I think that the restaurant is aptly named considering the place's atmosphere and food. Their interior, especially the ceiling with its warm hues, casts a glow on the surroundings that helps with the idea that you're there to...well, recover.
Their food can only be described as Filipino comfort food, and they're such great endings to a stressful week. They offer rice bowls, sandwiches, and desserts which are all sure to pick up your day.
For my very first visit, I ordered their Amadobo and Sagulaman. The Amadobo, which is just classic pork adobo with fried egg on rice, took a little while to be brought out but once it was on the table in front of me, I noticed two things: one, the dish looked really simple and two, it smelled really good. The smell wafted over my face and I couldn't help but to hastily grab my spoon and fork so that I could start digging in. I learned very quickly that despite its simple appearance, the Amadobo is very palatable. They didn't overdo the saltiness which is what other restaurants are wont to do when it comes to rice toppings like these, and that earned them points.
Once I neared the end of my meal, the compulsion to just tip the bowl and scrape it clean caught me and, honestly, I didn't fight it at all. After that, I was already full. I had only ordered their half-serving of Amadobo, so I can't imagine just how much the full serving has!
Wait! Their Sagulaman! Man, I thought it was a drink! So I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that it was in fact a dessert bowl. It had sago, gulaman, crushed ice, and gata. So, it's like the simple version of a halo-halo. Even if I was already bursting at the seams, I couldn't stop eating this dessert because it's such a great shield against the heat of the outside world.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience dining in Recovery Food. Now, I know where to go when I want delicious and fulfilling comfort food. read more
