I am finding different options to help my mom with memory care. I called Carole and made an appointment for a tour. I told her about a bougie facility near our home and she confidently told me that yes, it was bougie, but the care they give is award winning. I'm happy that Carole was honest about what smoke and mirrors could produce, because I probably would not have continued on with the tour. No, it doesn't have a 5 star look. When Carole was moving around the facility with me, you could see the love and dedication between the people who work there and the residents. Picking a place to send a loved one to live out their final years is difficult. Don't look at the superficial. Look at the residents and employees. Several years ago, I moved my Mom into The peninsula assisted living in Hollywood Florida. It was a very beautiful place at the time wonderful people and just always always spotless and clean. A year later, I moved my wife to the peninsula who suffers from Alzheimer's. It was still a very clean facility a very professional facility. They wanted to make sure the surroundings were very good surroundings and like they had very high standards well over the last year to 6 months pretty much all of those standards have gone down the toilet over the past especially six months. I have never seen such a decline in a facility as what is happening at the Peninsula Assisted Living in Hollywood Florida. the cleanliness is beyond unacceptable. I have seen where a man urinated in a hallway in three days later It was still in the hallway. someone defecated in the elevator andfour or five hours later, there was still human waste in the elevator. Carpets that have stains, foul odors they don't get cleaned for months at a time andmanagement there has become extremely lazy and overseeing the cleanliness of the facility over the past couple of months. There have been numerous family members that have moved their loved ones out of the facility including myself. I have moved my mother and my wife out of The peninsula Assisted Living. I'm posting pictures with this review. one tenant had to go to the hospital and I spoke to her family member and they didn't do the tenants laundry for two weeks. They left soiled laundry in a room for two weeks so you can imagine the smell and how unsanitary that was the cleaners in the housekeeping the building could care less anymore again this all reflects the management the director of the building. They have released people of their positions there that were excellent excellent people. There's been many people moved out of the building due to the conditions of the building. I have filed a complaint with the state One of the last reasons I decided to move out was I already paid a fairly high rent at the facility because I have two people living there and then I got a letter in November that they were raising my rent. how do you raise the rent when the conditions of the building are so deteriorating not even to mention they have a cockroach problem? residents have shared with me they have seen cockroaches on the walls of the dining room, cockroaches walking across the dining room tables in the dining room. someone should come in from the state and literally fine this place or penalise this place or put them under a moratorium because the conditions there are horrific and even the clientele and the residence they are allowing to move in should be unacceptable. People sit in the lobby dirty one residence she baths maybe once a month which should be completely unacceptable residents sit in the lobby with torn shoes several of the women in the residence walk around the lobby with no bras and dirty clothes. It used to be a very wonderful Assisted Living but again Management has just allowed this place to deteriorate to an absolutely horrific facility unsanitary and unacceptable and I hope the state of Florida will come in and do something about this facility because it's just unacceptable. They've taken a person who needs four people to get her out of the bed This is all Falls on the director of the facility they don't even have enough seating outside for people to sit on. They even have benches outside to sit on that are broken. They won't even get them repaired so if a resident where to go outside and sit on a bench there's a possibility the bench will break and the resident could hurt themselves, but they don't do anything about it. This is unacceptable. That's a possibility of a resident getting hurt. They should be liable for this. There's other family members that also would agree with me. They have a nurse there. My wife has Alzheimer's and she's supposed to get medicine at a certain time. This nurse continuously gives my wife her medicine late. I addressed it with this nurse one evening and her words to me. She will give my wife her medicine when she decides to give it to her and I told this nurse I didn't know that you became the doctor. I thought you were the nurse. I didn't know someone made you my wife's DR and on numerous occasions this Nurse has done the same thing one Family called the police on this Nurse because she was not giving their father the medicine and they called the police department. You tell me why should this nurse still be employed there she should've been fired but no the Director did not fire her. Whatever you do. Do not put your family member at The peninsula Assisted Living in Hollywood. it is not safe. It is not sanitary. It is not a good place anymore. It used to be a wonderful facility. Trust me. I've had family members there for three years. I visited every day. Do not put your loved one here. read more

