We got married in Sun Peaks, but we were from out of town Gavin took the time to meet us before the wedding, and got an understanding of who we were as a couple. This really showed in our photos - he and his wife Jordan were able to capture shots that really suited our personality, and this meant a lot. I had a frustrating customer experience with Red Door Photography this summer. I had "won" a free…read morephoto shoot and was eager to get updated family photos. Shelley had said that she would sell me a disk of my images so that I could print my own photos. However, after I paid for the disk I realized the photos were not what I had hoped for. They had been shot in odd sizes so that I couldn't print a 4X6 without cutting off body parts. Some images were colour, some were sepia, some were black and white. I repeatedly asked Shelley to give me all the images in colour - and at a printable size - but she refused. She said that I should have let her produce the prints for me. After months of emails, she finally sent me some of my shots in colour - but to this day I still don't have one of my photos. I would advise future Red Door customers to sit down with Shelley before their shoot day and clearly let her know what end product they are envisioning. Then ask her what she plans to deliver. The lack of communication I experienced during my interactions with Red Door left me feeling ignored as a customer. The bottom line here - Shelley's status as a "professional photographer and artist" meant that she wasn't willing to consider my needs as a customer. Her aesthetic decisions trumped my preferences. Shelley is a reasonably talented photographer, but at the end of the day that doesn't really matter if the photos I end up with aren't what I wanted.
