I was recently in the cute Clarion PA area on a lovely road trip with my husband. One day our…read morenature walk plans were thwarted by rain, so we decided to hang out in the village. While he did some work at Michelle's Cafe across the street, (great coffee and free wifi!), I dodged a few rain drops to do some some shopping. Main Street Emporium can be found inside Dan Smith's Candies (https://www.yelp.com/biz/dan-smiths-candies-and-gifts-clarion?hrid=PcJVc3SHwlsRnHN9fUcaYg). When you enter the candy store, the Emporium is straight ahead and all the way to the back, both upstairs and downstairs, with more merchandise located on the upstairs level. This is a store comprised of a variety of independent seller stalls, selling mostly second-hand goods. The store isn't huge, but was bigger than I expected it to be upstairs, with a couple unforeseen turns into a few different spaces on the second level. The range of seller booths contain a mishmash of antiques, decoratives, toys, games, collectibles, crafts, housewares, fashion accessories, jewelry, apparel, books, artwork, and a little bit of everything in between. There is even a live houseplant seller! That was a first; I have not seen live plants in this kind of store before. One of my purchases was a lovely potted spider plant for just five bucks! I also found an authentic Russ Troll for five bucks that had a shirt on that said "40 is not old if you are a tree."--this was perfect to go with my turning-40-brother's bingo bag gift I got him for his birthday! One oddball thing I always look for when I'm in a store like this too are topless mermaid figurines--and I found one for a buck! (Yes, they must be topless, because as a woman I know how ridiculous it would be to wear an uncomfortable seashell bra all day, and am certain a mermaid would never do such a preposterous thing, haha.) To round it out, we got a nice pile of vintage sci-fi books for two bucks a piece, something my husband and I collect. We found some great titles, including the full "The Fuzzies" trilogy! Checkout for the Emporium is the same counter as Dan Smith's Candies. If you are buying both Emporium goods and candies/gifts from Dan's, the friendly counter staff will ring you out at the same place. I had a really nice time rainy-day-perusing the shelves at Main Street Emporium. When we're back in the Clarion PA area, I'd surely stop in again to see what's new!

When we first walked in, I though it was a tiny little shop of knick knacks, post cards and toys. Boy was I wrong. There is a huge room behing that is filled with linens, cast iron pans, tea pots, fishing/hunting items, tools, cookie jars, hats, lunch boxes, kitchen utensils, and on and on. Beautiful crystal, decanters, pitchers, wall art, nursery items, pyrex, lamps. OK, you get the idea. The owner is an absolute doll. She told me to open drawers and look inside things because there was stuff everywhere. :D She also let us know there is a warehouse of items that are too large to fit in the store, like furniture and lawmowers and such. Maybe give them call if you are looking for something in particular to see if they have it available. From what I see in store, and what they seem to have elsewhere, they just may have what you need. Even if they don't have it, they can 'keep an eye open' for it when they are out on their buying trips. We did end up purchasing a few items. That's a few more than I planned. There is a gravel parking lot on the side of the building with a path leading from the lot to the entrance. The prices are good. If you are looking for something specific (set of dishes, a collectible, a ceiling light) or just like to wander, you should definitely stop in. Those little hand made aprons are adorable, and that 'Cow jumped over the Moon' lamp - perfect.

( they wouldnt even allow her to unwrap her items and see what they were taking )they were extremely careless with my mother's possessions (that they didnt take). made awful comments that they don't pay for memories. they're lucky I was not out there or I would have sent him packing. The $200 they gave her was an insult to say the least, for probably 5 to 10+ grand worth of items. they took, paid less than pennies on the dollar. I will NEVER do business with them and they ought to be ashamed of themselves. idk how they even sleep at night ripping off our community.

We go there every time we visit the area looking for Johnson Bronze presentation items and Shenango China. My family dealt in antiques for many years and I have been in antique shops throughout the US and Canada and Twin Oaks is definitely one of the best.

Much of the fare is characteristic of what one might expect from a typical antique co-op. The furniture and ephemera (paper) available are the standouts. While haggling may not be encouraged, I have found it to be effective. In short, there may not always be "something for everyone," but there always seems to be something for me. If passing through this is definitely worth the drive from the Interstate 80 Clearfield exit .
