Then changed the date to September which I already had other plans in place for that time. I had paid in full for the BC trip and transferred that payment to another trip I had booked with them for October. Well, they cancelled that trip completely. It took almost 8 weeks to get full refund. The trip they offered to Yellowstone National Park never even made it into the park! I don't recommend this company at all.

The Cascades Camp is taking volunteers to help clear the overgrowth and then some in order to facilitate a nice network of scenic and accessible paths. Our group was given tools and guidance as to what to expect with the paths, but pretty much left on our own to do as much or as little as we wanted, and the Camp leaders were full of gratitude. It was a great activity of bonding with friends young and old, and we were fed three square meals a day in a vast high-ceilinged well-ventilated dining hall. We had time on our own to explore the grounds, particularly by the water, and the cool boxcar lodging area. Really cool experience for whatever party stays in those! A great hidden gem outside of Yelm!

Different years, different purposes, but always the same joyful, delightful place. The Cascades campus is huge, something I appreciate even more after spending a weekend clearing trails deep in the woods. Once you drive in, you don't need to leave the property for anything--just make sure you sign up for the meal plan! The meals are always tasty and ample. Nothing fancy, but always pleasant. It's amazing how much a weekend at camp opens up when you don't have to think about cooking. The lake is great highlight. Even though I've never visited when it was warm enough to swim, it's always a beauty to view. And this past visit, I walked down to the Blue Heron Marsh for the first time, which is another lovely water feature. Cascades Camp is family-run. They aren't trying to make a buck off of you. It's a family institution that wants to serve other families. The service is incredible. You are welcome here, and you will find joy in that that will keep bringing you back just like it does me.

Denise and Rick are the main characters in the story, and they will help you find another reputable driver if they can't make your deadline. I am without car (by choice) and happy to take the bus and get some walking in when needed, but there are nights, and weekend mornings that just don't work (retail hours, retail feet, and the #21 bus does not work for me all of the time). And, they make me laugh. Normally, in my years of taking cabs (work travel...and oh, so many stories about New York cabs, but worse stories around the Oly and Seattle area), I am the gal in the back of the cab not wanting to engage. They will absolutely respect your quiet time, but are pretty cool if you decide to talk. They are reliable. As close to on-time as possible (usually early), and they communicate if they get tied up with another fare.

This place is an awesome experience and nothing like what I just described. The man who runs this put up a sawmill on the property and hand cut all the boards for the buildings he has on site. This was not his only dwelling, but it is the only treehouse and it gets booked up in advance. Hint hint... Book now. When you first arrive, you get the grand tour of the property showing you where you can go if you're hiking and where to avoid. Terry is very good about stopping the ATV frequently and pointing things out. The scenery around this is incredible. Only been here a few hours and we have already seen deer and a coyote. The treehouse itself is incredible. It has two main floors, the upper one being the bedroom. Not recommended for more than two people. The downstairs has a nice layout with a small kitchenette, bathroom, right off the kitchen, lounging area, and a nice covered patio attached. The upstairs has a stairwell that I will compare to a ladder but if you pay attention, you will have no problem with it Queen, size bed, and extra blankets if you need. There is a fire pit near the main entrance and two benches and two side chairs. They keep a nice supply of wood and you will be able to use that for your fire. Down underneath the treehouse is a barbecue area complete with gas grill. Utensils are provided And it works well. All in all this was an awesome adventure. There's a two nights stay minimum but time will go by very quickly. Terry, your host is very gracious and keeps the property wall maintained. If you're looking for an adventure that's a little off the beaten path. This is the place for you.
