Traveling between Christchurch and St Patrick's Cathedral and we're pretty hungry as we walk by this little shop. It's raining and it looks like there's no room but we get luck and find a spot in the corner for our party of 5. My Americano was so necessary as the coffee at my hotel was horrible so I didn't drink it. Everyone seemed happy with their drink choices as we began to order a late breakfast. We shared between us the porridge with banana and honey was great on this cold morning. We also had a brie, ham and cranberry sauce. This was definitely everyone's favorite and we decided we are going back for more tomorrow. My son knows I love bagel and lox so we tried one of those, he was very happy with his choice until he tasted the brie and ham sandwich. We also shared a pecan and coffee cake, it was OK. The ladies working here were very nice and despite being very busy got our food out quickly.

Great spot for a quick bite to eat on your way to see the many attractions in Dublin. Healthy options as well as regular breakfast menu.

What an absolutely charming little place. Breakfast served all day and plenty of very sweet ladies taking care of you. My wife had smoked salmon quiche and she loved it. I went more traditional with eggs, bacon, sausage and a very good toast. Forgot to ask but it looked a little like a light rye. Only thing missing on this menu was grits. We Texans miss our grits when we travel away from the south. Fresh squeezed orange juice, milk and coffee. I have to ask when we get back to what type of coffee it was because I liked it a lot and I'm not a big coffee drinker. This was our first breakfast in Ireland and we are going around the Emerald Isle coast on a 14 day tour. All my breakfasts from here on out will have to live up to this standard. We loved Dublin and the natives are such a sweet land happy group of people.

I just love sitting in front of their fire and their coffee is so good. This is a tiny little place but quite comfortable with lots of cushions. The banana, apple and cinnamon smoothie is delicious altho a bit pricey at €4 but for a treat, worth it. The service is quite friendly and you don't get the feeling of being rushed out which is a bonus. The first time there I had brekkie with scramble egg, crispy bacon and spicy sausage which just hit the spot and made this a place on my list to places to come back to.

Some things in life are bad, they can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble give a whistle This will help things turn out for the best Always look on the bright side of life Always look on the bright side of life Ok sorry just everytime I see the sign for Bite of Life I can't help, but sing Bright side of life in my head. I think it's something to do with bite and bright rhyming! Anyways! This is a good little shop to pop into if you need to warm your bones and fill up on some coffee! They've also got a good selection of different sandwich fillers and everything always looks fresh and home made. Much better than the slop you get in a Spar sandwich!

Randomly stumbled into this cafe right after we checked into our hotel. My brother got a sandwich and I got the (choose 4) salad plate. Everything was incredible and perfect for the health foodie like me :)

Chicken Tikka toasted sandwich with peppers and leaves. Great sandwich, great place!

Close quarters but food is surprisingly fresh and creative. Salad selection is good. Quick stop in the St Patrick's cathedral area.

Open early so if you're struggling to find a place, this is it. The Irish breakfast hits the spot - the buttery toast was heavenly and the blood sausage was my favorite part - hearty and delicious. It also came with sausage, sunny side up egg, sweet beans and ham. The service is like none other from the minute you walk in, you feel like you're at an old friends place and as you leave, they give you recommendations and a list of local bars and hangouts that Irish people love. When I go back to Dublin, I'm definitely going back here for breakfast.

Maybe sarcastic but not rude. What was annoying was them telling everyone their credit card machine would be down and then you'd have to wash dishes or stay until it came back up. They did this to the table next to us but then came back and seemed like it was a joke and was like "oh it's back up." When it came time for us to pay they said it was down and needed to pay cash. We pushed back a little and said you've literally said that to everyone then the guy became rude. So we get out cash and go to pay and he's like oh I'm restarting the machine you can pay by card. That was annoying. Other than that place was small and quaint. Serves traditional Irish breakfast items. Food was good, just don't expect anything to be favorable. Food in general in Ireland is very bland.

