Their specialized rehabilitation teaches the patient how to live life from a wheelchair. As terrible and as sad as an injury like this is, no one was in there moping. The positive energy that fills this hospital is amazing. It's truly incredible to see what a person can do with the right information. This rehabilitation center provides the patient with information that, while not hard, may have never been utilized. I give this place five stars because the staff, every one of them were sincere, positive, and accommodating. I have one exception. A doctor who seems to have fallen into a rut of repetition, unwilling to personalize his specific and unique authority. Dr. Lance Bruce. When questioned about a credible, however unique (to the patient) condition, he blew it off and was rather rude. I am not going to get into specifics, but my family has health care experience so we weren't just talking out of our respective you know whats. But since there is such minimal contact with this doctor, even if you are his patient, and since the real support comes from everyone else here, I still give this place an A+ for making such a terrible situation for someone into a manageable lifestyle. Family is also welcome at all times. Each patient has a weekly meeting about their progress in which their doctor, physical therapist, nurse, social worker, and family are in attendance.

I encourage you to visit, and see for yourself how nice it is and ask if you qualify. There are no high-pressure sales, just a polite personalities that really wants to help you find a solution. What is Simpson Place? It is an assisted living and skilled nursing community that offers care and support for low- and moderate-income senior adults. I assure you that this location looks & feels like an upscale hotel. You are greeted by friendly faces when you step in the door. The lobby is spacious and full of energy. The dining area is open, beautifully decorated, and clean. Even though I did not get to see the food, the menu offered healthy and alternative options. The community space had comfortable seating, by a bookcase and fireplace, very nice! The activities room was large and obviously used often. A resident said hello and expressed how much she enjoys living there (that was a huge plus!). As a resident, you get a 1 bedroom studio apartment. It's comforting to know that if skilled nursing is needed at some point, that service is available in the same building. I visited the rehab area and could see that the equipment was new, clean, the overall setup was impressive. What you really want to know is ... how much does it cost? Maybe nothing! Let Cory work with you and discover what you qualify for. In my case, I was thrilled to learn they accept Molina and Superior Star Plus waiver (Medicaid programs). You can certainly do private pay which is 3,000 a month. Either way, this includes the utilities, cable, wifi, housekeeping, daily activities, three meals a day plus 24\7 security. The staff taking care of your loved ones are all licensed CNA'S, CMA'S and LVN'S, who also manage the medications. In addition, there is a doctor who visits the communities. It is a 28 day program. T.C.R.C. requires negative COVID test results in hand when arriving and recommends filling all scripts with a 30 day supply of your meds. The staff was exceptional, held meetings all day Monday - Friday and on Saturday and Sunday as well (just not as many). The mansion was clean, food was great...all done by clients. From what I can recall, the schedule was something like this: Monday - Friday 6AM was breakfast (cereal) & 1st Med Call 7:45AM was morning Meditation (basically roll call Mood, Affirmation Quote, etc) 8AM - 9AM was chores / cleanup 9AM - noon was meetings (AA, NA, CA and in house staff led meetings). Noon - Lunch prepared and served by clients 1PM - 5PM was meetings (AA, NA, CA and in house staff led meetings). 2PM was afternoon Med Call 5PM was dinner 8PM was evening Meditation 9PM was last Medication call, temperature check and snacks. 10:30PM was lights out. Saturday and Sunday we started later and had a hot breakfast on Sunday Morning. Sweet Tea and Coffee all day everyday. 7 smoke breaks a day, vapes are allowed and there is USUALLY community cigarettes. T.C.R.C. has TONS of movies, books for idle time, 2 large TVs downstairs with Internet access on them so the staff allowed us to play YouTube music on 1 of the TVs (Group Room) while the other TV usually had sports or News on it (Boring). So we were jamming out Metallica, Pearl Jam, etc. during idle times. The kitchen also has a radio so the clients would be jamming out 97.1 The Eagle rock while preparing meals which added to the kewlness. Turtle Creek Recovery Center is NOW an ALL male facility except for Staff. There is 1 restroom downstairs for client use, 1 Handicap room equipped for 2 with shower and restroom. There are 3 bathrooms on 2nd and 3rd floors with shower / tub and 1 handicap room on 2nd floor as well with private bathroom / shower / toilet. Typically 3 males are assigned to each room, the beds are very comfortable and 2 windows per room. I had a nice view of some trees overlooking the One Uptown Condos building. After a person has been there 3 - 4 weeks, the staff tries to assign a private room for that person which is really nice. I was there for Christmas 2020 and New Years 2021 and the staff hosted a WONDERFUL Christmas meal from Cowboy Chicken, had homemade dishes, we played all sorts of games (Christmas Bingo, Pin the nose of Reindeer, etc) and even gave us all really nice Christmas gifts (Knit hat, long wool socks and an Old Spice men's kit of Body Wash, Deodorant & Body Spray).

Since my teens (a very long time ago) I've been in and out of therapy. I always loved having…read moresomeone to go to that would let me vent about my week, listen without judgement, and just be in my corner. Over the years...and years... I've probably seen around 15 different therapists. I've moved. They've moved. Many, I only saw a couple of times before realizing they just weren't a good fit for me. Then there was the one that had a creepy ass collection of porcelain dolls in her office. They stared at me. I never returned. So, let's just say I've been around the block a few times when it comes to therapists. K? I contacted Amy originally about couples counseling. My partner and I went in and after the first session I knew I found someone special. She was very different than anyone I had seen before... Now let me back up. Previously, my experience with therapists always left me with the feeling that they were simply my personal paid cheerleaders. Yay me!!! They would pet me (ummm.. metaphorically), smile and nod, make all my feelings about life feel validated, give me a sucker and send me off into the world freshly stroked. Rinse. Repeat the following week. I didn't hate that. Enter Amy G. She took my sucker, tossed it aside and put a mirror in front of me. Then she made me look. WTF??? Ugh!!! She's making me DO THINGS!?!? Yeah ok... that didn't literally happen but that's pretty much how I felt. Was it scary? Hell yes. Did it need to happen? Yes, it certainly did. I never knew how much I needed a good hard look at myself. She is authentic AF. Honest and forthright. She will dig deep. She will challenge you. She will find things buried that you don't even remember hiding. Then she will make you look at it. Hard. You will confront it and it will be a bit daunting... and then.. It won't. Before you know it she's rinsing off your sucker and giving it back to you with a smile... and sometimes a joke (Yes, she cleans you out emotionally then can still make you laugh. Black magic perhaps??). Now, off you go with a new personal "knowing" or understanding about yourself. Eventually figuring out together what to do with it. In summation, if you're simply looking for a belly rub and a tickle... Move along. If you're ready to do some work and make some changes.. See Amy. She's kinda awesome. ...and maybe magic...

I also really enjoy that Amy gives feedback that isn't just your typical therapist response. She listens and responds to YOU.
