Pros: - Very convenient location - I live right down the road and have found the South End to be convenient for just about everything I regularly need (banks, library, Dollarama, etc.). - A bus stop right by the parking lot and one across the street. - Fairly large parking lot. - As I'd mentioned earlier, the prices and deals are fantastic! Produce, meat, dairy, grocery...I've never found anything too expensive. I've compared prices in a few different stores and Food Basics wins out almost every time. - The selection is quite good - lots of variety in produce and a pretty darn good International Foods section means I'm content. - This location doesn't seem to be as hectic as the store on Notre Dame (thank god). I haven't had any issues getting in and out of the store in a reasonable amount of time. - My cats really like the grocery boxes I bring home. - Staff are pleasant. Cons: - Shopping carts are located outside, which I don't especially like, and they tend to take up too many spots in the parking lot. The cart corrals are often overflowing. In summary, this particular Food Basics has a lifelong customer in me.

Pros: - This Dollarama is quite large and the items it regularly carries are seldom out of stock. - You really CAN get just about everything here - home decor, toiletries, clothing, party items, pet products, food, school supplies, outdoor stuff, and much more. - The price, of course, is always right. Prices have risen slightly over the past few years - there are more items at $1.50, $2, etc. - but nothing is over $3. How can you go wrong with that? Better yet, if something is missing a price tag, it's automatically $1. - Like every other store in Southridge Mall, this place is never truly busy. This, of course, means that you can browse in relative peace and quiet. - Lots of parking; you won't have an issue finding a spot close to the store's entrance. - Checkout experience has always been quick. Cons: - Staff can be hit-or-miss - some are cheerful, some are sullen. Always worth the (short) trip!

I frequent(ed) this store often and didn't really see anything wrong with it. They sometimes get in liquidation stock from other stores. Like one time, I remember they had these old Gameboy carrying cases, where the box had water damage and they were at least 20 years old. (they were for the original brick-style Gameboy) Other times, I'd find bootleg DVD's in their DVD bin. Edit: As of July, 2015, Buck or Two in the Rainbow Mall has closed up permanently. I think a Dollarama is moving in there soon.

I attended home hardware recently to return an item I purchased. The cashier I dealt with was…read moreterribly unpleasant and she acted like I should know the home hardware policies by heart. I didn't know there was a 30 day limit to return the item, but nonetheless, the item had never been used and I felt it wasn't unreasonable to speak to the owner. The moody cashier attempted to reach the owner and was unable to do so. She claimed he was on his lunch break. She stepped out for a few minutes, came back and said the owner declined to meet with me and refused to take back my 14$ item. The cashier had a smirk on her face and it really looked like she was pleased not to take back my item. I will NEVER go back there again, not because I wasn't able to return my item but because the service that I received was so unprofessional and frustrating. I will make sure to tell all my family and friends about this experience. I do not recommend this store.

I go to the Kingsway location quite often, and I have been for months actually, but today I had an…read moreuncomfortable experience there, and that makes me want to avoid going in the future. I order food/drinks most of the time I hang out at Salute, and in the past, I've ordered as soon as I arrive, five minutes in, 30 minutes in, an hour in, etc. I've never had a problem. But today, I'd been sitting at a table for maybe 15 minutes when an employee came up to me and told me I had to order prior to sitting down. I was a bit shocked, and told her okay, but she didn't leave the table until I said I'd be over in a minute. She wasn't rude mind you, but it was a weird and it definitely made me uncomfortable, especially considering I saw her and another employee looking at me and whispering to each other before that. I've never had someone tell me when I have to order before, there or in any other coffee shop. I actually ended up leaving because it felt like I was being forced to order or I was unwelcome. I understand it's a business, but I do support them all the time and sometimes I like to take my time making a decision. I go to support local, and because the atmosphere is decent, even if everything is pretty expensive. But after today, I don't want to go anymore. Not sure if this was their individual decision, or if the managers/owners are asking employees to bug everyone to order as soon as they arrive. Either way, not cool.

I feel this second location has tremendous potential regardless of the competition surrounding this landmark- the old Deluxe. Too bad the classic Deluxe sign got removed because it's part of our history and if well designed, Salute could've still had a beautiful, dynamic sign of their own whilst keeping history alive....such a bummer. Cities / towns follow this protocol a lot but not good ol' Suds. :( Also, my pals say it's very difficult to interpret the hours of operation looking in from the hectic Kingsway-which makes sense. Being a slugging business owner myself, I would have a GIANT funky lit "open" sign (locally made) for the window...and, yes, it's costly and covid hit the restaurant industry hard..but you get my point..when the time is right. If you are able to make it in there during the lunch hours however you will be impressed. They have made to order sandwiches that are piled high with generous amounts of whatever meat you desire. This is usually served on a bun the size of a Nerf football. In addition to sandwiches they also have great lasagna and pizza for lunch. And don't forget about breakfast.
