You can tell right away he really understands the business, your needs and genuinely cares about what's best for you vs. trying to sell you the most expensive mattress. But, it gets better... After my wife and I got our first mattress with JD, 9 months later we decided we made a mistake (our mistake, not that of JD- we had bought split Twin XL due to my wife and i liking different firmness and in hindsight the split bed didn't work well for us- JD did warn us). I had purchased a queen Posh + Lavish bed with latex pillowtop and the adjustable power base. I absolutely love my bed! I then went back to the store and purchased two of their gel temperature control pillows. I then decided to purchase a new bed for my guest room so I opted for a full sized bed with box spring. I've had so many compliments from friends and family who visit. Now my mom is living with me so I'm going to be getting an adjustable power base for her as well. As a Director of a non-profit that uses state Medicaid funds on behalf of the disabled community, I am very disappointed in the service provided to one of my clients. The queen mattress and adjustable frame arrived at the same time. The delivery service was curt and forced the previous upholstered bed and mattress to be hauled to their truck, because they said they cannot install unless the room is emptied first. We asked about the adjustable legs, because it was too high to get into the bed. They shrugged and left. They demanded cash pay for the delivery, as they are a contractor and not a service by the store. That explains why the delivery charge was not on the receipt. At the time of the purchase, which took about 2 hours from getting to the showroom, there was a QR code to their Yelp page, and JD said that if we posted a 5-star review in that moment while he was watching, he would not charge sales tax. We opted out, as reviews cannot be made until the merchandise has arrived and tried at home. That explains the 750+ 5-star reviews on his business page. Immediately the next morning, the physical therapist asked why the joint pain has increased, and we explained about a new mattress. They guided us to immediately exchange it for something more supportive, because this one was soft and the topper was floppy. You can actually fold it into four! We sent our concerns via email within a few days, and did not receive a response. In week 2, we called about the email and they swore they never saw it. (JD responds to 1-star reviews by swearing that he checked all his emails and found nothing) In week 3, we requested information to process the refund. The mattress did not fix the back, neck, and hip pain, but in fact increased the hip and neck stiffness. As a result, we questioned whether the delivered item was the same as the mattress sampled in the store. In that phone call, JD employed his military strategies for keeping us on the telephone while he barraged us by pushing personal buttons, taking advantage of a disabled customer. State Medicaid money was used to make this purchase. Medicaid requires a bona-fide refund policy when purchase is made with state funds. The receipts and signed paperwork had no information about policies or warranties, and JD insisted that he had a "Comfort Guarantee" which only included coming back to the showroom and choosing a different model. Naturally, we never wanted to see him again. Failure to work with us to process a refund is fraud defined by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, regardless of store policy. The store policy kept changing every time we heard from JD, the owner of Real Deal Sleep. Any text messages or calls were met with hostility and manipulative verbiage. JD resorted to deception in unprofessional text messages and pressuring phone calls. When we read all of his 1-star reviews, we recognized a pattern in his conduct, especially with replying by posting personal identifying information about the customer, shaming them by recycling the same tune to everybody, forcing them to modify their review. Luckily, Yelp shows the original review for reference. We sent a formal notice that we can accept an exchange of the original purchase of a queen mattress, for 2 twin mattresses instead. Out of medical necessity, we already purchased a different brand mattress from a more reliable and appropriate dealer, and that is working out perfectly. As this defective queen mattress is now obstructing a hallway and creating a fire hazard, we are being pushed to drop off the queen at his showroom, and post a picture on Yelp to warn potential customers. We are happy to drop off the queen to his store, and pick up the 2 twins at the same time. read more

I have been friends with JD and his family for a few years so when it came time for me to get a new bed I knew exactly where I was taking my business. I went in on Monday afternoon and tried out several mattresses and power bases. I'll loved the Memory Foam Mattress and ended up going with the 'Cadillac' of Adjustable Bases. Customer Service was excellent. 2 days later my new sleep system was delivered and set up. The delivery company also took away my old bed. JD texted me to make sure the delivery was done. I would go so far to say that visiting this establishment has been life changing for my husband and me. JD, the owner, met us 1 on 1 (or 1 on 2, I guess) and showed us our options, was extremely knowledgeable on all things sleep related and was absolutely no-pressure in his approach.
