Great therapy. Miccass is smaller and not a chain. The sessions are very personalized. The first 30 min, the PT works on me , with a massage, alignment or anything else I need. She recommends a bunch of exercises and changes them accordingly- then for the remainder of the session, an assistant helps me with the exercises. This was strangest experience ever. This started with the receptionist being cold and unfriendly and then therapist assigned seemed surprised that my ortho recommended 2-3 times a week of therapy after an epidural. Therapist basically gave me a few exercises to do at home and a YouTube video to watch and said come back if you want. I have been to other therapy places around NYC and know what to expect and this was very very disappointing after all the rave reviews. Maybe it was just one therapist but I'd rather go some where else. read more

Before working with Shoshana at Miccass, I was having difficulty walking up or down stairs, having trouble getting up from sitting, and suffering hip and thigh pain with nearly every step I took. Every morning I wondered how painful my first steps would be. In my sessions with Shoshana, she began by asking where I was feeling pain, and what activities were causing difficulty. Her massage was targeted using this information to alleviate muscle tension. She designed exercises that addressed flexibility and strength, helping me understand what level of exercise my body could tolerate as I gradually regained strength. She was always compassionate and encouraging, taking into account the demands of my work. I looked forward to my appointments. The system of booking is so well organized, and allows for flexibility of scheduling. When I had a busy schedule and was unable to schedule with Shoshana, I worked with Charles, who was also wonderful. The ability to work consistently with a trainer (and also a consistent sub) meant that each session built on what was already established. On the handful of times that I worked with Charles, Shoshana had left excellent notes, and that allowed for a seamless continuation. The desk staff always kept me apprised of the status of my insurance approvals. Thanks to Miccass, I was able to dance at my daughter's wedding a few weeks ago! Shoshana left me with the confidence to continue my progress on my own, knowing how to listen to my body. I cannot imagine a more supportive and comprehensive environment to receive physical therapy in than Miccass! read more

My first experience with physical therapy, and it's been really good. All the people there, from the front desk to the therapists to the assistants are first class and very encouraging. While I'm there for my knee, I have an ear disease that has done serious damage to my hearing and my balance. The trainers have been very helpful and understanding with that also. Most importantly, my knee is doing much better. Perhaps I'll be back to work on the balance issue. Meanwhile, I heartily recommend Miccass PT. read more

Miccass was aces all-around! I've had a complicated history of knee surgeries, most recently a high-tibial osteotomy to alleviate joint pain. So I've also been to a number of different PT practices. Miccass has been the best. Starting with the knowledge of physical therapist, in my case I was fortunate to be paired with Ogechi. Her knowledge and compassion were top-knotch, I could write an entire, glowing review on her alone! I prefer to stick with the same therapist when possible, but also has different Miccass therapists based upon schedule who were also great. Additionally, kudos to the assistants and front desk. Great physical therapists! I went here after a foot surgery and couldn't have been happier.

I did a little basic internet search for a place to go to for therapy after my Labrum tear. I figured I'd give this place shot because of the pictures and credentials from therapists listed on their website. Im so happy I found this place and gave it a go. They surpassed my expectations of what a Physical therapy facility offers. This is my second surgery. The first time I had surgery I thought the therapy at that time (in 2012) was good. Boy was I wrong! After working with the Miccass family and getting careful, caring, and meticulously organized workouts/exercises its clear to see that the place I went to in 2012 was lame. Miccass is the real deal! All the staff members are courteous, happy, energetic and genuinely love and are enthusiastic about what they do. They really work hard with you and push and make sure that you will leave there feeling great and are one step closer to your goal of having a full recovery. I am and have currently been working with Patricia Cavaleri who is phenomenal. She is really thoughtful and consistent with the programs she has formulated for me. She is very intelligent and knows her stuff. She explains what she is doing to you and why you should do what it is she is directing you to do. Even though I have not worked with the other therapists when I look around I can clearly see that they as well are also great therapists in how they interact with clients. The assistants ( sorry I don't know their title) that help the therapists are also great guys who push you and make sure you are comfortable as well. I went to MICCASS after cervical spine surgery to relieve pain caused by two "pinched nerves". The "pinched nerves" left me with tremendous weakness and loss of function in my right arm from my neck to my fingers. Slowly, but surely, over several months my sessions at MICCASS brought me back to full strength and function (except for tiny deficits only time will heal). MICCASS , and in particular my therapist, Ogechi (and Michael who seamlessly pinch hit for her on occasion), really worked hard and effectively with massages and exercises to restore me to pre-op condition. Not only were they effective, but they also took a personal interest and were very congenial throughout. The assistants and front desk staff were similarly helpful, efficient, and friendly making it all a great experience. The facility is bright and kept very clean. The personal attention, atmosphere, and culture are just amazing. Hard to imagine better. Not surprising that the results are excellent, too. read more

