I'm a routine game-shop visitor, and I was excited when I moved to a place that had a shop this size! The store is always well stocked with decently priced product, and has a vending machine + snacks avaliable. The staff are fine, but my main issue this place comes more from the regular customers and lack of regulations or expectations around behavior in the store. I've been to several prereleases here and I dont think I'll be back after multiple times men (sometimes with their kids present) Kept making sexist or straight up comments on my body or being female in a gamimg space. There is also a HEAVY issue with body odor here. This is not entirely the staffs fault, but I couldnt find staff members available to talk with about this issue, and was waved away when I did find one due to them being overwhelmed. Increasing staff numbers especially during high demand events would fix this. This is a great store, but I fear it is suffering from success in the numbers. read more

A one stop shop for all your D&D, Warhammer, Magic, and board game supplies. They have an impressive amount of dice, miniatures, cards, and family friendly board games if you're just browsing. You can enter on the left side which is the retail store and if you go to the right by the cashiers they have a whole area set up for games with snacks and drinks. We picked up some D&D Supplies and my husband reminisced about his Magic days with the cashier. Both men at the registers were very nice and asked what games we were into and made recommendations on other mech we might like. Their selection is pretty vast and seems on par price wise with other stores in the area and online. They also had an area you could play test games and we saw people and families of all ages enjoying shopping and testing the games on display. The new store on Wesley Drive is HUGE. It might be a little hard to find but its located on the right corner of the plaza with the Peppermill restaurant, to the side/back of McDonalds. Parking can get a bit nutty and limited on weekends so just keep that in mind. read more

Amazing DnD and other tabletop gaming selections, staff was helpful but not overbearing, prices were very reasonable and even some gems if you are willing to look. Overall I would absolutely recommend this store to a beginner or veteran hobbyist looking for a good experience. read more

I originally gave this store a low rating when it was in harrisburg because an employee was rude to my husband when he wanted to look at high value cards. But since they moved to Mechanicsburg, they installed computers where you can look at the inventory, and the employees are a lot friendlier and more helpful, so i am now able to rate them higher than I originally did. read more

Service is always great, I usually call ahead if I'm looking for something specific. If I'm just browsing, there are endless options for all types of gamers. I am a fan. While many industries celebrate the holidays and special events with the gift of fruit baskets or flowers, my industry chooses to give out games. Sometimes, it is hard to keep up with the newest trends, but there is excellent variety in the merchandise. Sure, I could look them up online and ship them direct, but the staff can tell me about the games in more detail and there are tournaments and open play where I can watch or participate in game play before I buy. Captain Carl loves the location, which is up the sidewalk from a Big Lots, a cigar store, and a beer distributor meaning that if we're in the area, he can stock up on all his weekend needs in one walk around the strip mall. read more

It's horrible to have a fiancee that knows how to game when you do not, that being said. She has been really bugging me to get a set of Magic The Gathering cards so we can play together. I'm more of a computer gamer myself but if it makes her happy I suppose I can oblige. So she spends some time calling around to various places that sell starter and booster packs and finds this place. After traveling to their old location and discovering they moved and corrected our error we were standing in front of a few guys talking MTG. I explained I had zero experience with it and they took the extra time informing me of the different color combos that can be chosen and the ups and downs of each. Eventually we settled on buying 2 starter packs and they even threw in for free 4 extra decks to help get us moving in the right direction. In terms of prices this place had the cheapest starter pack price I found 12.95 as I recall (20 dollars at Wal-Mart, 15 at Comix Connection), sold. After making our purchase we continued talking game semantics and then they decided it would be easier if we actually witnessed a game in progress, so they went to their vehicles and grabbed their stuff and then took the time to play and explain while they were playing exactly what they were doing. Keeping in mind of course I would not be retaining most of this information, they still tried making sure they were doing what they could to help a newbie understand a game he's never touched. Armed with a new game and new knowledge we went home and I preceded to get my a** handed to me in a bunch of games. The next day while my fiancee was having her wedding dress hemmed I decided to go back to the store to pickup a booster pack. A different set of workers were there making leather armor for the upcoming game night they were having, I explained my situation and made my purchase, after walking out the door, one of the employees shouted to me that if I had a few extra minutes he may be able to help me out. Reaching under a table he presented me with a few thousand MTG cards and said I could go through them and find 10 that will help me out and they would be on the house. Fantastic, I actually did find stuff that I could use, added them to my deck and am now armed to lose a little more gracefully now. To Sum Up, I've been here twice with a combined total of 3 hours worth of my life, they have friendly, patient, knowledgeable staff, decent prices on games, miniatures, figurines, paints, and other gaming accessories. And every now and then, you may end up getting freebies with your purchases. Can't beat that. read more

