He was diagnosed with both vascular dementia and Alzheimer's in 2015, and eventually he needed more care than I could provide for him at home. They kept him clean and dry and well taken care of. Everything is done on a schedule here, and it's a good thing because the residents all know when meals & snack times are. They get changed on a schedule (and sometimes someone needs an extra change) and they keep a list of the residents for each changing time so no one gets missed. The facility smells clean and looks clean all the time. They have a dining room with fresh cooked meals for every meal, no prepackaged or microwave stuff. They have doctors, nurses, podiatrists, physical therapists, and hair dressers etc all come in, so the stress of taking him for appointments was gone. I didn't have to bring anything except for clothes and toiletries, they washed and/or provided everything else. The main "living room" on the first floor is used during the day for activities, and it has big windows and comfortable chairs for visiting in. Or you can visit on the covered back patio that has ceiling fans so it doesn't get too hot. The building has a backup generator, hurricane windows and is a hurricane shelter. I signed a paper that said he could stay there during hurricanes, which gave me peace of mind too. They have a fire sprinkler system in the whole building and fire extinguishers are easily seen on every wall. They are set up for 45 residents, and each attendant/caregiver has 4-5 residents to take care during the day, so everyone has help. Everyone knew my husband's name, which was a big deal to me. I wanted him to be treated as a person until the end, and he was. The monthly price was all-inclusive, so no added surprises. They billed medicare for his meds and doctor visits, so I didn't even have to do that. All I did was visit him, bring snacks, and sit and talk with him. Having him live at Mi Casa was a great decision!

Mike and Rachel are the owners, they are very involved and present. The staff is incredibly kind, gentle and truly loving to the residents. I would not hesitate to put my own parents here! The Sterling Aventura is a top-quality facility with a caring, dedicated, and professional staff…read more The property is modern, clean, pleasant, and bright. The lobby actually feels like a nice hotel. It has a wide variety of common areas, including an outdoor courtyard, an entire floor for resident activities, a movie room (theatre) and new apartments for the residents. There is an activities schedule with events from morning until night, 7 days a week. I met with Mark Monaghan, Director of Sales and Marketing. Ever since my first moment with Mark on the initial tour and meeting, I felt comfortable and encouraged. Mark is a true professional with passion and integrity. He guided our family every step of the way through multiple meetings, assessments, and laid out a solid plan for the transition of my mother to an ALF. He is a true leader, and a genuine person who shows how much he cares about families, Things got even better when Mark introduced me to the staff he works directly with. Flavie, the Assistant Director of Nursing assessed my mom, and guided us medically through the transition. Flavie is also genuine and passionate about caring for the residents and communications with the family. Karen, who is the move in coordinator and Mark's assistant was a huge help to us in setting up the apartment and preparing us for move in day. On the actual move in day, she was with my mom and I from start to end. She was great at making our transition smooth, and even gave me her cell phone number, which we communicated on regularly, both pre and post move in day. Daniel, the Activities Director took things to another level on day 1 and forward. He interviewed my mom to know her personality, initiated getting her involved in activities right away, introduced her to residents she is now becoming friends with, and contacts me about her progress. Marc-line is one of the main servers in the dining room. I personally spent over 25 years in Foodservice and Management and have met very few wait staff as pleasant and friendly as her. It was apparent from the very first night when I joined mom for dinner, that Marc-line absolutely loves her position and working with the residents to give great service and enhance the dining experience. Dimitry works at the front desk, and he is another person from The Sterling that stands out for being excellent. He is the first person a resident or guest encounters upon entering the property. He is kind, caring, and professional in all his communications, and made us feel welcome. Conclusion: The Staff at The Sterling are high level professionals who really care about their positions and their relationships with the residents. I am happy my family chose The Sterling for this next chapter of my mother's life.

Back then as a medication technician at night I was made responsible for a whole building without an RN on site, that was out of my scope of work for me to take it on. I was told the RNs constantly quit hence we were stuck. Today 11/8 @ 10:15 am when shopping at Costco, I run into Daniel, he verbally assaulted me with offensive antisemitic remark (evil Jew) for the review I put on him, insulted my diseased mother and more. We all are entitled to our reviews and I personal experience. Working there under Daniel team was a nightmare. Many said it but no one came forward, felt bullied to tell on my very nice co workers and I was not going to ever do that. I did quit and tried to escalated that with HR and the director of nursing, in my personal observation they couldn't care less. In the past my con workers warned me that escalating this was going to be a team of 3 and never anything was going to change . For the records we were so short staffed that in any given night 911 had to be called for constant falls. I don't know if they changed that. It is a shame to the elders they are supposed to look after but with all fairness to my co workers who were hard working people, how much one CNA can take on????