Miscass PT has helped me several times. Jenny and her staff are fantastic. When I was diagnosed with a miniscus knee issue, my orthopedist from HSS recommended Jenny and her team. Through physical therapy the issue was resolved and my knee is quite strong. I did not need surgery as a result of the PT. The new office is beautiful and very spacious. I saw Patty and Ogechi after having ACL surgery, they were both great. took time to listen to what was important to me and got me back to running and playing sports. The front desk was super helpful, communicative and easy to schedule with. I had a great experience being treated at Miccass after knee replacement surgery. My therapist was Prima and she was knowledgable, caring and prescribed just the right exercises after treating me 1-1 every week. The PT assistants who worked with me diligently through each session were enthusiastic and caring. I got a lot of individual attention, there was plenty of room in the facility to be treated safely and the overall level of professionalism couldn't be beat. I came to Jenny Chamoun and Miccass PT after tearing my ACL and MCL, and was not happy about the pain and reduced mobility. Jenny and her team were absolutely stellar: kind, encouraging, motivating, full of helpful answers to any questions I had, and as invested in my success as I was. Every person who works at the studio is friendly and professional, the equipment is clean and well maintained, and all in all the staff turn what could be an annoying slog of an experience into something almost fun. They cheer you on as you get better and better, and are truly partners in the work you do as you improve. While I HOPE never to have to return to Miccass, if I ever hurt myself again, I will go running back! Jenny was recommended to me in reverent tones by someone who saw me in my knee brace, and from now on if I hear about or see anyone similar, I am instantly sending them to Miccass! read more

You would think that because it's a very small operation (super tiny space) that customer service would be super important, but I found the front desk staff (who handle scheduling and billing) to be a bit rude and dismissive. Honestly, that's pretty much par for the course in many medical offices, but then one day I arrived at this place about 15mins late for an appointment and the receptionist literally yelled at me in front of other clients. I was totally embarrassed, distressed and quit on the spot. Mind you, I was still in need of therapy and did not want to quit, but the experience was too jarring. My therapist later apologized to me, which I appreciated, but I no longer felt comfortable returning to the space. That's not how you treat people who are injured and trying to get better. I wish I could have used the therapists on staff but just at another location without dealing with the admin staff. It's not 'horrible' by any stretch, but I wouldn't recommend using them, too much hassle and insensitivity from admin to patients in a weak/recovering state for such a tiny office and crowded space. Note: If you are a therapist there and know who I am, please know that I appreciated your work (thank you, sincerely) and I agonized over leaving this review, but months have passed and I still feel very belittled and disrespected by the admin staff there. read more

I recently received physical therapy services from Jenny Chamoun at Miccass for a shoulder injury. I was referred by my physician at HSS who said Jenny was the best physical therapist on the Upper West Side. My situation is a bit unusual in that I travel extensively and therefore cannot schedule a regular in-office regimen. Jenny was very flexible and gave me a stretching and exercise program that I could use while traveling and work in office visits as my schedule allowed. She was also always promptly available by e-mail to answer questions or concerns. My shoulder has improved to that point where I can partake in all my activities. My golf game is back to where it was before the injury and I can play as much as I want. I would use Jenny again without hesitation and recommend her to anyone needing PT services and especially to anyone that travels a lot and needs a program that gets the job done but fits into their travel schedule. read more

After just three sessions of PT for a bad back I was in agony for months: her assessment and treatment were completely wrong and left me much, much worse than when I came to her.