Are you a nerd? It's ok, you can admit it, we are all friends here. Anyway, if you ARE a nerd, you probably already know about the Guild. However, some of you may not be nerds, BUT you have one in your life. Chances are he/she rattles on about a lot of stuff that baffles you... d20? 40K??, FFG??, 3.5??, Skaven, Elves, White Dwarf, Magic... seriously, it's like we speak a different language than you do. The Guild is a great place to help out when you need a gift for the nerd in your life. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and can point you in the right direction if you need ideas or help with a purchase. They stock all the major stuff: Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, WarMachine, D&D, Magic the Gathering, Fantasy Flight Games, Flames of War, Reaper Miniatures, plus painting and modeling supplies. If it's not stocked most things are available as special orders; they've also got a pretty good selection of older/out of print gaming items. They don't stock too many traditional board games (Monopoly, Clue, chess sets, poker chips/cards), and they don't have any video games... but if you need something for your special nerd, this is the place to go. read more

The Adventurer's Guild is Awesome! You can't argue with a small business, in a speciality genre, in this economy, that has lasted so long. The Staff are great and can teach you or direct you someone who plays just about everything you've ever heard of and tons you haven't. They are also great at helping non-geek friends/family to make selections for the geeks in their lives. Don't forget to make out your Christmas or Birthday WishList all you geek types so your friends/family can have a super easy time shopping for you there. If you aren't a regular and you feel weird, hang out more, become a regular! You are bound to meet someone who shares your gaming interest. Heck it's worth it just for the stories you'll hear. If you have the privelage of meeting the owner one Rich Ditzler be sure to tell him his "guild monkies" have been chatting him on the internet. "The Adventurer's Guild" Hmm...can I join it and go on adventures with other members? :D Who's to know until you go in and check it out. haha So I did. The Adventurer's Guild is a hobby gaming store, ala the Games Workshops in various malls. It's a small dark hard-to-see little shop on the side of the Subway on Derry Street. I went in and right away I realized what it was. There are books and guides on the left when you walk in, case counters and shelves on the right side of the store which holds all these little figures, and tables in the left and center of the store. I didn't tool around much, just popped in to see the store. I was welcomed by the folks there, and it looks like they had a large supply of items. If you're into adventure/fantasy war gaming where you play your teams of figures against your friends' teams of figures, this is a place you'll want to check out. read more

Great store. I do board games. Not comic books nor do I paint miniatures. Therefore, I love this store for me. (No offense to comic books or miniatures). I've been to a couple other stores, some bigger, some smaller, but this place has the BEST selection and the staff has always been very friendly and helpful, IF I needed help. Great space in the back, a selection of used and clearance games as well... which you don't see a lot of places. Yes, you can find games cheaper online, but please patronage stores like this when you can. They provide a community, not just games. I'm new to this hobby, finding only in my early 40s. Just saw the 7/11/15 review by Justin S that the Adventurer's Guild was closed and I'm happy to say that this is 100% NOT TRUE. The store was relocated out of the old location several years ago, but is now located just down the same plaza beside Hancock Fabrics in a much bigger space. Cosmic Comics is just moving into the space they vacated (also from another location in the same plaza), and the Adventurer's Guild is now bigger and better than ever. read more

I have been coming to this place since it used to be on derry st. Back then the owner was different and there was a humble and friendly atmosphere. I can't say the same for it anymore. I play dungeons and dragons, magic the gathering, and dabbled in warhammer. Some of the time I call on the phone and people are just plain rude. I started drafting magic there because the skill level is good. There are some guys who have made it pretty far. I wont' say everyone in there is unpleasant, but there is a lot of elitist snobbery going on. It's VERY annoying. I go to play games to make friends and have a good time. Not try to be accepted in some stupid clique. I hated high school. But sometimes going here makes me feel like i'm there again. I tried to give it a chance, but really if you are a stranger they will make you feel like one. Just like at the end of the night when I won my packs from a friday night magic and I went to the back room to open them as to not gloat in front of the whole store. I exclaimed "Thundermaw Hellkite!" in excitement from the singular m13 pack i opened and the other two guys gave me a horribly disgruntled look and said "so what?". Seriously? Don't ruin my happiness. I opened a playable mythic. Just a bunch of jealous chumps. Seriously just go to tap n attack for a friendly environment and a more spacious store. Growing, great place to find your niche in the gaming world and a fun environment. It's about the love of games and a way to meet other gamers in your local community. It has its bumpy parts but are they stopping me from having fun, no, duh. It's a game store and they have to compete with the Internet for all of your gaming needs. So if they don't have that one game you are looking for, if is available to be had Jason the owner would be more than happy to get it for you. They focus on Magic the Gathering, War Hammer, board games. There are holes in the collection but if you need it the they can get it! I only gave a four star rating for it is not a complete store idea it is evolving and I want to help push the owners to expand and get bigger.
