Old armory turned into ice skating rink. Street parking and train station parking lot across the street. Not many handicap marked spots. Ramp to entrance available but no automatic door. Restroom is handicap accessible. Nice ice rink inside with a restaurant that serves food and drinks. Clean inside and out. Public skating is available at designated times. I can't speak about their hockey program, but I would discourage anyone who may be thinking about booking a birthday party at this location. After spending $1000 for a birthday party my guest were treated poorly as if the staff were doing them a favor. We were told that the the food court would be sectioned off for us and it was not. The kids were ushered away from the parents to the basement and were told that the parents were not allowed to participate with the kids, and to add to insult blamed the party hosts. Plus you are not allowed to bring your own food, this way they can up-charge 35% of the two cakes, a small vegetable and fruit platter. Also be prepared to tip everyone, since they will let you know. If you meet a lady of the likeness of Mrs. Tweedy I recommend you run. read more

This place is amazing,from it's bare brick wall and terrace that over hangs the ice surface. They also have comfortable seats behind the net that are comfortable for the ladies. I have had my kids enrolled in the Generals mite and squirt travel hockey and would not recommend. The Hockey Director (Yves) does not care for the parents and the coaches favor their own kids. The establishment places a higher emphasis on politics and unfortunately the kids pay the price. If you have a genuine issue with any of the coaches don't dare raising a concern as you will be retaliated against. There are better programs and do yourself a favor and find an establishment who puts integrity before special interests. read more

VERY Cool looking facility but that's where it ends. The public skate sessions are usually a mob scene and very dangerous for skaters of all ages. The skate guards are young kids that do nothing but skate around and look at the girls. The Armory has a "learn to skate" program for young kids and It is totally over sold . There is limited changing space so don't be surprised if you are crawling on the floor with people stepping over you. The class size is too large for kids to learn and its only a 1/2 hour long. In addition, one of the owners, Leslie Brooks, who is in charge of the learning program , has a DOWN RIGHT bad attitude. She needs to know that parents are doing back flips to get their kids to and from activities AND THAT IN SPITE OF THE CHAOS THAT HER FACILITY INHERENTLY CREATES a pleasant demeanor would go along way. Remember that WE ARE THE PAYING CUSTOMER...NOT ONE OF HER ADOLESCENT EMPLOYEES ! What a shame...skating should be fun but when you are the only act in town you MAY THINK THAT YOU can afford to abuse your customers BUT I AM NOT ONE OF THEM ! read more

Was really hoping this place would nurture my young kids' love of skating and hockey. Esp since one of their parents grew up playing hockey, played thru college and into adulthood. Unfortunately, the staff is as cold as the ice. They do not seem to have any knowledge of how to teach/treat young children. A warm greeting, a smile, some compassion and patience should be the most minimal requirements for dealing with 4 and 5 year olds. We've had wonderful experiences with other sport lessons including skiing and even ice skating elsewhere. I heard this place was "militant" but they far exceeded my worst expectations. Terrible experience for my young kids and a giant waste of money for us. We definitely wont be signing up for lessons here ever again. Zero points. read more

The people that own this armory building Doug and Leslie Brooks are bad neighbors. They have a loud machine on top of the building that bothers the entire neighborhood. They have a sound proof wall for it. (Which they refused to build for years and were then forced to by the state for noise violations). Now they have taken a part of the wall down and after politely being asked to put it back, they have refused. These people have no respect for their neighbors whatsoever. Those of us who live near this building put up with traffic generated by this building... people park their cars in a no standing zone to unload and block the street. We put up with their dumpster being slammed when it is emptied at 5 am. Now they are refusing to simply stand up a part of a wall that would cut down on noise. Several of the neighbors have asked. So if you happen to skate there... ask Doug and Leslie Brooks why they can't be respectful neighbors. read more

My son had his first skating lesson today, his second time ever on the ice. Their coaches were fantastic he started off falling every 3 seconds by the end of the first class was able to glide several feet at a clip (still falling occasionally) but awesome job to their training. Place is clean and everyone is helpful. They have full concessions in case u get hungry or thirsty. Great place! read more

I really want to like this place but the check in staff are unfriendly and seem to hate their job. They messed up my total money owed and then seemed annoyed when they had to fix it. It's not hard to be nice to patrons where I have two kids enrolled in classes. The instructors are young and friendly. My sons first class the instructor had to help other students who couldn't get off the wall. The ice time was nice but he didn't leArn anything from his first class. I have never published a rating of anyplace I have ever been to before...either negative or positive. I feel the obligation to express my utter disappointment in the birthday party that I had at the redbank armory for my 7 year old daughter today. My little girl wanted a skating party SO badly and although it was extremely expensive I agreed because we had been to the armory many times before for free skate and always had a nice time. This time was VERY different. To be honest, from the moment I began talking to Leslie Brooks about the party I felt that she was rather inflexible and slightly unaccommodating...Considering we would be giving them more than $700 for 25 kids to skate for an hour and have pizza and ice cream cake, I would think they would go out of their way to make us feel welcome!! Before we arrived, Mrs. Brooks informed me that although I would be paying an additional $8 per parent who wanted to skate these parents would not be welcome in the party room after w their children. They would be sent to another room upstairs to wait rather than watch their children enjoy the party. Even my brother and sister in law who drove 1.5 hours to attend the party were asked to leave and go upstairs away from their 4 year old daughter who was a "guest". Have they worked with children before!!!!!! Then they barely had enough pizza and cake for all the children. Every other party I have ever hosted at any other venue (and I have four children) has ALWAYS had enough cake and pizza left over to offer to some of the grown ups in the room . Maybe the fact that they short change you on the food is why they do not want any parents around!!! They also do not offer any protective gear for the skaters. Many of our kids got extremely hurt as they did not know to bring helmets and were novice skaters. I immediately tried to find out if there were helmet rentals available at the armory and was told they do not offer this service. When I tried to discuss this safety issue with Mr. Brooks (Leslie's husband I assume) he actually screamed at me and told me "do not tell me how to run my business". I must say that his poor sweet young staff tried their best, so I did tip them all. Mostly out of pity for having to work for such a nasty person!! All in all it was a terrible experience and I warn anyone and everyone considering a party at the redbank armory to beg their child to consider Rickys, a Time to Kiln, Yestercades, a movie....ANYTHING ELSE!!! read more
