The only problem with Record Connection is there is too much to see! That's not a bad thing either. :) I have browsed through "record" stores all over and this has all of them beat, hands down. Massive selection, very good quality and about the only organized 45 collection I have seen for a long time. I live in MD and they're about 2.5 hours away, but it's worth the trip. I have never seen so many 45s in one record store in my life. Unfortunately the pricing starts at about $2 each and goes up. There must be a least 40,000 records in that one room. Why not out a logical price in them like 3 for a buck and you would sell tons. I guess selling just one or two at a time is the owners goal. I have bought great, sleeves records and picture sleeve records for 3 for a dollar or 50 cents each at many other record stores. Just over priced. It's sad. Unfortunately record catalogs are wrong in much pricing. 45s do not have much demand like albums and resale ti a record store is minimal on pricing. Trust me. I sold an entire collection I thought to be valued at over 60,000 to a record store in AZ for only 3500. Biggest mistake ever. Maybe he will lower his prices someday and I will be in there buying a lot for my collection. read more

I stopped by early one day last week and was surprised to find it was open a bit early, so that was nice. This is a treasure trove for a vinyl collector, but you better have a list with you because you could easily lose track of the time just browsing the very carefully categorized bins. I had to pick up the wife, so I was pressed for time on our brief vacation, and the very studied owner of 39 years knew exactly where a copy of the vinyl that I craved could be found! On our next visit from New Rochelle, I will be looking forward to spending much more time exploring those inviting and groovy bins!! read more

I have since popped into Record Connection a few more times over the past few months. I have been going on Sunday's. I find the environment there on Sunday's is pretty chill and relaxed. Although I haven't found much vinyl that's caught my eye, I've scored some fantastic cassette tapes! They've got such a huge selection and the prices are great! I haven't completely immersed myself in every used vinyl room, but when I've got the time to do so I really hope I'd find something as there is a quite a big selection. I will say that the shop overall is quantity overall quality, but I'm sure there's something there worth buying. read more

When I go on vacations I always have to look for the closets record shops to where I'm staying. I found a few stores online to check out but Record Connection got the best reviews so I decided that was the place to go to. I mostly buy metal so that was another reason why I chose this store over the others as from the other reviews it seemed there was a good amount of metal and they were right. There was a good selection of progressive rock/metal as well. I searched through the cds the most as I didn't have too much time left when I got around to the records but the metal stuff that I went through was a good selection. Stuff from Iron Maiden, King Diamond, Helloween etc. and the prices are reasonable as well. Especially on the used cds. Next time I visit PA I will be coming back to this store and heading straight to the Records. Great store and owner was friendly and helpful! read more

I have bought multiple records here which have all been in great shape and the prices are great you really can't beat them! This was once a GREAT record store for used vinyl and I have always made it a priority to stop here when traveling west from Philly to Pittsburgh. Now all that is left is the dregs of their old stock, a pathetically small new arrivals bin, and tons of high priced reissues. The worst part of this store is the staff. They ruin the record store experience. The guy behind the counter with a bad hair metal wig is loud and opinionated and frankly off-putting. I will never set foot in the place again. My advice, head a little further down the road to Tom's Music Trade in Red Lion. read more

Cool place located in Ephrata, it may look small on the outside but as you walk in the store you are stunned by the thousands of albums, cds, and dvds. It gets better with a very organized 45 rpm room with thousands of hidden gems at 5 dollars or less. If your into doo wop,rock and anything in between this is the place to go, the more expensive records are up front and those range up to 50 dollars but they are in very nice conditon with sleeves. read more

Nice guys. Review pertains to Vinyl only: Pros: Good selection of Rock, Country, R&B, other genres much smaller. Prices are mostly fair. Cons: The used inventory does not change much, if at all. Only different items I ever see are if they get new releases. Inventory tends to have multiple (5 or more) copies of albums noone really buys (ie. Julian Lennon - Valotte), so it seems larger of a selection than it really is. Don't expect to find a good copy of record that you want for less than $8. read more

I seem to forget how massive this place is, despite being a customer for over ten years. Shelves and browsers are very organized and well-stocked. I love this record store that every time I go visit my folks, I make sure to stop in here. This store carries tons of formats - CDs, LPs, tapes, VHS, DVD, Laserdisc, SelectaVision, 8-tracks...you get the idea. It's all too easy to spend an afternoon or longer getting lost while you sift through whatever format you're looking in - about 2/3s of the store is nothing but vinyl. They've never had anything priced where I felt like I was getting ripped off (a lot of it is priced to move - lots of $2 LPs, $3-5 used CDs), and the staff is pretty knowledgeable. On the off-chance that there's something you want that they don't have, they'll do their best to order it for you. I've never had a bad experience there, and I always find something new and crazy for my music collection every time I go. read more

