The cemetery is easy to spot, has a plaque at the entrance, free to visit. Not very crowded, on the hill, peaceful site. Capt. Daniel Malcolm, smuggler and supporter of the Sons of Liberty is buried here, also, Robert Newman, known for hanging the lanterns during Paul Revere's midnight ride, Edmund Hartt, builder of the USS Constitution, free African Americans and other historical figures. Another historical site, Copp's Hill dates from 1659 and it was Boston's largest colonial burying ground. Definitely worth the visit, you can stay as long as you want. We spend about 30 minutes in here, lots of nice greenery (we were here late summer). As usual, you get interesting puzzle pieces of history while browsing this site.

I visited the Putnam House and surrounding properties last summer when visiting from California. I…read morebrought my 11 year old nephew and 16 yr old son. The House itself is amazing with detailed set ups of life at that time (1700's). Very authentic and we even has a lesson in the school house where we got to see what the classroom setting was like at that time. They have a farm museum that has many vehicles and tools with displays that tell you how everything was used. They have limited summer hours so call in advance. Very much worth the trip. My kids loved it. (They can now imagine life without cell phones).

It's good for browsing and relaxing outside, but I probably wouldn't eat here or spend more than a few hours. I recommend arriving early so you can park on nearby streets and then heading somewhere good for lunch. But it's definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful village by the sea in Rockport, MA (and main tourist attraction). Fishermen settled on…read morethis peninsula in the 1600's, and it became a fishing village and commercial docking area in the 1700's. In the 1800's during the Industrial Revolution, it supplied a large amount of granite. This peninsula juts out into Rockport Harbor (you can walk all the way out, over the rocks, and take pictures at the end). The street is filled with locally-owned boutique clothing, jewelry, and souvenir shops, restaurants, and photogenic spots (see Motif 1). I love that you can still visualize all the history of Bearskin Neck, see so much beautiful artwork and coastal treasures, and try fresh-caught seafood. Parking is close to impossible on the weekend (as is driving down the street, which IS allowed, but filled with pedestrians); but there is a nearby parking lot that provides a shuttle service to and from here. The area is very dog friendly; they are allowed inside most shops, and there is plenty of water available! Makes for a really fun (and photogenic) day of walking around!!

I suspect anyone reading this has crossed more bridges than you could count in your adventures and most are useful for their purpose but lack an eye-catching design. The design of this bridge really draws your eyes in to admire the well designed architecture while either driving over it or being near it. From fantastic views from nearby hotels during past stays to many trips to TD Garden my wife and I always appreciate when we see this bridge. The best views like I mentioned were at nearby Courtyard by Marriott. You can really capture some great photos of it during day or night! At night time it is illuminated beautifully. It really stands out in the views you see in the while exploring Boston.

"Built a fort out of sheets I finally found you…read moreMy missing puzzle piece I'm complete" (Katy Perry) Overlooking Marblehead Harbor, this coastal fort dates way back to 1644, and was one of the oldest English sites of seaside defenses in North America. It came under American control during the Revolution, was rebuilt in the early 1800's when a battery of big guns were added to defend the harbor from enemy attacks. It served an important defensive role in the War of 1812, transitioned into a town park in 1892, and even returned to military duty during the Spanish American War in 1898. Today, it's a public park and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1975. The park offers you stunning views of the harbor and the hundreds of boats crossing the waters. The Fort Sewall grounds are loaded with historical sights - maps and markers and plaques and remnants of the old fort including underground prison cells are everywhere. Some of those big guns that defended the harbor from enemy attack are still there, others are gone but there are ghostly markers on the stone walkway showing where they once proudly stood. It's a glorious place to walk around, enjoy the scenery and imagine those big guns blasting away to defend the harbor two centuries ago.

This interesting Double Jackknife Drawbridge (technically a double-leaf, rolling-lift through-truss…read morebridge) connects Meridian Street in East Boston with Pearl Street in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Also known as the Meridian Street Bridge, It was constructed in 1954 and named in memory of American Legion Department Commander, Andrew P. McArdle (1896-1950). The bridge was rehabilitated not long ago and appears to be in good condition. Besides the Chelsea Street Bridge, the McArdle Bridge is the only other toll-free option to drive from East Boston and Logan Airport without heading North. Embedded in the walkway of the bridge is a small brass "Coleman Bros." plaque featuring a horsehead logo. I suspect they were the original contractor when the bridge was built. Coleman Bros. was a heavy-steel construction company that is also credited for their work at Boston's Fenway Park in 1934. The deck of the McArdle Bridge, for both cars and pedestrians, is made of steel mesh. For some of us, it brings on a little vertigo, especially if looking down while walking across because you can look straight through to the river below. This is also not a bridge to be crossed while wearing Stiletto heels! Overall, the McArdle Bridge is a tough workhorse that serves as vital link for it's surrounding neighborhoods.

First, I'd like to make everyone aware that this is the most dangerous rotary in the United States…read more‍. I grew up and learned how to drive on this rotary back when there's a gas station where the check cashing place is now. This rotary does not just go in a circle you have Beach Street you have Leon Highway cutting right through the middle you have beach Street cutting through you have a check cashing place on one side a car dealership on another side you have a bank and a shopping plaza on the other side with a busy Dunkin' Donuts 50 feet away. Everyone goes around this circle like crazy there has to be at least 10 different to 15 different on and off Streets and exits off of this circle. If you come from another part of the country that does not have rotaries I suggest you stay away. I'm giving you a fair warning if you have never been on a rotary before do not attempt to go around this one would be better off on the Auto Chevy Chase circle like in European vacation. As for the circle itself in the summertime, even sometimes in the winter, you will see people walking through people actually walk across this rotary it connects highway streets stores entrances and exits every single one more dangerous than the next.. and this is exactly where my father brought me to learn how to drive as soon as I could go around that rotary 10 times he told me I was on my own. if you can drive around Circle and get off entrance and exit off of the circle you can drive anywhere in the world. Revere actually keep it is all landscaped with flowers, etc. in the winter they have a Christmas display with lights. Very nice circle. It holds a deep spot in my heart. This is probably the one thing in Revere that has not changed since the 70s the rest of the city totally different the circle it stayed the same. My advice when you come to Revere, you go to Bell Circle looking in front of you behind you three times I left and three times to the right at the same time because that's how many entrances and exits people will be trying to slip in and sneak by you. Anyways, take it easy if you never been to Bell Circle it will be an experience the circle awaits.
