My daughter loves CDT! She enjoys all the teachers and the staff. She has been dancing here for 4 years, and we can't imagine going anywhere else. The opportunities to be involved in large productions like the Nutcracker, travel with the dance team, and spring ballet give her so much confidence and teach her that hard work pays off. read more

I just came back from their Encore class for my toddler and I am fumed in anger. TO make it clear, my child is 3. She is not 13. She is not 11. Today was her trial case. I was a bit nervous as she has never done anything like this. However, I trusted that the teachers would know how to communicate and lead a toddler. After all that's why this is a toddler class. Because it was her first experience in open space like that, my kid was a bit energetic, wanted to explore the space. Like three years old. In response, teacher publicly shames my kid, finger pointing at her, " just because our friend is making a bad decision, doesn't 't mean we all have to" to her classmates. Even before that, the teacher publicly held her and scolded her many times in just 20 minutes we were there. Before class, I told the receptionist and the teacher my kid was bilingual, and may need a simple word to communicate. No such consideration. When my kid wanted to stand next to another child because she was excited to get to know her classmates, teacher responds "we respect our bodies and we keep our body part to our self." Um. The only thing she did was standing next to a tall girl because she wanted to make a friend. Are you serious? I initially wanted to let my kid finish the class. I couldn't stand her treating my kid as if she is a ugly ducky, even encouraging her classmates to label her as a "bad apple." So I told the receptionist to get my daughter. Wow. I will just wait another year and enroll her a proper school, meanwhile look for a private lesson. I own a small business myself. Also, I don't do this to a fellow female business owner lightly. However, I cautiously advise Ms. Stephanie if someone, any adult was publicly shaming a toddler, that's not an education, that's abuse. I am trying to raise a self-confident happy child. When I discipline, I go to a quiet space. I let her explore her feeling, and have her conclude what she wants to do. Her preschool teachers also NEVER publicly shame anyone. When your employee publically humiliated my toddler, I questioned whether to pull her out or have her finish the class then have a long discussion with the teacher. I did not want to risk my daughter's emotional balance being damaged by your employee any further. I do not publicly shame my kid, nor would I tolerate any adults to do so. Even if that person was my husband or my parents. I don't think you want this particular teacher to associate with toddlers. Being angry is an understatement of t how I feel right now. Nothing you did cause me to feel this way and as a small business owner, this may be unfair. Advise me if this individual is no longer EMPLOYED, or anywhere near a toddler. I will revise my review at that point. read more

Children's Dance Theater is a wonderful studio, and I've been meaning to write a review for awhile. My daughter started with their musical theater summer camp a few years ago, only because she was mildly interested in singing and theater and it was affordable and convenient for me. By the end of the three-week camp (which was awesome), she was completely in love with dance and has been taking classes here ever since. She's now taking ballet, jazz, lyrical and hip-hop, and wants to be a professional dancer someday. :) The best thing about this place is the teachers. Ms. Stephanie, the owner, is a wonderful teacher, in addition to being an organized and communicative business owner. Ms. Krystal, Ms. Debbie and Ms. Alashia are some of the other teachers my daughter has had over the years, and I have been so impressed with them as teachers and as role models -- it's really wonderful to have all these strong, talented and caring women in my daughter's life. I'm certain that her love of dance is due in large part to these teachers sharing their own passion for dance, and being challenging yet encouraging to the kids they teach. Oh, and the office staff and even other parents are pretty great too -- it's a really friendly atmosphere, and staff and other parents have always been helpful whenever I've had a question about costumes, classes, etc. It's so nice to be in an environment where kids can be dedicated and even competitive, yet parents are welcoming and supportive of other parents and all the other kids in the studio. Anyway, that's been our experience. I think it's a great studio for beginners as well as seriously dedicated dancers -- some of the kids seem to practically live there and the performances are pretty amazing. read more