I didn't wait more than 5/10 minutes. I grabbed a couple of different things for us to try -- the focaccia, morning bun, salted caramel roll, and the cinnamon roll. My favorite was easily the focaccia, which could compete with the best I had in Italy -- so good. The morning bun was good, but nothing crazy exciting. The salted caramel roll had to be the least caramel-y caramel roll I've ever had, but it didn't taste bad and the salted part was interesting (in a good way!). The Cinnamon roll was unique, which I appreciate. It had a big glob of cream cheese frosting (too much for me, but I imagine it would float a lot of folks' boats) and some orange flavoring! I quite liked the orange. I wanted to get a matcha to go, but they said they didn't have disposable cups. You could buy a 5 euro reusable one and then if you brought it back you'd get a refund... interesting, but I was leaving that day and wouldn't be back in the area. I can't speak to the ambiance because we were in and out, but it looked like they had a decent amount of space. All in all, I would recommend this place! For me it was a 4, but I'm sure for some it would bop up to a 5.

For my tastes the double baked eggs were overdone, but that's double baked for you. Everything else was so delicious though that I truly didn't even notice. It was a wonderful pile of meat overflowing out of a little skillet with a stack of soda bread and butter. Truly it was a delight. I also ordered up their irish coffee. This was especially fun because it's not a simple shot of whiskey, coffee and cream. They create a brown sugar syrup blended with the whiskey to cook off the alcohol but retain the flavor. This means you can day drink and not even bat an eye at it being strange. The flavor was delicious and I'll be trying to recreate this at home for sure.

I walked in on a Wednesday morning, right as they opened at 9am, and was seated immediately. The sit-in part of Brother Hubbard is bright, relaxing, spacious with plenty of tables inside and there's a patio outside with plenty of tables as well. The waitress came over with a menu and gave me plenty of time to look it over. She was very courteous and pleasant, checking in throughout my time there, never hovering. For breakfast, I ordered an Americano, a ginger scone, and their Irish Oat Porridge - Classic. Their porridge is organic oats made with milk and with ordering it as "Classic", it was served with cream and honey. Starting with the ginger scone, this was another case of a perfectly baked scone - Crispy, golden exterior with a moist, buttery interior. The flavor of ginger was perfectly balanced and the raisins inside were a nice supplement to the scone. The porridge was really good, I loved the creaminess of it! Both did a nice job of filling me up and setting me up for the day of walking to come. Funny enough, around 3:30pm, I stopped here again to grab a mid-afternoon treat and ordered the chocolate and hazelnut Babka, their soft bun filled with chocolate and toasted hazelnuts. This pastry was crazy tasty! A slightly crispy exterior with a croissant-like inside chocked full of chocolate and those toasted hazelnuts. This was so rich and truly decadent. Brother Hubbard is a gem of a breakfast and pastry spot! I appreciate the relaxing café environment with friendly staff and high-quality food. Brother Hubbard is a solid spot for breakfast and brunch, serving entrees, lighter fare and offers a pastry assortment that will have you pondering about getting takeout. I visited Brother Hubbard on a Sunday, half an hour after it opened and was able to be seated immediately. However, the brunch rush came afterwards and by the time I left, the entire place was filled. It's popular. And yes, it's the same spot Phil Rosenthal ate at. I even saw the owner who was featured on the show here, helping out with clearing tables and so forth. I ordered the traditional Irish breakfast and an iced chai latte. The food was good and actually, not as heavy as I anticipated. It came with an egg, sausage, bacon, beans and a pudding, which I had to look up. It's ground meat with oats and is molded into a patty. It didn't taste bad, so can see why it's served around these parts of the world. And the meal also came with another item I had to look up, colcannon bread, which was a potato bread with kale. And it was my favorite part of the breakfast! Delicious. If you're looking for a breakfast spot in Dublin, then I'm pretty sure you already know about Brother Hubbard, which is popular, all for good reason. The food was tasty, service was friendly and I loved how bright and welcoming the restaurant was. I was satisfied.
