HORRIBLE. I went for tennis elbow treatment. I went through my insurance covered sessions (albeit with a hefty copay) and was feeling good. They told me that I needed more sessions, so I paid out of pocket, and after 3 sessions I was in HORRENDOUS pain. I had to go to acupuncture to get rid of the pain. THEY ARE ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY. DO NOT GO THERE. RUN, RUN, RUN AWAY!!!!! read more

eager service to book appts @ front desk Competent Physical Therapist. Problem is they aggressively overbill. I had a 25 min appt and my ins co was billed for 4 diff svcs for $375. $150 for exam which was maybe 2 -3 min. $75 for exercise therapy $75 for nerve training that didn't happen $75 for activity therapy which is duplicate charge. I came away with a total of maybe 4 stretches to do. My wife also went there for brief period. They charged her $75/session for ins co-payment. After 10 sessions she found out from her ins co. co-payment should have been $15. $600 overcharge in first 10 sessions. She is also at another PT provider. She did get the refund. read more

After reading the reviews which are not current, I feel I must chime in. I have been coming here for PT for a broken hip since March 2025. My experience has been nothing but stellar. The PTs I used are fantastic knowledgeable and effective. The front desk, in particular Antiqua, is delightful, engaging and very competent. The physical space is clean and well equipped. I would highly recommend "Recovery " to anyone in need of quality physical therapy! I look forward to each session and have seen major improvement in my strength and mobility. read more

After working in a job that had me walking around the city for 5+ hours each day, wearing a heavy bag, i developed a level of soreness and pain that was impossible to ignore. I didn't want surgery, so i decided to start with PT, and i'm really glad i did--- while I have had PT a few times before, really felt like RPT did a great job. They spent more time with me than other places and everyone in the office was nice. It's also convenient that their facility is attached to a NY Sports Club Within just a few months with regular sessions, the pain and swelling were gone, the staff gave my at-home exercises to make sure my knee strength was up to the daily tasks, and they recommended the best ice packs. Recovery Physical Therapy is a great place to get rehab. They offer one on one care which is rare these days in the world of insurance and places moving patients along. While suffering from a hip and back issue Carlo and Liz were always supportive helping me along. They also help get you back to the gym. You don't have to worry about being shoved off to an aide here. Liz is a great listener and very observant in her assessments making the care very individualized helping with success. Carlo helps you stay positive and has great hands on skills that helped my back when I was barley able to sit for more then 20 minutes comfortably. read more

I've had a great experience working with RPT. My therapist was the amazing Alyssa Milazzo, who definitely knows her stuff - and from what I've overheard while lying on the table, it sounds like the other therapists do as well. It's a friendly place, both greeters at the front desk (Linda and Michael) are really sweet, and there's a nice vibe overall. The newly renovated space they recently moved into (on W. 79th St.) is infinitely nicer than the crowded little corner they used to be crammed into on top of the gym on 80th St. They've got various sorts of machines for different therapy techniques. Alyssa used various techniques on me to get my wayward hip under control, and it's worked - she treated the pain and soreness while at the same time helping me build the strength I need to prevent re-injury. Also here's some bonus advice for anyone who's starting PT: If your therapist gives you exercises to do on your own as homework, do them! :-) read more

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS PHYSICAL THERAPY COMPANY. THE MANAGER who runs this location is incredible. Shes dedicated and a very good therapist The receptionist was sweet and pleasant. Thats where it stops. The staff turnover is awful. I went to this office to recover from a spinal fusion operation. My first physical therapist at this location was less than mediocre and didn't seem to even like being a PT. I switched to the manager . 1)Despite having multiple locations in Manhattan, the company is run extremely poorly and when the manager was on maternity leave, there was nobody available to treat me and or several PTs quit regularly creating a rather stressful situation; the opposite of what we need. . 2)if you tried to go to one of their other locations; they somehow made it difficult and made it clear to me that it was like going to a totally different physical therapy company; they also (several RPT locations that I called) wanted me to stay with their location despite the inconvenience? 3)They were very poor with dealing with insurance companies ; they were actually untrained and it many ways "greedy". WITH NO FAULT, YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO EVER PESTER THE PATIENT WITH ANY MATTERS RE: INSURANCE YET AFTER 2 YEARS AS A PATIENT; AFTER THE INSURANCE CUT ME OFF; THAT OFFICE HARASSED ME. I came here with an issue with my patellar tendon and knee and honestly had no idea how to rehab any injury since I've never had anything like it in the past. The staff was great giving me a lot of attention and encouragement for the exercises and also gave me detailed instructions for what to do at home in between sessions. After about 3 months I was back to myself and I still use some of the exercises they showed me for preventative measures. Went to RCP for torn rotator cuff. Was very skeptical that therapy would help. Happily, I was proven wrong. Liz is an excellent therapist, very knowledgeable, assigned me a wide array of exercises for homework, helped me improve posture, etc. Office is a bit tight/chaotic, but I'd attribute that to satisfied patients. Very helpful to have access to NYSC equipment. Friendly, efficient front desk as well. read more

