes to the learning environment and the people around it, it fails to meet the high expectations that this school claims to meet

The food gave me a stomach bug. Most teachers in this school grade really unorganized. Say if you…read moreget an overall "B" in their class, your conduct grade would drop down from a 1 to a 2, and that's not how you grade. Like that's what effort grades are for... HELLO! Other than that, the school air is very suffocating, mold in the air conditioning triggers my allergies just as bad as when allergy season starts. Also, the staff worries about the wrong things. For example, why are you worrying about me in the halls without a pass when the teacher doesn't provide one, when there's other children vaping in the bathroom. It's very obvious too, open your eyes please and acknowledge the actual problems here. Other than that, it's an okay school. Thank you for your time!
