(2/5) Today I…read morepurchased a brand-new garbage disposal from Lowe's in North Naples for one of my customers. When I arrived at the job site and opened the box, I found old, dried food still inside the disposal. It was clearly a used item that had been returned and placed back on the shelf without being properly inspected. As a handyman, this meant I had to stop the job, pack everything back up, drive all the way to Lowe's, exchange the product, and then return to my customer's home. I lost approximately an hour of work because of a mistake that should never have happened. When I explained the situation to the service desk and asked if there was any way they could compensate me for the time I lost due to their error, one employee actually laughed and dismissed me with, "Have a nice day, sir." That response was far more disappointing than the original mistake. A manager eventually offered a 30% discount on a future purchase, which I appreciate, but it still doesn't change the fact that I lost valuable work time or that I was treated disrespectfully. Mistakes happen. Selling a returned item as new is one thing. Laughing at a customer who has been inconvenienced by your mistake is another. As someone who spends thousands of dollars each year on materials for my business, I expect better quality control and much better customer service. Going forward, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

That disaster ultimately ends with people who overpromise, way underdeliver and simply do not come through. No one needs any of that during a construction project... GC Flooring on the other hand is everything we could've asked for and more! Walking into their immaculate show room that was so organized, neat and full of the latest styles, was just what we were looking for. Mayra was nothing short of a lifesaver for the build-out of our home in Naples. Her style choices were always right on the money. Mayra got to know our goals, and knocked it out of the park. What an incredible design professional! With the patience of a saint she shared one expertly curated collection after another, with so many options, one nicer than the next. Mayra helped us pick the very coolest tile options for all of our bathrooms and the most kick-ass Legno Bastone wood flooring for for the rest of the house. When it came to the mission-critical phase of getting the quantities correct, Sharina worked extremely closely with us to make sure that all of our wants and needs were satisfied. She was always so eager to please when it came to the many changes we made along the way, without fail throughout the entire evolution of our project. Sharina was also eager to lend her very creative eye and expert sense of style when it came to the design choices we were deliberating on. We are so grateful for her help! When it came time to place our order and procure each selection, even in the midst of an epic supply chain crisis every piece of material was delivered early, which is unheard of in this environment. We cannot say enough about what a wonderful experience we had working with GC Flooring and how grateful we are to have had the opportunity to work with Mayra and Sharina! Two intelligent, progressive, design focused ladies who were both sweethearts to work with and nailed the execution on every phase of our project. Thank you GC Flooring! Don and Odette Scacco

I was impressed with the selection they had and the staff is helpful. This is not a big box store, when you go into the yard, you are expected to load your selection yourself, then drive through to get it weighed. They do have staff available who will load for you, and I definitely asked for assistance in loading the small boulders I selected. They supply shovels or you can bring your own. A cardboard box or contractor bags are good for smaller items, larger purchases can go in the trunk or in back of your truck. The price is reasonable and they have a great variety of materials. On my recent visit, I was looking for decorative gravel to go in the Zen garden I'm working on. They still have a great selection of various gravel in many different colors. Superior Stone is a good company to buy from, they are professional and offer quality products at a reasonable price. I'll be back for the next project.

If you don't have a pickup to haul a half ton, you can come with five gallon buckets and fill them yourself. They even have shovels for you to use if you don't have your own.

We went through an independent contractor who we were referred to for granite kitchen countertops…read more The contractor recommended UMI. I visited several times and eventually picked out a stone slab that I liked. The job was going to require two slabs though and the second one was behind the one I approved. I was told by the UMI salesperson and the contractor that the second slab was from the same lot so would look the same so my bad that i didn't require them to move the first one so I could see the other one. After the countertops were cut and installed, the one slab clearly had a problem. It has a brownish hue and when you looked at the beveled edge you could see that it was a surface issue probably in the finishing. I sent pics to both the contractor and UMI showing that something was wrong. I was told they can't guarantee that there are "minor differences" between stones because that is just the way natural stone is. Yea, but why does it look fine about 1/16th inch under the surface? I asked UMI to come examine and give me some thoughts on fixing. I was perfectly fine with paying for refinishing. I was told that I must go through my contractor and not UMI. They wouldn't even consider helping me until I told them I get no responses from the contractor after numerous attempts. Sorry, not our problem. Beware, UMI does not stand behind its products. If you do do business with them, be extremely careful and don't assume anything. If something is wrong or they sent the wrong slab, its on you.
