We took the family to the rec room for Subday fun. We played the video games and then rented the Karaoke room for 2 hours. We had so much fun! The song list was extensive and the service was amazing. I visited Lakeland about a year ago and wanted to find something fun to do. Rec Room was the perfect place- we returned twice during our week long stay! To start off, they had just got the loaded card system instead of coins which is so much more convenient. I felt the place was well spaced out so you don't bump elbows with other gamers. The drinks were game themed and fun, not too pricey and we got a spot at the bar to play some fighting games on the big screen- a perk to coming early! They have ping pong in the center which is netted making it easy to grab a run-away ball and not bonk a helpless bystander. Staff was great and very polite even as our daughter was staying close to adult hours. I really appreciate their patient communication about adult-drinking hours because time got away from us while playing. Definitely a place to stop by with chill vibes. read more

The Rec Room is a cool, moderately sized location with old school gaming systems, a bar, and several newer games to enjoy. You must purchase tokens to play any of the games; however, half of the games do not display how many tokens are needed. Additionally, many of the games swallowed our tokens, so we lost track of cost. The bonus is that they returned the tokens with extra to spare. Overall, I would recommend this place for a quick hour or drinks (a Moscow mule was around $6-7), games, and as a social outing for a family or group of friends. There isn't much to do after an hour, except keep drinking. read more

We stopped in the Rec Room during downtowns First Friday event. The bar could do a little more to bring in people from events like these. The space is very cool with semi private tv areas and private game rooms. The ping pong area is really unique and offers a unique playing experience compared to other barcades. There is a good mix of classic and modern games to play while you enjoy a drink or 2. Rex room gets rowdy at night and they don't shy away from it. With two beer pong tables outside it's not the most pandemic friendly but it offers a lot for the bar crowd to enjoy read more

After booking a karaoke room and having a great night with my friends saturday night, we were gathering everyone up to leave. We found a girl friend at the bathroom who needed to be attended to. We skipped a line full of MEN to wait on a WOMANS stall with her. The men in the front were saying rude and disrespectful things to us, but I assured him we were waiting for a woman's stall. Immediately after, a second man skipped the line and stood next to the initial man who then gave him a friendly handshake. I made a comment about the hypocrisy. They continued to make rude and disrespectful comments to me and my friends. I stood up for myself and the girls, and I shoved one of the men (i am in the wrong for that, i acknowledge that). I went to the bathroom and came out to being ambushed to leave (which is fine) however, as i'm walking out I'm trying to explain what they did. I was hushed and silenced. A female brunette "manager" wouldn't listen, after multiple attempts of being hushed and silenced repeatedly, I said "so i could tell you I was s*xually assaulted in the bathroom and you wouldn't care?" she replied saying "NO- get out", THIS is what i have a problem with. A tall ginger/blonde security guard would also not listen to anything I had to say as we were leaving. The men did not get kicked out. The women were silenced. If you're a woman and want the staff, A MANAGER, specifically a FEMALE manager, to at the least listen to you in a time of conflict, God forbid it being assaulted, don't expect to be heard, expect to be silenced. If it was any other establishment, she'd be fired for telling me to my face she did not care if i got assaulted. But since it's a bar, apparently it's okay. read more

Bartender was sweet enough but other the male employees were too wrapped up in a game on the bar tv to notice that one of them left keys in the Big Buck Hunter machine. What a fun place!! Went with 3 friends during the day and it was a nice place to hang out for a few hours. They ask that you wear masks while inside. There's PAC-Man by the front door that's free. You can use your card in the token machine. It automatically cashes you out at $5. Grab your drink and then get some tokens and get your air hockey on!! It only took two tokens. There's also Skeeball, which is two tokens. We spent a good amount challenging each other. Bartenders are nice and there's a full bar. Not a huge place, but it's still a good way to kill time. read more

I personally have never had such multiple shitty experiences in my life and I don't do reviews by any means but this is so unfair and I have never been treated so unfairly. My boyfriend constantly gets kicked out because Blaire accused my boyfriend of coming in the bar with a gun and then the next story that was made up was that he hit a bouncer. We asked for proof and video surveillance. And we never got any. I've asked multiple times to speak to the owner and they always would assure I would get contact with them and I never do. Never have dealt with my boyfriend being racially profiled and kicked out. I would understand if they had proof and would 100% respect that. But until I can talk to a manager my feelings won't change. It just sucks because I have been coming to rec since forever when Riley was working there and always had the best times and no problems. read more

So I just picked up my kids from the rec room and they came crying saying that the one of the owners Wendy yelled at them for not knowing how to play the basketball game and she was also in my kids face and my kids are only 6 but they had their older sister with them and I do not appreciate the way they treat my kids I would recommend not going there very rude. read more

The place is nice sized. Not many games but what they have is cool. Some games can be expensive and cost up to $1 per game. My only problem with this place is drinks are expensive. I've been going to Rec Room since they first opened in October 2020. This is such a fun barcade and a great addition to Lakeland! This bar targets many different crowds, as they're open in the afternoons for a family friendly afternoon, while also having a night crowd of people who enjoy social night life. There are so many games to choose from and the drinks are amazing! All of the staff is very attentive and friendly. They are so classy and interactive- they'll even join you on a game if you ask! They have different themed nights like Mario Kart Monday which I think is so unique for meeting new people who all have something in common. Try beating Matty in any of the Mario games! ;) You can tell that everyone enjoys working there. Nothing but class from the staff! read more

In response to review by Carter below, I was there and witnessed the exchange between Wendy and these children, who were extremely rude and inconsiderate. Wendy asked them nicely to not throw the basketballs from half way across the room because the backboard or machine could break, and they immediately talked back to her. These children were way older than 6--old enough to know how to be respectful to other people and to the premises. read more

Forget this place. I used to swear by this place because of the cool atmosphere and drinks and whatnot, but they screwed me over by charging things I did not order and refused to give me a refund until I threatened to claim fraud on them and call the police. Now I am banned because THEY messed up. Believe me when I tell you, all the people I told have already sworn to go to Molly's, Federal, Swan Brewing, etc. and never again Rec Room until I am no longer banned. And since my school accounts for probably 80% or more of their revenue, they will lose most of their clientele. Good luck Rec Room. #boycottrec read more
