** UPDATED 3/18/25 ** I had been seeing Ashley McNair at Banyan tree up until about 6 months ago…read more I've spent over $10k in 3 years here getting therapy. Over the last several sessions I had I felt a very unwelcoming demeanor from Ashley. Calls started with awkward silence while she was shuffling through papers in the background, no smile, very much an "I don't want to be here" attitude. On my last scheduled session on 9/4/24 I was logged in at 4:28 and waiting in the lobby. I called the office at 4:45 to inquire and was told I would get a call back. At 4:50 I received an email from Ashley stating that I did not show to the appointment and per policy I would still be charged the full amount. Historically the once or twice this situation has happened, she would have called me to check in however this time was different for whatever reason. I challenged this and ultimately I was not charged for that visit and was told she would need to speak to the Director before I could make another appointment.. but still if you knew I was still within the 1 hour time window that you intended on still charing me for and you knew I was trying to reach out why would you not call to use what was left of the session that I was being forced to pay for? The director left me a voicemail a few days later basically saying there was no issue and that I could make another appointment. I was waiting in the lobby and called the front desk.. there was nothing more I could have done. To this day there has been ZERO follow-up by Ashley or anyone at Banyan tree to see how I am doing or if I still needed therapy. This is very unethical behavior especially from a client who's paid you over $10k. At one point Ashley left banyan tree for a year and I asked on my last session for a referral and also via email. Both times it was never addressed, I was left without a therapist for over a year until Ashley returned. I still may file a compliant with the state licensing board over this. There have been many times where I carried a balance due to financial issues but ultimately all invoices were paid. I've always paid $130+ per session for a therapist that does not have her own license or very many years of experience. It's very disappointing to be in this position of needing therapy but feeling as though your therapist has given up on you or does not want to see you anymore. * 3/18/25 UPDATE * -- I received a phone call today from Kristi Gilleland, Director and Supervisor for Ashley McNair, my therapist in regards to this review. Despite me having specific dates listed in this review Kristi had no notes of the attempted therapy session on 9/4/24 nor the voicemail she left me on 9/6/24. I offered to forward a copy of the voicemail and email exchange and was told that was not necessary that she believed me. She went on to tell me that this review was "inflammatory" and a "Defamation of Character" to Ashley and to let me know that I would never be able to continue therapy with Ashley again and to question why I waited 6 months to write my review. I waited 6 months to let things settle down in my mind in order to write a level headed review and to give Ashley or someone at the Banyan Tree to reach out to see how I was doing as any therapist has an obligation to do, which ultimately never happened. I was also told this review somehow violates confidentiality because it includes my therapist's name and my name which doesn't make sense. Kristi did mention that they previously discovered an issue in the SimplePractice system that ultimately led to my missed session due to a systematic issue. She provided no explanation as to why Ashley had not called me during the hour they attempted to bill me for instead of emailing back and forth which would have avoided this situation completely. In the end I was asked to consider deleting and/or rewording this review. The more I had time to process what was said after the call today the more upset I was, after already feeling as though my therapist gave up on me, which is the worst thing a client could feel.
