Run by a group of women and the lovely owner is from Enfield in county Meath. All the food from the farmhouse cafe comes from their farm and is made fresh everyday. The meat is from their animals and the bread and treats are baked in the cafe. I love how it has an old country house feel to it and the teacups and teapots are a random collection that look so pretty. My favourite thing from the menu was the Gammon sandwich. I no longer eat meat and this sandwich makes me struggle every time I see it on the menu. Oh the temptation.

I thought I'd try this place as I'd heard it had reopened. This time I got french toast with bacon and it was really good. The cafe wasn't full but it was fairly busy and the staff were attentive and friendly. There wasn't long delays as there had been in previous versions of this place (if there had been a long delay, I might have died, as I was hanging!). The waitress brought be a glass of water unasked... I don't know if this was because I looked so awful or because they do it as standard but I was grateful! Price wise its pretty good, a massive bowl of soup with two slices of bread for 4.50, a massive plate of salad for 4.50 a sandwich for a similar price is great. The main courses are 8.50/9.50 and you get loads but I haven't really enjoyed one of them. I'd rather less on the plate but a bit better quality. However its got to be said its the only decent place for miles in this area, so if you are in the area give it a try. The hot food is popular so I guess most people must like it.

It seems to stick to regular daytime hours (when I'm at work elsewhere) and open Saturdays but not Sundays. As it turns out its always Sunday that I want to have a nice breakfast or sandwich somewhere... I actually only managed to go there because I had a random day off work and even then the till seemed to be closed at 2pm, so maybe they don't open that long. Also they seem to lack signage so it took me about two months after I'd moved round the corner to realise there was a cafe there. OK aside from elusive opening hours I'm mostly happy with the place. It's quite cute, and the prices are reasonable. The food that I did get was quite good, sandwich made with really nice bread. I did find it a little cold in there, but then I did sit down right beside the big glass wall in early january. I think it will be a nice place in summer If I ever get to go there again. I'm pretty sure I'm going to feel aggreived regularly on Sunday mornings when I get up thinking "today I'll go out for breakfast as a treat" and then remember that it doesn't open and that there are no other cafe's around. I've had a few drinks here before and knew to expect it not to be busy or have much of an atmosphere, as it was a Saturday and we wanted a pub grub meal so this actually worked in our favour! W sat at 1930 for a our meal and ordered away, I had the bruschetta & goats cheese for starters, was't great at all, I then opted for the steak sandwich, which to be honest was't any better! I know, I know, what do I expect for pub grub but it really was below average for pub grub. The staff, were, for the most part attentive and helpful. What really annoyed me was at 21:00 music started playing from the function room above! we all had to start shouting across the table to hear each other! when I looked around at the few other people eating I could see it on there faces too! Monday: Turkey and ham, Tuesday:Meatball Marinara, Wednesday: Turkey, Thursday: Italian BMT, Friday: Tuna. My favourite sub of the day would be Turkey and ham which is quite nice with light mayonaise. There are many different breads you can have which would be Italian, Hearty Italian, Italian herbs and cheese, honey and oats and Wheat. My favourite would have to be wheat or Hearty Italian. They have many different salads to add to your sub and a variety of dressings to choose, from honey and mustard to ranch sauce. I have the sub of the day on wheat bread Monday to Thursday as they are very reasonable and very delicous and on Friday's I have steak and cheese which is very delicious on Hearty Italian bread with Barbeque sauce. In Subway they have meal deals where you can add a drink, cookie or crisps to you meal for a few euro extra. If you wanted to make your sub into a salad or wrap, you can do that for an extra 30c. Also if you were really hungry and the 6inch sub was not enough for you, you can make it a footlong (12inches) for a very reasonable extra €2.20.

Well that's finally arrived in the form of a lovely Italian (as in the people running it are Italian) cafe/restaurant called Cafe De Bróc. They make their own pizza (regular AND gluten-free, which my girlfriend can confirm actually is gluten-free) as well as several pasta dishes that I'll be back to check out. They also do lunchtime regulars like a club sandwich. I had the lamb burger topped with blue cheese myself which was lovely and came with a side salad or chips. Aoife was very impressed with her pepperoni pizza, although was regretting her lack of adventure when we saw another pizza come out topped with Parma ham. It looked amazing. The pizza, burger, a sparkling water and takeaway coffee (good and strong, the way you'd expect Italian coffee to taste) came to €32 which i was happy to pay given the quality of the food. The staff were very friendly, particularly the manager/owner who showed the kind of concern and friendliness that you only get from someone who has a personal stake in a business. The space itself is very bright due to glass doors along half the front of the restaurant which was nice to have on a sort-of sunny day. In closing this is a lovey little (seats about 30?) place that i'll be coming back to again and again.
