We were camping at Campland this weekend, and wanted to get a golf cart for my friend who has a sprained ankle that didn't respond well to all the walking. We checked onsite, but the golf carts were $180 for 8 hours, AND had to be returned by 5 pm. Called another place they recommended, and when they asked when I needed it (approximately, NOW), they said I should have booked it several weeks in advance; they were out. REC Rentals to the Rescue! Called them up, and when he asked when I wanted it (now), he said - how's 45 minutes? Now we're talking! They were extremely professional, friendly, accomodating -- a couple college guys who apparently follow the business model: Find a need, fill a need. And, they do it well. Golf cart ran perfectly, was in great shape, and they delivered and picked it up for free (w/in 10 mile radius of PB - just the price of gas beyond that). Our 4-person cart was just $95 for 24 hours, and even got an extra $10 off by checking in on Yelp; gotta love that. I would absolutely use REC Rentals again next time I need a golf cart. I don't know when that will be, but I might just have to find a reason! PS - They also have 6-person carts, but those were all booked up. If you want more selection, it would make sense to reserve in advance. read more

I used Rec Rentals for my wedding in La Jolla, and it was the perfect way to transport our guests from our ceremony site (Cuvier Park) to our reception (La Jolla Woman's Club). Most guests were able to walk to the reception after the ceremony, but having the cart was a nice touch for those who wanted a ride up the hill. Rec Rentals was a life saver for our wedding. Our wedding ceremony and reception were in different areas (about 4 blocks walking) which isn't a lot, but for many of our guests who were older, it would have been a tad too much. Our wedding party also used the carts to get from our hotel to our first look location at our reception venue and then to the ceremony location. We also used the carts to sneak back out and take some wonderful sunset shots with our photographers. The carts themselves were very nice, comfortable and able to hold 5 guests at a time plus the driver. Our drivers were awesome and very dependable, always there when we needed them! So I had some friends visiting from out of town, and they didn't have a way to get around and I wasn't able to lend them my car, and since they were on vacation, they wanted something a little different than a normal rental car to check things out. In SD, you kind of need a car. We priced it out and for the open air experience and the fun of being able to zip around PB/Mission Beach. The cart was fun and had enough space for the belongings we needed to carry. Finding parking was easy because of the cart's size, which can be kind of hard to come by in Mission Beach. I called these guys asking if they did maintenance on carts. It's impossible to find anyone near PB that can fix carts. They do not offer maintenance but they gave my number to a guy that does. I'm not even a customer and they offered great service. Just image the service they would give to paying customers. If you are on vacation in PB I highly recommend renting a cart to get around town. You can ride a cart just about anywhere in PB. Parking is at a premium a cart is a easy solution to that problem. Go through these guys if you are looking for great service. read more

Rec Rentals was amazing. We called a few weeks before our wedding and needed a 6 person cart and Rec Rentals came through. When we got to the venue the cart had been delivered fully charged and was ready to go. After we were done the cart was gone. We never saw the staff or heard anything about the cart, which to me was a sign of a good company. Communication was okay. Delivery and pick up times changed at the last minute causing some challenges for our busy schedule. The cart itself was missing pieces, so it looked a bit sketchy. The steering was the worst experience. I've driven many golf carts and never had any issues. I think the cart needs maintenance work, which is clear from the look of the cart. I probably wouldn't rent from Rec Rents again. But at the same time I wouldn't discourage anyone from renting if it's last minute (as mine was) and this is the only rental place available. read more