Bad experience for my daughter. Can't say that I could recommend the instructor for lack of experience and not much knowledge on how to handle younger ones... the place is loud and smells. What's really unprofessional is the instructor who is vaping on a 5-minute break outside. She is gross. Children that take classes here shouldn't have to be around that. We aren't taking classes at this location again because of the smells and unprofessional manners of that one lady. read more

We started 2 summers a year ago to get my 3 year old introduced to dance and get a feel of what she was interested in. Took a break so she can get used to preschool and decided to return this year. So happy we did as she is excited to come to class every week and takes it very seriously. The staff are very friendly and helpful with any questions. I'm excited to see the June performance and see where dance takes her. read more

This dance school was all over the place. Very unorganized. Signed my son up after they had my money they changed him over to a beginning class. When he is advanced. Tried to put him in a jazz class! We supported them during lock down it when it came time for them to do the right thing they basically kicked him out. Did not care that he was discouraged. They put him in a little kids class without telling us! He is advanced. When I explained this I was told too bad. He was the only kid signed up for advanced so we put him in beginning class with little kids. Wtf! Who does that. He has been dancing for over 3 years and was one of their best hip hop performers. They seemed to dislike me more then anything because I advocated for my son. Their virtual classes were a complete joke. Very disorganized to say the least. And we continued to pay every month! To support their business. Just goes to show how covid has changed people. No compassion anymore. Smh. read more

My daughter has been dancing with this studio for over 6 years!! We have loved almost all of the instructors that have worked there. With the exception of the tap instructor. His behavior and inappropriateness during his classes left my daughter miserable! The style of dance she loved was almost single handedly ruin by him! Thank you so much Ms. Stephanie for realizing that this man was poisoning your studio and dismissing him!! My daughter has found her love for tap again and we will continue to promote and support your studio!!Thank you so much for listening to not only the parents but the students of your studio!! I had my three girls try out the summer camps in 2014. The next thing we know we it is now 2016 and my girls are very happy to be here! My middle daughter who is now 8 will be joining the team dance for the 2nd time! It has helped her out soooo much! Her behavior and grades has made leaps & bounds! I've never left a negative review on a business nor do I like to be a person that likes to complain, I have two daughters taking classes for the first time ever here and they love it. Their teachers are great! And that's why I didn't know how many stars I should leave. The reason I am not happy is because this weekend was their first recital EVER, there are many instructions from ticket sales to costumes, hair, makeup, rehearsals, picking and dropping them off in the green room you name it. Well, during my eldest recital I had to go outside with my 10 month old son as he was getting fussy when I came back in It was time to pick our kids up which is what I was gonna do since my husband took over watching the baby. I wasn't sure exactly where the green room was since my husband was the one who dropped her off but I saw a man open a door with a couple of kids and I followed him thinking maybe this is it, boy was I wrong the OWNER Stephanie Cox was behind that door and very rudely let us know that this door wasn't even an option I was trying to come closer to her to ask where I could go and she slammed the door right in my face and she looked very upset. I get it there's a lot going on and people like myself that aren't doing things perfectly can make it frustrating but you're a professional and need to know that for some of us first timers it can get very confusing. It's not cheap to put kids in these classes and for costumes already and then to have to deal with this is unacceptable, my youngest recital wasn't until later that evening and she had already ruined my day I was not happy so, I don't know if we'll be returning again yet unfortunately. read more

After a few very discouraging classes at expensive downtown (Seattle) schools, where they almost killed my child's dance passion, and many just blah classes throughout King County, we found Alashia at Prestige! She is an astounding teacher, who brings out the very best in her students, especially their passions, magnificently teaches incredible new skills, makes her classes fun and quite engaging, is very accessible for questions and mentoring, and she is so good at teaching the importance of discipline in dance. Alashia is truly a valuable asset to Prestige Dance studio as well as to the community and I feel incredibly blessed to have her as my son's teacher. Added thanks that this school is so close to home, but I would drive long distances for such an incredible teacher! The school itself is great, seems mostly geared for younger students, but does seem to promote dance discipline and dedication.
