Fantastic selection of new vinyl on hand, with many "imports" that can be hard to find elsewhere. Tons of used, with great selection of all genres. Seems to have a constant supply of high quality OG pressings coming thru the shop. The owner was super friendly and knowledgeable...I would totally recommend this spot for anyone passing thru town.

If you are heading south through Stockholm, turn right at the big park on the river and--just before the train tracks, look down and to your left and you'll see it. The owner is friendly and helpful and the variety and condition of the records is outstanding. I found one of my favorite albums of all time (Music From Big Pink by The Band, original issue) for what I call The Nice Price. I also purchased albums by Lenny Cohen, the Scorpions, Sinatra, and a rarely seen disc by Alexander O'Neal (!). I will note, I saw Joy Division, Accept, Coltrane, Woody Guthrie, and much, much more. You'll pay for the exceptional find, but you'll pay a more than fair price and small store owners deserve to make a living--so support them! Albums are originals, not reissues and are almost uniformally in excellent condition. This store is moving to a bigger location in Maiden Rock, which will enable the owner to display even more albums!

Great knowledge of his collection and willingness to help was above. The prices here are good for the market! He has records divided into $1, $5, new arrivals and then alphabetical. His proximity to the high school also means that he has newer artist mixed in with the classics! Definitely worth a trip to Forest Lake.

As I had plenty of time to spare for Lunch with my brother (at the nearby 5-8 Club), I wandered over. Know Name Records struck me as a combination of a CD/Vinyl records store, a head shop, t-shirt seller, memorabilia collection, head shop, disk golf dealer, and rummage sale. The later was based on a couple sets of old speakers, a turntable, and other vintage items that were for sale. Plus from this person of 65's perspective, it didn't look like the 2 older guys tending the counter had escaped the 60s. :) I had a great time looking around. I wasn't much interested in the weed-related or vinyl merchandise, and I would never get those speakers on the plane. But, the CDs were interesting and I found a great Vikings/Prince "Purple Reign" (if only for that NFL team) jersey that I just had to take home (see picture). I'm sure to come back the next time I'm anywhere this side of the Crosstown Freeway. Plus I'd fully expect that there would be a whole new inventory to explore. Good prices too.

Jean is a treasure herself--a Fenton and glass expert and connoisseur with all kinds of passion for all things glass.
