Let's start at the beginning, there was a LOT FULL sign at the entrance, not blocking at all & I saw no attendant there bringing cars in from other lot or anything so I wasn't going to trust that, I slowly pulled in & surprisingly found ONE singular spot open right in front! I wasn't sure if it was a walkway to the front but the line wrapped around the next 3-4 spots so I knew I wouldn't be in any way. I got all my recycling in the first two wired bins I could snag near me, it wasn't until I was in line that I noticed a small sign, not even near the empty cans, that described what materials they wanted placed in specific bins. (There's wired & blue plastic ones) I don't believe I followed what they wanted exactly but they still took my materials! So that's good. I had a broken beaker in my glass & mentioned it to the gentleman doing the weighing & he told me they'd take it I'm fine! I watched as he weighed out my minimal amount of materials & then wrote me out a receipt of sorts. I got to the front, the lady on the right took my clipboard & then said the lady on the left will give me my cash. NOW, I had read Yelp reviews on this place before going & a person said a lady fitting this one's description had jipped her $10 ! Off of a $65 total! Insane! So I made sure to check my money before even turning around to leave, I could tell my amount was $11 & I flipped up the 10 & said politely, "this is only $10, I'm supposed to have $11?" She got flustered & apologized while digging out another dollar for me. I'm glad I read reviews bc I might've walked off & got in my car before realizing, then probably would've been too scared to say something! So that lady being a serial jipper & the state of the parking lot, potholes & no attendant are the reasons for stars knocked off! This place is so far east in Fairfield I might as well just go to VacaRecyling, I enjoyed that place!

I used to go to Delta Scrap in Oakley until they closed and they don't deduct for moisture if you tell them they're empty and you get a receipt that gives you a breakdown of weight of the bins, moisture, material and price. Thank you Pavel for responding but that's what I understood when I inquired about moisture deduction on my first visit when I told the guy they're empty and since I didn't get a receipt, I assumed it was deducted. Delta Scrap used to automatically deduct moisture unless you tell them you've emptied them out and that's what I didn't like because they can clearly see they're empty and should be honest about it. Vaca Recycling seemed to be V Town's preferred recycling center, so, I thought today would be the day to see why. The staff are courteous and stayed busy weighing recyclables and returning the emptied bins to the area for customers to grab as they arrived. It was fast, easy, and painless. I didn't even have to show ID! (Only required on sales over $100). I was given a receipt in no time and I walked a short distance to redeem my cash from the convenient store in the same lot. The parking lot is small. But, not somewhere I couldn't maneuver through. Vaca Recycling is located on E. Monte Vista and Callen Road. It shares a parking lot with a gas station (Pemex? ..I believe it's called) I'll come back again when I have another load of recycles to unload :)

Allowed workers to function under terrible work circumstances and did not do anything until recently. Majority of workers are lazy and rude, giving my older relative the majority of work at the time. Issues with materials coming up short likely due to theft. Daniel is a terrible manager and person. He employed his daughter to a managerial position due to his sway of power. Relative would constantly complain about workers being lazy and rude to them and customers, but did absolutely nothing. Needs to be shut down and potentially sued for negligence and discrimination. Do NOT give this barley legitimate farce of a recycling center any of your business.

He saw that I had my hands full with a crying baby and toddler, he kindly assisted me in unloading and was courteous enough to take the bins up front. They do require you to put your drivers license number, license plate, a signature & your fingerprint in order to get paid out as it is part of the State of California Scrap Law.

You go, give them your recyclables and hope that a big number shows up on the screen. There were about four people in front of me and with each type of material, (various plastics, aluminum, etc.) a new measurement is taken. On the side of each garbage can is a number specific to that container. That's how much the container weighs (they vary), so they can subtract that from the gross weight. Clever. Getting a few dollars back from all the beers and sodas you've consumed is better than getting a kick in the pants. Oh, and they issue checks now instead of cash. Probably safer.

I was told by businesses in Pleasant Hill and Martinez that Recycle It would be faster service compare to going to Concord Recycling Center. When I come to this location I already got my plastic bottles and cans separated which impresses the people that work there. I am in and out within five minutes. I am aware of plastic bottles and cans to be separated which I have seen other people still separating theirs which they take longer to do. I was looking for a recycling center closer to me and found this little gem. Located right next to…read morea gas station, this place operates right out of a container box with one scale, huge sacks to put in the weighted recycles and one man operating this business. I had 5 big sacks of recycles and have to wait for an open parking spot to back up my car because there's no way I'm going to lug them around from the side of the street where I found parking. Anyway, besides the point, I got into an open spot, grabbed empty bins and starts putting in my cans. The guy also then started weighing and emptying them into those large sacks hanging from the side of the container door. Aside from my big loads, the process was actually very quick and I was out of there in no time. I actually got a good amount of money from all my recycles and I can't complain about that. Also, don't expect to get any help unloading your sacks and getting it emptied into the bins because this is a do it yourself place (even the old lady in front of me managed to do it herself). There's no VIP service up in here y'all. This place is literally nestled right next to the gas station store and if you're not familiar with it, you'll miss it. Come here early to avoid wait as they share parking lot with the gas station and there's about at least 4 spots closer to this business. But if you don't mind parking on the streets and lugging your recyclables then you're good. Definitely my new go to place to bring in my recyclables and you can't beat the friendly guy that works here as well.