Great food, excellent location perfect place for geriatrics ..staff could use current CEUs

From the moment I spoke with Jonathan I knew the Peninsula was different. There is a feeling of warmth, connection and honest interest in each person there. I was impressed with how everyone from the nurses, receptionists, dining room staff and facilities staff knew the residents names. And the residents knew their names. You can feel the active energy when you walk in. People were engaged, talking to each other, taking walks outside and participating in the activities. I wasn't sure what my sister's needs would be so I looked at both memory care and assisted living. Wow, what a difference. In memory care there were 8 people around a table with someone playing bingo. There were others at tables talking with the aides. Nowhere did I see an aid on their phone, they were all interacting with the residents. My sister is so happy in the assisted living. Her room is spacious and conveniently located. Another big surprise was how good the food is. Seriously, I've had a few meals there and they were delicious. My sister who loves to bake and cook is delighted for now having three meals she doesn't need to prepare. I am relieved to know my sister is in good hands. Even though it may be a temporary stay for her while she recovers she now sees the possibilities of a different way of living. read more

i was impressed by the cleanliness and brightness of this facility. The staff Was very friendly and I witnessed the different activities that went on that day. There where ladies at a common area watching afternoon TV, one lady working With occupational therapy, one lady driving her tricycle through the halls, a very nice gentleman that preferred to stay in his room but was kind enough to let us see his room. I just had a great first impression. Carole the sales Director that gave us a Tour was knowledgeable, empathetic and honest. Unfortunately my Mother was admitted to Hospice care so she was unable to experience the facility, but this was our first choice. read more

Don't let the home baked apple pie fool you. Nurse Ratchet over medicated my mother to the point she could not walk or talk. A month later she fell. The second month she had a black eye. The third month she stopped eating and had a stage four bed sore the size of an orange. You could see bone. The fourth month, my poor mother died in hospice. Placing a loved on in the care of others is a difficult decision. But the Peninsula proved to be an exceptional destination for my father. I visited many different destinations before deciding on The Peninsula. There are not enough positive words to describe the care my father received at The Peninsula -- and his situation proved to be challenging as he suffers from dementia. From the marketing team that showed me the facility, to the intake and medical management team who oversaw his medical needs, to the amazing rehab team that kept him active, to the business office who helped keep the insurance paperwork in check, to the food prep and service team -- every aspect of his care was first rate. I want to thank everyone at The Peninsula for their efforts and good cheer in keeping my Dad's spirits up during this challenging transition for him. read more

That place is disgusting. The building is an old hospital with a little paint added. The main outdoor area for the residents was full of balled up paper towels. The theater is in the process of being "remodeled". Apparently it takes weeks to paint something over. The entire place had an overwhelming smell of urine. They have 4 to 5 caregivers for 38-44 residents; which is ridiculously low. The memory care unit is dark and reminds me of an episode of the walking dead. I felt really bad for the residents. My sister spoke to the director of sales and marketing Robert Levy. He was rude. The way he answered her questions was harsh, and I felt as if he insulted her intelligence. Dementia is a new concept to our family, and it is a very confusing and sad illness. The ALF employees should be willing to answer all of the family's questions with kindness. We love our father and we refused have him spend the rest of his life in those conditions. If they can't answer simple questions, what will happen when we're asking about our father's health? read more

My experience has been just like Ellie G's. Management is completely unresponsive, uncommunicative, and often rude. Meridian Sr Living (the owners) make it impossible to get hold of them, there is zero accountability. The facility itself is nice, the rooms are fine, the food is decent, but anything that requires a hand from management God help you. They say they provide transportation but it's down to one day a week, for only a couple hours. They say they provide activities but there have been none during Covid. No religious services, no mental health checkins, no doctor visits - you have to arrange everything yourself. read more

