This service is truly wonderful. Paying Califoria CRV is, of course, the "tax" you can't avoid. And, let's be honest here, the State relies on the fact that most "cans returned for money" will likely never be cashed in. I've had 4 pickups for plastics, 1 pick for cans, and 1 for electronic recycling. Experience has been easy except remember where I put the backs and stickers. 10% service fee. Check comes faster than I check my mail (which is infrequent, maybe once a month?). No money for electronic recycling (informational, not a complaint). The app is simple to use. You set a schedule. Love the feature that allows them to pick it up earlier if they happen to be in the area. No clue if they ever were able to but I do see the truck in our neighborhood every so often so... at least potentially? I have had no issues thus far. I just see the bags are gone within a couple hours have scheduled time. I do wish to know if "early" pickup includes other days. For example, sometimes I can only schedule 3 days from today. Should I leave it out until then? So far I only put it out the morning of the day. A bit of a disclaimer, I have never used an at-location service. I have no idea if it is any better or worse. There is a 25 pound limit per pickup. I have not had an issue with that. It is just as easy to schedule two pickups, so just parse it out if you have too much. My family is probably slightly below average on consuming goods and takes us a few months to collect about a bag worth. If one thing is confusing, I take the payments by check. I tried the electronic payment which I think is through Venmo but that required a business/commercial account? That was too much of a hassle for me. I barely use Venmo (maybe once a year and never remember my password). That was about a year or two ago? Haven't tried changing it since. No complaints about the check option. I just use the bank app to deposit it. read more

Great service and super easy. I signed up and received my bags a couple days later. The introductory instructions on the app state the cans/bottles can be "comingled," but a rep I emailed with said they prefer them separated. Oh, and they'll only pay for 25 pounds of each material type (not total). So, you can do 25 lbs plastic, 25 lbs aluminum, etc. Anything over that is a tip for them. So, everything separated (so I knew my material weights) and my bag of glass bottles just under 20 lbs, I stuck the included QR code labels on the bags, used the app to scan them, and scheduled a pickup date. They came and carted the bags away and two days later, I had the money in my PayPal account. Their 10% fee was worth my not having to drag the bags to the recycling center and deal with all that entails. Recycle from Home makes recycling the easiest its been since I was a kid, when we just took our bottles to the grocery store (yeah, I'm old). read more

If you live in an area served by Recycle From Home and do not use the service, you need to sign up immediately. We recycle a lot of bottles - Orange Juice, water, and sparkling water. Level set, I'm 74 and find it very easy. We simply put our items into provided bags. Put a provided sticker on each full bag. When it's time for pickup (we go for 3 or 4 full bags), use the app to scan the tags and set up the pickup. If you use PayPal, very fast payment. I request checks so it takes about 2 days. Everything is done on an app. When scheduling an appointment, you have the option to have them show up earlier, if available. They text when they are on their way and when they have arrived.
