Amazing faculty and very friendly staff. Must gets membership if you live in the area.

Canella's Aqua yoga class is brilliant. She is tuned into her students and creates unique innovative ways to adapt the poses to each individual. Today we ended the class in the whirlpool which allowed us to relax into the moment. I found it very healing and supportive. I underwent serious spine surgery last spring and have restrictions as well as permanent disabilities. The water holds and nourishes our bodies as Canella guides our whole beings, mind, body and spirit. It is an amazing approach to experience yoga!! read more

I have been a member for the last year and will continue to be a member as it is the best option for me in the area. The pros -drop in daycare- with a group of wonderful ladies that take great care of my kiddos -the classes- friendly instructors, Les Mills classes which have great music and are challenging -great facilities- pools, fitness center, gym -Great location on Lake Andrea with 2.25 mile trail. -pre-school and lots of summer programs. The cons -my biggest concern is now that most classes are included in the price they say they are free for members (included and free are differen) and classes seem to have decreased. Hopefully, this is only for summer. -locker rooms are only okay. They are clean, but the showers are not good with water staying on for limited time without having to press a button and doors are short. They have just one type of shampoo/body wash in the shower and dryers are terrible. I don't get ready there often, so not a deal breaker for me. -They don't have towels in the locker room or the gym. I realize it is a huge cost saving measure but a need to know. -Pricy for the area but check with your company as you may get some sort of discount. Overall a great place, and the best option if you need daycare and want classes. read more

Not super impressed with the swim lessons. We went here after hearing good things but I wasn't impressed and most likely will not be back. The teachers lacked enthusiasm and didn't give clear instruction. I taught swim lessons for 8 years so I may be a little more critical but it's not hard to fake excitement for 35 minutes for young kids. The kids didn't seem pushed either. Super bummed it didn't turn out better. The swim instructors need some instruction. read more

My 4 year old child took 1 swim class at this facility. The 2 instructors allowed the children in an area of the pool where not all could stand up. The instructors were not watching the child and my daughter fell under the water without anyone to get her. When the instructor finally pulled her out of the water, he did not check on her or get me. Instead, he went back to playing in the water and goofing off. My daughter who loves to swim was terrified and never wanted to return there for fear that someone would let her drown. I called and expressed my serious concerns to the swim director, Kristen and also told that I would get a refund. I was only given $62 out of $67 because they decided to charge me a $5 processing fee. This facility seems very unprofessional and extremely unsafe for the children in the swim classes. read more

I have been a member for over a year. A good, clean facility. Plenty of machines, good variety of classes, and clean locker-room. Sauna, pool, and whirlpool are great. Negative? 1)Too many of the audio hook ups for TV sound at the cardio machines are either not working properly or broke off. I have put this in the comments box at the Rex Plex, but continues to be an issue. 2) Humidity in the locker room is high. Your breaking out in a sweat after showering. The install of a big fan was not a solution. Long time members say this humid environment has always been an issue. read more

My own experience is that I can pick any Group Fitness class Mon. - Thur. at 5:30 through 6:30 and it will be over crowded (Phat Attack, Zumba, Body Pump,)100% of the time from October - April. I've shared this feedback with at least 7 employees and 2 directors and they suggest you upgrade to a more expensive membership to take other classes that are just as crowded at the 5-6pm time frame, they suggest paying for personal trainers, use the weight room, go swimming etc,to take advantage of other world class amenities. Why do they try so hard to get you to do other activities instead of addressing the problems with the activities you do enjoy? So the customer service all the up to the Director level has been very poor. The amenities are great, the group fitness instructors are great, they just charge too much for overcrowded classes and bad use of existing space. read more

Great place to work out you have everything you need. The only problem is the cost to be a member is a little up there to be a member. But it is worth it for what you get read more

I had my daughter's 9th birthday party there recently,and for the most part, the kids had a good time. My complaint is the lack of attention I received from the staff. I would have thought they would have had some type of party host, or someone to maybe tell us where things were, as I was new to the facility. I was never once asked how things were going, or if I needed anything. Very disappointed! read more

Very Very poor customer service, If you approach desk for any reason, don't plan on a smile or favorable remark. I stopped by and asked if a sign could be posted to encourage mothers to bring older boys into family locker room as there were 3 boys 4-6 yrs of age in women's. Gal said loudly, I was just there I did not see any boys. More or less calling me a liar. Now is that great customer service read more

My wife and myself drive over 30 miles just to go to the gym here! AMAZING PLACE! Friendly staff and everything you could possibly want! Ice Arena, Basketball, Volleyball, Pools, Gym, Tanning...... ect. ect. ect. Try it! Prices are reasonable to and the kids court is awesome!!!!! read more

I have been going to gyms for 37 years in multiple states and even the nicest ones with the most amenities had one thing in common they were all over crowded especially peak times when we all want to use them but not at this place. When I moved to Pleasant Prairie years ago I drove by the rec Plex the first few years without going inside I had given up on using gyms as they are all oversold and overcrowded then after having surgery a number of years ago I joined to use some specific equipment, what an awesome surprise this place was. I still try to go during off peak hours and I almost have this multi million dollar facility to myself but over the years as my children attended classes for taekwondo wrestling and swimming I would find myself there on the busiest of nights (ex:7pm Thursdays ) and still be able to complete my work out getting all of the machines or weights I wanted. The 1/6 mile running/walking track on the second floor overlooking the 12 basketball courts is an excellent way to get out of the rain and cold when needed. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful and the people that work out there are equally so. I moved from Pleasant Prairie a few years ago and was so disappointed when trying to replace this gym ,people who live here really don't know what a gem it is,the closest I have ever come is the workout facility at the University of Central Florida and even that only comes close does not equal the rec Plex.I am so happy to have recently moved back and rejoined the rec Plex and other than Disney World this is my happy place. Some of the people I have met here over the years have become my best friends and so many others are friendly faces I look forward to seeing daily.The employees and patrons of this gym are an eclectic mix of young and old, men and women, making all feel welcome. read more

this was the worst day in my life!!! state swimming this past week end the person who set this up at this place should be fired. it was so over crowded that my husband is 75 had to walk 2 miles for parking we will never never go again to this location read more

Excellent facility. Have been a member for several years with children enrolled in summer camp, soccer, taekwondo, basketball, swimming. Instructors are very good. What bothered me recently was my teenager's membership had expired and they charged a daily entrance fee as I was not available to renew the membership. Registration was expired less than a week and I spoke to front desk on the phone committing to come in and renew the membership the next day to no avail. I understand that the facility is expanding in terms of amount of daily visits etc. but employees and their supervisor should be empowered to make a decision and based on knowing a regular member for many years (as they have photo and details on computer) they should have been more flexible and allow a one-time pass (a one-time pass compared to the thousands of dollars I have paid over more than ten years membership). It came across to me as overly strict and basically greedy. I hope as the Rec continues to expand and open to larger events that it does not lose its connection to the local community that served it when it first opened. read more

used to be a nice facility but needs many updates and repairs. the weight room is dark with barely any lights and slow, sleepy music. the weights are dirty and broken as are many cardio machines. the chemical in the pools are always off and give me and my son red eyes and a cough for the day. Locker rooms are always in need of a mopping. The lake and the walking path are nice though. read more