As a first responder/paramedic for 25 years I have responded to hundreds of assisted living facilities in the area. Well, as fate would have it, my elderly mother would need the services of an ALF. After much research we decided on the peninsula and it was a home run. From the executive staff to the maintenance staff they were excellent. They have tons of activities and truly engage the residents. The facility is clean, safe and caring. They provide housekeeping, laundry, medication compliance, three meals a day to name a few. Unfortunately my mother recently passed away and we are now making arrangements for my aging father to move in to the peninsula community. No facility is perfect but I give this facility 5 stars. read more

The Peninsula was my Mom's home for almost five years. She arrived a fairly independent person who over time needed more and more assistance until she became bed bound. I can't say enough good things about the Peninsula! The dining staff knew food she liked including her favorite desserts. The nursing staff was always kind and extremely patient helping my Mom and communicating concerns with me. The people who were working on the floor from housekeeping to the people who fixed things to the CNAs were always willing to assist in whatever way they could. During the last several months of my Mom's life I saw staff not assigned to her stop into her room to say hello, make her smile, use nicknames they created for her and tell me what my Mom's favorite foods to eat or clothing to wear were, etc. They really took time to know her over the years and recognized family members so they could speak to her about us. I was a frequent visitor and got to know so many staff members. During my endless visits as my Mom's life was coming to an end, many of the workers/administrators would ask me not only how my Mom was, but also how I was and offer kind words or advice to get through the journey my Mom was on. When my Mom passed, the staff was there, hugging me, crying with me, helping me. Our family's experience at The Peninsula could not have been better!! read more

I have been to MANY Assisted Living Facilities in South Florida and I can honestly say that I have NEVER encountered staff that is as BLATANTLY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL as the staff at The Peninsula. Starting with my interactions on the phone with the morning/afternoon receptionist (and fyi, she was no better in person when I arrived at facility,) all the way up to the Director of Nursing, Alexa, who was the worst of them all. In addition to being rude, they do NOT return phone calls, and lie and say they did not receive your message when you inquire. Even a few of the nurses I encountered in just my few visits were seemingly uncaring, and were just BEYOND cold and RUDE. Decided to go above the DON Alexa and left a message for Susan Hernandez yesterday so we'll see if SHE knows better how to return a call and show concern for her residents.... read more

Do NOT be fooled by the lobby or smoke and mirrors presented initially. The management and care here is deplorable. My sister in law was here for two years, they lied about getting her on Medicaid and cleaned out her trust fund, then EVICTED her. She is a 56 year old mentally ill woman who could not care for herself, which is why she paid over $2000 per month. When we came to move her with no idea where to take her as we are 2000 miles away, her room was disgusting, there was SKIN all over the floor, we did not dare even look in the bathroom. My sister in law was even worse, she had not showered in months, or longer, she had sores all over, skin falling off her legs, her hair was a nest of god knows what, it was horrible. To top it off she lost close to 100 pounds, turns out she couldn't pay the $5 room service fee so to have food delivered and they BANNED her from the dining room because she hadn't showered. I'm not sure this was legal, definitely not moral, especially since THEY drained her trust fund. All they care about here was money, management was rude and belittling when we came to get her out, if you care about your family member, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE! read more

At first this establishment seemed like a good place for our mom. The staff seemed reasonably capable and seemed to care about providing good service. As time went on, however, and many of the staff turned over, I became increasingly appalled at the practically lethal combination of apathy and incompetence displayed by the staff and management. As my mother's health deteriorated and she needed them most, they were at their worst. Everything from medication management to bathing and feeding was routinely botched. And, every time we raised these issues to management, they were met with total indifference! It was gut-wrenching to see mom in tears as she begged us to move her from this facility. Unfortunately, her health had declined to the point that her doctors strongly advised us against moving her. In hindsight, I wish we had gone ahead and done it anyway. At least her last days would have been pleasant. On the very night that she passed away, she called me in tears yet again over a screw up by the staff. If you love your parent, do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. I wouldn't even board my pet there!! Just remember, you've been warned!!! read more
