Outdoor boot camp. You might not feel Marine-ready after, but you :will: feel like a bad-ass. On…read moreTuesday and Thursday, they offer Boot Camp and Zumba at 7pm, for $5. You'll pay, start with 5 laps, and a warm-up of jumping jacks, high-knees and so on. Then you'll split into groups of ~6-8 and start the real work-out. The day I went, it consisted of quick weight-lifting intervals done with makeshift equipment -- sand bags, heavy poles, etc. -- and/or body weight. I thought there was a good mix of upper- and lower-body focus. And my heart rate stayed up for most of the hour. Frankly, I thought the exercises could have been more challenging. But given the heat, and dirt, and bugs that come with working out outside, the less-intense level was kind of nice. The instructor offered some encouragement, and engaged with the group to keep us motivated, but also keep the mood light-hearted. There were about an equal number of girls and guys, and the group's fitness level was very diverse. So it's not too intimidating! Parking is kind of a pain-in-the-butt (my car got blocked in behind a few layers of late arrivals), but there's a neighboring lot that I noticed other people were spilling over into, so I'd recommend doing that.

A great place to get fit! I first started coming here…read morebecause of a livingsocial deal, but I can't get enough. The workouts are fun and challenging. My favorite classes are the extreme outdoor bootcamp and the full throttle class. At bootcamp you get pushed to your limits with burpees, hurdles, tire flipping, and more. Full throttle keeps cardio interesting with intervals the treadmill, row machine, strength exercises and more. I appreciate that it's affordable and you can walk -in without a membership (although they do have a membership option). Although I have a gym membership, I've found myself coming here more often than the gym.

You are able to focus on your goals and gain motivation from the rest of the members without feeling like you are alone. But all of this is nothing if the gym, members, and coaches are not approachable and welcoming. That was the first thing I noticed about the gym and haven't looked back. With a focus on not only training hard but also doing things together outside of the gym it offers a community and support that is missing from some of the other boxes. Highly recommended to anyone looking to start their journey or to finally accomplish what you've been meaning to for years.

I really enjoyed my time at this gym-every coach was really knowledgeable about the best way to teach the moves, as well as "scale" according to my needs. I was never once judged by a coach or another member for being a beginner to working out and over the course of the 6 weeks I was encouraged to go further in my workout. I really liked going to the early AM classes, because it was a smaller group size and a little quieter. The afternoons/after work are busy, but definitely enough room in the classes that the coach was able to give you individualized attention. If you're looking for a space that is inclusive and supportive, while still learning to be a crossfit warrior, this is for you :)

I have much less pain since beginning to work with Sam. She was able to diagnose the CAUSE of my pain and we have been working to fix that, as opposed to simply providing temporary pain relief. She is great about giving exercises to do at home which makes the time we do spend together very effective.

The benefits of having a goodnight's sleep and larger range of motion, allows room for a deep reset of so many limiting structures caused by negative mindset. Being passively stretched dispels perceived limitations in the body allowing it to recognize, that things really don't hurt as much as I thought they did. Being pain free, loose, are some of the benefits, but the highlight for me is the feeling of total and complete rejuvenation. If you're feeling stuck inside your body or inside your thoughts, I greatly recommend giving Thai Bodywork with Sam a chance, it's totally worth it!!

I signed up for a weekly membership after turning down the several attempts by Coach Tre to sell me on Herbalife products. This was a Wednesday. Coach Tre then advised me to start my 1st class that Saturday. I was with it all the way until I was billed for a 2nd week @ $50+ a few days later. I attempted several times to contact Coach Tre and his wife, Coach Ashley, for resolution. Coach Tre responded but only directed me to his wife. I reached out to her and was advised they were on vacation and would deal with me the following Monday. Both of them only responded to my cancellation request and ignored the refund request. I had to again reach out stating I would like a refund. I was then advised they don't give them. I replied once again stating this was a justified refund as I was billed prematurely. No response. If you join, please be mindful of the day you join and that your membership starts then and NOT when the owner tells you to start your first class. I paid for 2 weeks and only had access for one week. I am owed the refund as Elevate dropped the ball and gave misleading information. They seem to be a great bunch of folks, but not big on customer service or ethical practices. More time is spent on the selling of Herbalife than spent explaining billing, the cancellation process, and how your membership actually works. Never tell a client when to come and then charge them for the days you told them NOT to. Also the area with weights and bars is unsafe. I went to get a bar as instructed and it felt like I was going through the aisles of Dollar General to get there.

From the owner: Now taking on new clients in the Durham Area. New client special, call for details. read more

I have been going to these classes for years and I am so happy to get my Latin dance and exercise fix at Erica's classes. The choreography is amazing, the energy fills the room and what I love is that it is a no-frills class in a simple gym for all shapes and sizes. She also does not play traditional Zumba music all the time and I love the mix of hip-hop, Afro beats, Soca and Beyonce. Erica's smile lights up a room and her energy is contagious. She is in demand as an instructor and you can tell form her Zumba Zin tours that she is always on the move. She also teaches cycle classes at Sync Studio and hosts boot camps at E fit 4 life. Erica's mom and close friends run the check-in area and you sign up online at Mind Body. There are deals offered where you can stock up on classes or buy them for $8 each. Erica also has themed birthday dance parties on the last Thursday of the month en special events for Halloween and other holidays. She runs an email list for the 2000 attendees of her classes and sends out announcements via email and Facebook. Erica also does the halftime show at the Charlotte basketball game and has lead dance parades at the Caribbean Festival in Raleigh. I could go on and on but the point it, buy a class, put on your dancing shoes, and get out there and shake and jump and dance your heart out. You will be glad you did.