I have a friend who lives in Lititz, so every time I go to see him I try my hardest to stop at this store. It's literally loaded to the brim with vinyl. However, it's so cramped in there that, when there are other people looking too, it makes it hard to get around (hence the one-star deduction). That being said, I love this store. The prices are mostly very reasonable, and there are about eight to ten bins full of $2 records that are, for the most part, in VG- to VG+ condition. The selection, even in the $2 bins, is vast and will please you no matter what your musical palate. Be ready to sit on the floor to search through bins, because half of the alphabet is down below. If you don't mind a workout to find some great records, then this is the place for you. read more

Only reason I gave it 4/5 is they're out of space! They've got loads of inventory, mainly vinyl, that overall, is well organized. It's when you get to those bargain bins that it becomes discouraging. The aisles are tight as it is but then the boxes/crates of bargain-priced stuff is placed in the aisles which makes it all but impossible to peruse if someone else is in the aisle. The staff there are friendly and know their stuff. They've got lots of collectible stuff behind the counter but it's priced with that in mind for sure. The standard stuff in the racks is all graded well and priced fairly. I only made it through the Jazz section and browsed the Rock section quickly and that took the better part of 2 hours. It was worth the hour ride from Chester County and I'll definitely head back some time. FYI, they use recycled bags/boxes so if you've got a record tote bring it along. I left there with a box-full-o-goodness. read more

You really don't expect to find a cool record store in Ephrata. I mean, there really isn't much to this town. And if you blink, you may miss THIS place because it's in kind of an old strip mall. But this store is GOOD. I've been there twice, and both times walked out with a couple of boxes. Like other reviewers have said, the place is stuffed. You'll find MOVIE SOUNDTRACKS in the bathroom (I'm not kidding). This makes shopping a bit tough on the back. For example, the rock room finds the racks on two levels. Half the alphabet is at "floor level" so plan to do some stretching if you're tackling the whole store (and prepare to dedicate about 7 hours to the task). But the staff is cool and they'll cut you a deal if you're buying A LOT. Last time I was there, the clerk kept playing hair metal all day. That was annoying after awhile but he was having fun. Prices on new vinyl is about average. Prices on used is okay. I like their grading system. Only sealed records get an "M" grade. And being a picky guy, I only bothered to consider open stuff with an "NM" grade. That helped me keep my "shopping time" in check. My only complaint would be, they should come down in price on some of the "overstock." That's probably why the place is SO packed. The cheapest "NM" record is about 4 dollars. That's why you see 15 copies of BRYAN ADAMS' "Cuts Like A Knife." They should really consider liquidating some of the really common stuff for a buck. Just move it already. Other than that though, RECORD CONNECTION is always a good time. I haven't been there since the summer of '10 so I should probably get back there. read more

I really dig this place. A few years ago a buddy and I were leaving the Green Dragon down the street and stumbled across the store. After stopping in, I knew I'd be taking a trip back from Delaware to spend some time here. I find myself descending on this place every couple of months for a few hours, and am never disappointed with the haul that I walk away with. Do you know how to get to Ephrata? Drive to the middle of nowhere, and hang a right. Not much there, so I was incredibly surprised to find this gem of a record store here. In short, it is fantastic! The store front looks small, but it is quite large inside. They have a great selection of new vinyl, plus the biggest and best organized collection of used vinyl I have seen. I have been a Vinyl Junkie for about 3-4 years so since I was about 18. When I am home in Massachusetts, I have at least 3 different places where I can go to quench my thirst for vinyl. However, I go to school in Elizabethtown College in PA and I am currently in my third year at the college. For two years, the only place to find music was at a typical and boring FYE where they DO NOT sell vinyl. I was not able to buy vinyl at school which is a problem because 90% of my summer job income is probably spent on music. Just a few weeks ago, I found the Record Connection in Ephrata, PA. This place is great and as soon as you step in, it almost like stepping back in time. They have thousands of vinyl to choose from. Everything from jazz and classical to metal and rap including new releases and old used classics. I only have visited twice so far but the prices seem to be very good compared to the commercial stores such as FYE, and if you look hard enough and know what you are looking for, you can find some real gems. Just today I found an imported original Zeppelin 4 album imprinted on red vinyl! There are at least 3 rooms full of vinyl and an entire room just for 45s. Apart from the feeling of being cramped in the store (which isn't exactly a deal breaker), it is a great place to find new and old vinyl and is perfect for any vinyl junkie of any age. If you are a music nerd such as myself, could spend hours in a music store (also like me), and/or just love music in general all together in a comfortable environment, then I highly recommend Record Connection. read more