Following cervical spine surgery early this year, my neurologist recommended a handful of approved facilities. Recovery Physical Therapy's West 79th Street location is closest to where I live in Inwood. I picked them because of their website description of their approach to therapy, and particularly the high level of educational achievements of the therapists. Linda L., the front-desk intake coordinator, is a very pleasant and efficient multi-tasker. We communicate easily via email as well, and Linda creates monthly schedules for me which I can receive by email or printout in person. My primary therapists are Tanya and Alyssa; however, I have sometimes worked with Tegin and Carlos. RPT therapists are knowledgeable, very patient, and explain technical/medical terms in layperson language. The therapists always ask how I'm feeling before starting the session, so if all is well, or if I have any type of tightness or pain, my answers will dictate the direction of the session. I'm a bit chatty, and everyone I have worked with easily engages in conversation as I am exercising, and when I need to focus I'll stop chatting and hone in. The therapists are safety conscious every moment of the session, and stay near throughout the workout. The Upper West Side location is brand new, painted in soothing tones, with nice artwork on the walls, comfortable workout tables that are incline-adjustable, hypo-allergenic pillows, and every type of band, free-weight, and equipment required to get a full, intense workout. I also love that there is a long wall mirror and ballet bar! I have limitations, and the therapists are careful with me at all times. My neurologist insists that I continue working with the Recovery Physical Therapy team, as he says he sees a noticeable strength improvement in all areas! The whole point is for the health and strength of clients to improve through physical therapy. The RPT team is supremely committed to delivering high-quality patient care, as evidenced by all they do from the moment a person walks in the door. Jeremy the therapist I was assigned was attentive, competent and responsive. He got good results. It's a very small facility with tables packed together and no frills. I found one reception person to be abrupt, unresponsive and rude, unpleasant to deal with. The other reception person tried hard to be personable. Good outcomes, not so pleasant doing business with them. No frills means no appointment follow up, no calendar reminders, not even a greeting when you arrive. read more

This facility has an extremely incompetent and rude receptionist who clearly is unhappy with her life, her job or all of the above. All that aside, scheduling at this facility became a bit of a nightmare when they had some building issues that caused them to cancel my scheduled appointment. I typically pick evening appointments because that's what works best for me & she kept calling back with midday appointments that are extremely inconvenient. Regardless I picked 11 am on a Friday and was a few minutes late. Upon arrival I was told I needed to reschedule -- YET AGAIN!! Prior to this, I was kept waiting a good 10 to 15 minutes by my therapist for every single appointment including the initial consult because he was busy with a prior client. I would have thought the same courtesy could be extended to me this one time...especially since I wasn't the one who rescheduled- they did. Up until then I'd had a fairly decent experience with the therapist despite the frosty receptionist (Emily). However their lack of focus on client service just lost them any future business from me & I have also advised my doctor not to refer any future clients to them. read more

Unfortunately, I cancelled services with this place after the first session. My PT was distracted, the room noisy and chaotic, and appointment only lasted 30 minutes. Overall, extremely disappointed with the staff at this location. Also was asked to write down my credit card number with expiration date so they could "keep on file for easier billing". I do find it odd that two hours after I cancelled services with this location, my entire bank account was wiped out. No causality here, but the timing of it was interesting to me. An unwelcoming, rushed experience all around, and not one I would ever recommend. read more

I have found Recovery Physical Therapy to be fabulous. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful - especially with insurance issues. The therapists, especially the manager of the location, are well trained and competent. I recommend RPT to everyone I know who needs phys. therapy. I have been going 2X a week for the past few weeks due to back issues. I have had injections and chiropractic care but this is the first time in many years that I see improvement with my condition. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and they have worked with me in both scheduling and with the insurance issues. The Physical Therapists are friendly and knowledgable. They work with you one on one and show you what you should be doing at home too (though I don't do as much as I should). I can see how people may not get along with their therapists as being in pain does not always allow you to have a friendly disposition. Additionally, it is the job of the PT to work on your injury which can result in more pain for the short term. The room you work in is not the biggest but I never felt that another patient was intruding into my space as a prior reviewer mentioned. The facility is located in a gym so you have access to the all of the equipment for your therapy. While another reviewer took offense at being asked if he would like to put his credit card on file, it did not bother me as this is normal to do. When I said that I wanted to pay as I go there were no problems. Not every place is perfect and this one is no exception. The issue for me is that there is no changing area so I have to come in clothing that allows me to receive therapy in. Depending on the body part that needs the therapy this could be a concern to you. As I live close by it is just a minor annoyance. I do know what I am talking about as I have been in the medical field for years. This facility and the people in it know what they are doing and do a great job. read more

A small place with big results! On my first appointment, I cried I was in so much back pain. I was scheduled to have epidural injections as my feet were getting numb and the sciatica was getting worse. After 3 sessions with Jaclyn I was able to cancel the injections. I have thrown out my back 3 times in my life and was sure this was going to be the worst. Jaclyn had me doing simple movements and stretched me and it is working like a charm. The exercises are getting me stronger and better able to handle myself. When you walk in the receptionists are nice, and always remember my name. Don't let the small room make you think there won't be big results! I am in awe of what Jaclyn has achieved with me! read more

This is my second time having PT following knee surgery. The first was for a meniscus repair and my most recent was for a ruptured ACL. I did not go to Recovery PT after my first surgery and only wish that I had. My experience here has been exceptional. My therapist is friendly, he listens and is responsive to what I tell him is happening - not just with my knee but with other areas like my hips, lower back, ROM issues, etc. that have also been impacted by the injury. Their approach has been to address all of these things together, which has certainly helped me reach a fuller recovery. I'm very glad that I found them. read more
