If you see my other review on my other account, that's old, so here's my new one. :)…read moreI've been going to this school for two years now, and overall, the school isn't bad. The facility is pretty good, and has really nice guidance counselors. The overall design of the whole campus is pretty good, with all the buildings not too close to each other, or too far. The teachers are overall good teachers, and the school houses a lot of different electives to choose from (PE, Art, Technology, etc.) You are given assigned seats at lunch, which seems kind of stupid, but then again there would probably be many problems with bullying, so you know. The lunch is alright for how school lunches go, and has many different lunch lines to keep everything moving. I don't have any problem with any of the bus drivers or the bus system, as they're nice. Front parking could be a little better (since it's on a hill), but it isn't bad. Quite a few fights between students though, but as long as you don't intervene with anything with any other kid you should be fine. Overall, school isn't bad. Could be better, but definitely isn't a bad school at all. Oh, and... Go Spartans!

RLCA is one of the best and reasonably priced private schools in the state of Florida. The teachers have an amazing commitment to the students and to the Lord. Both of my children love attending the school and don't miss public school setting one bit. Dr. Long, the headmaster, is a witty, intelligent and funny person and really wants what is best for his students. If you are even just thinking about RLCA for your kids, I would highly suggest it.

What happened to our 11-year-old daughter was deeply painful and, in our view, reflects a serious failure in leadership and accountability. There do not appear to be sufficient checks and balances to prevent abuses of authority or to recognize the harm that administrative decisions can cause to children and their families. No family should have to endure an experience like ours. Despite everything, we refuse to let this heartbreaking experience damage our faith in Jesus or God. However, I can understand how other families might struggle after being treated this way by an institution that claims to represent Christian values. I hope the administration takes time for honest self-reflection and works to ensure that no other child or family experiences what ours did.

My kids were both born in Florida, and our family has moved around quite a bit, so we've seen different school environments. That said, Windermere Prep has been much more than just a school for our family it has truly been an experience. The campus is beautiful. The classrooms and teachers are nurturing, and the school offers strong academic programs, including the IB curriculum. My children have also had opportunities to participate in international trips and other experiences that helped them grow beyond the classroom. At the same time, like any school, students still need to take responsibility for their own studying and effort. I've found several administrators and teachers including Mr. Villatico, Dr Fouche, Mr Muenker, Ms. Gemma very supportive and easy to work with. When concerns are raised, the school does respond and work toward solutions. We are proud to be Lakers.

My family and I were very disappointed with our experience when trying to schedule a school tour…read more As Deaf parents, we simply asked The First Academy to provide an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter so we could fully understand the information being shared during the tour. Despite multiple emails and opportunities to reconsider, the school declined to provide an interpreter. Instead, we were told to rely on written communication, tablets, and "extra time," which are not effective or equitable substitutes for real-time ASL access. This does not provide meaningful communication for Deaf adults, especially during an important process like evaluating a potential school for our children. We were also told we could "bring our own interpreter," which shifts the burden of accessibility onto families rather than meeting basic inclusion standards. We left the interaction feeling that the school was not prepared to support the communication needs of Deaf parents. Accessibility should not be optional, and it should not depend on families paying out-of-pocket to participate. I hope the school takes this feedback seriously and re-evaluates its approach to serving Deaf and hard-of-hearing families in the future.
