Our experience with this school, particularly its administration, was extremely disappointing. We found a significant gap between the values the school teaches and the way our family was treated. What happened to our 11-year-old daughter was deeply painful and, in our view, reflects a serious failure in leadership and accountability. There do not appear to be sufficient checks and balances to prevent abuses of authority or to recognize the harm that administrative decisions can cause to children and their families. No family should have to endure an experience like ours. Despite everything, we refuse to let this heartbreaking experience damage our faith in Jesus or God. However, I can understand how other families might struggle after being treated this way by an institution that claims to represent Christian values. I hope the administration takes time for honest self-reflection and works to ensure that no other child or family experiences what ours did. read more

I've now heard many parents that had to withdraw their kids from the school because they couldn't afford the tuition increase. The kids go thru trauma due to losing friends that they've made. My 7-year-old daughter attended Real Life "Christian" Academy for two years. During that time, she was a respectful student with good grades and no disciplinary issues. She was kicked out innocently due to this below. The conflict began after I preached the Gospel outside the entrance of Gatorland before a school field trip. I recorded a video and posted it on social media. According to the school, students from another school may have appeared in the background. Dean Dawn contacted me and demanded that I remove the video from my social media accounts. I declined, believing I was exercising my constitutional freedoms of speech and religion. An elder from the school later became involved and also requested a meeting regarding the video, which I declined. The family then spent months trying to preserve my daughter's enrollment. Eventually, I removed the video in an effort to resolve the matter. However, I was then presented with restrictions that I felt were unreasonable. I was told I would only be permitted on campus for drop-off and pick-up, and that attendance at events, ceremonies, and other public parent activities involving my daughter would require prior authorization. I informed the school that I would not attend field trips, would not preach, film, or pray for students on campus, and would respect those boundaries. During a meeting, I was also told that one concern was that I had prayed for students on campus. As a parent at a Christian school, I found that surprising. This experience left me questioning what biblical principles the school follows. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations." As a Christian, I take that command seriously. Another disappointment came during my daughter's elementary ceremony, where students performed songs from The Greatest Showman. Not one song was Christian, and not one song was focused on God. For a school that identifies itself as Christian, I expected faith to be more evident in its activities and culture. Based on my family's experience, I cannot recommend this school to families seeking a Christ-centered education. We found the environment to be far more aligned with worldly values than with the biblical convictions we expected from a Christian institution. I wouldn't even say they are lukewarm. I would say they are worldly. You might as well send your children to public school--it's practically the same thing. Just add a few Bible classes, and now they can call themselves "Christian" while charging outrageous amounts of money. One more thing: they changed the school uniforms three times and did not reimburse families for the unused uniforms they had already purchased. They also required families to purchase a specific black jacket from a company that embroidered the Real Life logo on it. The company went out of business, and many families never received their jackets, including myself. Yet families still had to pay $65 and were never reimbursed, nor did their children receive the jackets they paid for. And since they unjustly removed my daughter from the school, I requested a refund of the registration fee I had already paid for next year. Im surprised more people havent written reviews about RLCA. I will keep mine short and sweet (as I have a thing about rambling on). RLCA is one of the best and reasonably priced private schools in the state of Florida. The teachers have an amazing commitment to the students and to the Lord. Both of my children love attending the school and don't miss public school setting one bit. Dr. Long, the headmaster, is a witty, intelligent and funny person and really wants what is best for his students. If you are even just thinking about RLCA for your kids, I would highly suggest it. read more

This school is ok. After going here for 3 years, I have come to the conclusion that I would not send my kids here. Even though the christian education is nice, the school does not do a good job at prepping the students for college. Also, I would have liked the clubs to be done in such a better fashion than what was done in my final year there (do them after school- clubs should not be taking up valuable class room time & don't make them mandatory- some students might have other stuff to do after school or might need the full time in class as they are struggling with that particular subject). read more

My son got suspended from his school. I thought Real Life was the best alternative for him. I needed to get him back in school asap. I called them and explained the situation. They never even called me back. They were not there for us when we really needed them. read more

I was so disappointed in this school, Tori Farmer Director of Enrollment should not be in that role, she was completely rude for someone who is suppose to make you want to enroll your kids in the school. I called the school for a week trying to get hold of her for a tour, then finally had someone call me and said I can come in on Wednesday, Tuesday night I checked my voice mail and had a message from Tori informing me my tour was cancelled and I can go in at 8:30 or 9 am on Thursday or Friday. Thursday I showed up at 9am to be informed Tori was busy, I asked the person at the front, can I wait on her and she said she doesn't know what her schedule is like, I then asked if there was anyone else I can speak with and she said no. Tori then called me later that afternoon and was extremely rude, telling me she expected me at 8:30 and I didn't show up and they don't take walk-ins and she had nothing else available for me. How can you expect me at 8:30 when she never spoke to me to confirm and she told me she was available Thursday and Friday at those times. This is the first Christian school I've ever been to with such rude staff...Definitely would not be sending my girls to this school. read more
