Moving to Tacoma was probably one of the most rewarding things I could have ever done... Being a…read moresingle mom of twins in a pandemic its not everyday you truly feel comfortable and supported when choosing a sport your kiddos will do for a year... At DEA even when I was unsure of how my kids (4 year olds) would respond to competition cheer the owner allowed us to take our time trying it out, getting comfortable with stretching and tumbles and all the wonderful things about cheer before we officially became a part of the team and paid anything.. People fail to realize how much of an investment this team provides to the growth of the elites all the way down to the youngest baby blaze... You have to be prepared to know and understand our handbook that every parent receives that lists prices and how often fees are due ( this is the most important thing to know before starting competitive cheer)... Every individual is treated not only as a team member but part of the family and as a person that is both unique and talented...With that being said with so many cultures and diversity this team has, they also take into account individual hair types, body structures, footwear comfort and even styling of hair when creating looks for gear and competition.. We have not experienced our first competitions but in just 3 weeks my kids have went from barely doing backbends to full blown cartwheels and can't wait to show me their progress... Im am excited to see what happens over the next year There are 2 quotes I leave you with: Practice with all your heart to perform with all of your soul Tears are for everybody but make sure you wipe them away with your sweat Come join the family at DEA - BABY BLAZE Team Mom

Her confidence, her skills! I remember her mom telling me how kind the staff was and the energy of the team being so positive. Fast forward, my daughter joined an all star team that needed a temp gym and we ended up at DEA! They are organized, put together and skilled! I would recommend DEA

If you have a toddler, try this place out…read more Roach's Gymnastics has several programs for those under the age of 3-4. We take our son and he loves the Gym and activities. All activities are lead by a teacher and at least for the toddler class it is not very crowded. A Much better option imho than Little Gym

If you asked me a year ago how I felt about this gym I would have said it is the best gym because…read morethey focus on school and family first. I would tell all of the parents taking their kids to gymnastics how great the place was and they should check it out. The decline stated in the summer of 2014 they said fear was starting to kick in and it was holding her back. My daughter was complaining of back pain. She was "afraid" of the pain not the skill. At practice they told her it did not hurt that bad, just push through it and stop being lazy. If she was doing something wrong the coaches told her to do better or try harder, but not how to fix it. Needless to say, last season her scores kept going down, instead of getting better. All of her confidence was gone. I always thought that you either had the ability or you didn't when it came to gymnastics, and it did not matter what gym you went to. A series of events made the logistics of getting to Roach impossible this year, and it forced us to find another gym. I took her to try it and let me tell you I was wrong, The gym you choose does matter. During the 4 day trial the coach saw a significant improvement in her skills. The first thing the coach said was, "You have been doing this for 4 years? With your strength and flexibility you should be at a much higher level, what are they doing down there what were they teaching you at Roach?" Remember the back pain since summer of 2014? Well that is because she was landing wrong and no one noticed or corrected her. Would there be permanent damage to her back? I feel like I wasted a lot of money and time in Sumner. I regret just staying there because it was comfortable. So now if you asked me about Roach I would tell you to think twice. Do not make the same mistake I did. The rates at this gym are equivalent to others in the area. Look around for quality training and make sure your gymnast is getting what they deserve.

Think twice before you trial any competitive program here…read more Our daughter spent two years on team and almost quit the sport entirely. In her last season she experienced retaliation from a coach, emotionally immature leadership, and conduct that violated their own handbook. When concerns were raised by multiple families, ownership declined to meet and responded with: "We believe we can move forward from here and work towards a positive season." Our daughter was eight years old. She lost confidence. She lost skills. Schedules changed constantly. Classes were added mid-season at an extra cost because, in their own words, they had too many girls to teach new routines at once. The list goes on. If you do choose to trial, ask about attrition. We are aware of at least five or six girls leaving a team of fifteen this season alone. That speaks volumes. Competitive gymnastics demands clear communication and genuine investment in every child. You will not find that here.

The facility is beautifully updated with new equipment that is used well by the coaches to help teach the fundamentals and build a solid physical foundation. The gym is clean, inviting, and absolutely buzzing with activity. It's so fun watching all the different levels giving it their all and having a blast. We loved the coach, and watching from the observation area, I was really impressed with the caliber of instruction and serious, but genuinely kind manner. As a parent, this was a valuable opportunity for my child to try new, challenging things and also to grow in grit and confidence. We loved it! The only reason I knocked off a star is that they do mandatory rolling enrollment, basically an auto pay type situation. They allow you to opt out under certain conditions, and the staff are really nice, but it would be nice if they offered an option to do one session at a time for the beginning classes, especially.
