My 7 year old daughter and I are training at Ohana and we love it here! This Academy has everything you want: 1) Chris Lund is a passionate Black Belt instructor who provides a plethora of knowledge and experience to his students. He doesn't come off as 'elite' or a 'hard ass', but passionate on delivering technique to all of his students, no matter which art he teaches. He's not there to teach one concept and move on to the next one right away. He has a very diverse class when it comes to skill and experience levels, so regardless who is there he will take his time and explain a technique, have the students perform it, and if people are making mistakes, he will bring the class back in, explain it again or improvise to help us learn the technique the best way he sees fit. The best way to explain it... He's really good people man. 2) Very friendly atmosphere. When everyone first starts, it's a very awkward feeling. You tend to anticipate the worst and try to avoid every possible means of embarrassing yourself. The students here know you are new, they meet and greet openly, and provide the necessary help you are seeking when you feel "stumped". The class/students make it fun and challenging, they help drive the hunger to become better at the art you are trying to learn and hone. 3) The Academy provides other arts besides Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, such as Muay Thai and the Filipino Martial Arts called Eskrima/Kali. I know what you are thinking and I thought the same thing as well, what is that.... Kali? In short, This is a well rounded Academy, providing arts and concepts for the striking and ground game. It does bring a whole new level in your training, providing more knowledge into your Martial Arts arsenal. 4) The music in the academy.... Yes, I said it. I actually never been to an academy that plays music during sessions. That's awesome! It's the little things that will make your stay that much more enjoyable! 5) Cleanliness is a necessity and it always appears that way. 6) The kids 'Bully Proof' class is excellent. Chris makes it very fun for them while teaching the kids technique. He would also teach them what bullying is, reinforces morals and values that we as parents teach our kids against bullying. I've been training at Ohana, along with both of my kids, for almost a year now. The gym is always kept clean and safe. Chris continually drives home the point that, when done correctly, this is an art that anyone can do for the rest of their life. Keeping people safe should always be paramount in any martial art and BJJ is no different. The community at Ohana has always been very supportive and willing to start slow with new students. The kid's classes are always kept fun while continuing to give them a very technical foundation of BJJ. Professor Lund's instruction is incredibly technical, while breaking it down into each of the small parts to make it easily digestible. Chris keeps up with his own "continuing education" in the form of visiting other schools or bringing in world champions for seminars, multiple times each year. I normally am not the type of guy to leave a review about anything. However, after attending the class for a few times it became clear that this is PERFECT ( for me ). Not only is the instructor highly decorated in the art, but his other students are just as helpful with the new guys. I am slightly older and going to ANYKIND of gym was a bit odd, but once i got there Chris and his other students made me feel like we were all highschool buddies. There is a relaxed and laid back feeling in his classes, and the students that are higher rank are nothing but helpful. Other students could easily abuse me, and they dont. Words cant explain how happy i am that i found this place. I only wish i found it 15 yrs ago. This is why im leaving my review 5 out of % stars!!! recommend it to everyone read more

If you are wanting an academy that will cultivate you to grow deeper in the combative arts of Muay Thai, JKD and BJJ this is it. If you want a barrage of moves without cultivating quality choose the other schools. This is the place to grow and get reaaaallly good.
