As far as I knew it was normally a donation based fee. To do such underhanded act is disgusting of a school administration. To top it off, they also charged for beverages, candy & popcorn; why? You already charged a mandatory fee to all visitors, therefore why do such a sneaky underhanded act? It is in the school administrations best interest to inform all parents ahead of time, when any future concerts are held of any fees imposed. I overheard many people complain because some did not have cash handy. If you want parents & families to pay, have a credit/debit card machine to also facilitate those who do not carry cash. I've never seen such tackiness of any school administration & I've visited several in different states.

RLCA is one of the best and reasonably priced private schools in the state of Florida. The teachers have an amazing commitment to the students and to the Lord. Both of my children love attending the school and don't miss public school setting one bit. Dr. Long, the headmaster, is a witty, intelligent and funny person and really wants what is best for his students. If you are even just thinking about RLCA for your kids, I would highly suggest it.

There do not appear to be sufficient checks and balances to prevent abuses of authority or to recognize the harm that administrative decisions can cause to children and their families. No family should have to endure an experience like ours. Despite everything, we refuse to let this heartbreaking experience damage our faith in Jesus or God. However, I can understand how other families might struggle after being treated this way by an institution that claims to represent Christian values. I hope the administration takes time for honest self-reflection and works to ensure that no other child or family experiences what ours did.

Though the school is…read moreconsidered "nice" by most parents, most of them will probably agree that there is nothing special about Montverde Academy as far as education goes. The school allows retakes of important tests which may increase the students' total grades. The parents may feel "preppy" about their kids getting dressed in purple and yellow but most of the parents would agree that Montverde Academy is not worth $20,000 a year plus other hidden funds the school is attempting to get out of the parents throughout the year. Real life social skills (like arguing, debating, spitting, etc.) are difficult to learn in Montverde Academy when everything is so protective and the kids study in a "cotton ball" environment.
