This hunt was a real treat for me. After hunting for over 60 years, finding huntable land putting in all the work setting it up, only to have it go away for one reason or another, for my 75th birthday I tried a "Dude Hunt." For what I pay to lease land, This was an absolute bargain!! It was a great choice. All I had to do was pay my fee and show up. Jim or Eric took me to the stand, chosen for the wind and what I wanted to hunt. Handed me all my gear after I got in the stand, and picked my up later. I shot the biggest deer of my life the 2nd morning, Perfect 8 point 215 lbs. with a really cool marking on his face. My wife, a non hunter, came along to chill out and had a relaxing time. Jim asked her to come out to see where I was hunting and retrieve my deer, she grabbed her camera and was impressed with the set up and experience. I tried to help Eric drag the deer out but Jim ran me off. Eric and his assistant prepped and packed the meat in my cooler for me to process at home. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. I've paid $200 a night and were not near as good. Miss Annabelle kept the good food coming for lunch and supper. Soooo much better than what I have in the camper when I'm hunting by myself, and I didn't have to clean up. I told her I usually lose weight when I go hunting but not this time. The overall experience was like a fun visit with old friends, except I wasn't allowed to help. God willing, I'd go back. read more

A friend and I went Turkey hunting there on April 15. He got one and I passed on a jake. The family friendly atmosphere and lodge were outstanding, as was the owner Jim, whom is as knowledgeable about Turkey hunting and guns as anyone I have ever met. As we arrived to the lodge, another hunter and Jim came back from the swamp with a nice 8 foot Alligator; an exciting start! This is a friendly, safe and wonderful place to visit for those interested in hunting and the shooting sports. Jim's son was also a guide and a very well spoken and poised young man. Had the absolute best experience with Mr. Jim Boone at Red Bluff. The lodging accommodations were excellent and Jim gave me pointers on how to better hold my rifle and other slight adjustments. I had a great deer hunt, shooting 3, and these were my first ever! The whole experience for first time hunters and seasoned hunters is excellent! Overall my brother and I had a good trip. Our trip was at the end of hog hunting season. We saw hogs. I shot a really big pig the first night and we looked for pig for quite awhile, but could not track the pig's location. The second night I shot a pig and dropped it where it stood. I called Jim to come and get me, but he was too tired to get up. He had a fishing tournament that morning and he was tired. I felt that Jim's personal life interfered with our hunt. My pig was gut shot and waited hours for him to come out. I was told to stay in the stand. I complied with that request, I felt I could have cleaned the hog while whiting for him. My brother shot a hog, but due to Jim's tiredness we didn't look long for it. My brother was not happy, but kept this to himself, as did I. The prosesser called me three months later telling me that he meant to call me, but kept forgetting too. He told me that the meat that was sent over was the worst that Jim had ever sent to him, like it had not been cleaned for a extended period of time and could not be processed - even though I was told it would be ok to process. Jim did tell us that he was going to Africa to hunt Elephant and he was leaving the next day. read more
