We stopped here last night in our RV, nice campground, very clean great staff. It was too hot outside, so we just hunkered down in the RV with the Airco running. There are quite a few little RV parks in this area, and it's a safe place to stay.

AWARENESS: Red Desert Rose Campground was a overnight stay while traveling to and from South Dakota. One overnight in June 2022 and the other night was a few weeks later in July 2022. NARRATIVE: In June of 2022, we arrived at Red Desert Rose Campground around 6 pm. After setting up the 5th wheel and grabbing a cocktail, the wife and I went for a walk around the grounds. The park is an older one as you can see by the photos I took of the play area. Not much to do at the park itself but, the town just outside of the campground seems quaint and quiet. SCENE: Red Desert Rose Campground is located just off the I80 Freeway. The freeway sounds of cars and trucks wizzing can be heard and may interfere with your sleep. The park and its sites are gravel with very little grass or shade. RECOMMENDATION(S): For an overnight stop, this park will do.

So there is a downfall to this place! If your staying long term yes the price is good BUT CHECK YOUR TRAILER FOR NICKS IN THW WINDOWS AND BODY! They mow the weeds which kicks up rocks! So we now have knicks in our windows and on the trailer paint! She knew she hit us because she looked up.

    Very junky.

Very run down park. Looks like it was nice some time ago. Weeds everywhere. 7 piles of dog crap in our site. This is the most unmaintained park we have been in. It's way over priced at $50 a night. Very narrow pull through site that does not fit my truck and 35' 5th wheel hooked up.

We stayed here four nights. Wonderful staff/management. Our site was a graveled, mostly level, pull-through with full hookups, wi-fi, and cable. Their rest rooms/showers are the nicest and cleanest we have encountered. It looked like what you'd find in a nice hotel, not a campground. The only negative is that the sites are VERY close together. We had other fifth wheels on both sides of us and where or slide outs were extended we only had 2-3 get between us. (Also be aware that there is a train nearby that goes through 3-4 times between 2-4 a.m. Not really the campground fault, but something to be aware of.)

    Wyoming country is sure pretty.

Beautiful spot! Easy pull thru. Great overnight place. We booked late and they were nice enough to leave perfect instructions to our spot. Totally recommend this stay.

The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is, we simply weren't there long enough to make full use of the long list of amenities. But our brief overnight was an absolute pleasure. We were about 3 hours away when we called to secure a spot and had the joy of speaking with Samantha who cheerfully took our info and gave us our instructions. We arrived after hours picked up our paperwork and headed to our site. Clean, clear and well marked we were hooked up and settled in quick as you please. The facility is clean in all aspects and the faces are friendly. The Red Desert Rose is the only place to consider if you're stopping in Rawlins. And if you happen to be coming up from New Mexico, bring Samantha some Hatch Chillies!

We had site 38 which was a decent distance from the highway so the traffic noise was not bad at all. 2. Site had nice little patio and furniture with a small privacy fence around 2 sides. 3. Easy access to sites 4. Friendly desk attendant 5. Good water pressure in showers. 6.Campground area was clean. CONS- 1.This is most important. The hot water in the shower was only SLIGHTLY WARM. Seriously it NEVER actually got even close to hot water. Husband and I were in 2 different shower stalls of course, his did not get hot either. This was with the water turned all the way on hot, we both let it run on straight hot but it NEVER got past slightly warm. Maybe this wouldn't be a big deal in the warmer months, but it was in the 30's this night. We do not have a shower in our truck camper so we rely on campground showers. 2. The shower stalls are VERY VERY small. Possibly only 28" wide X 5' long. Without a tape measure I can not be sure of exact size, but they could not have been much bigger than that. 3. With a flip down seat in the drying area I could only stand with my back to the wall with the seat in front of me, no room at all to move around to dry or dress. I had to remove soap, shampoo, etc off the seat flip it up to dry and dress.

High winds forced a road closure that made it impossible for us to keep a previously scheduled stay, so we called to explain the situation. The representative acknowledged the closure but told us we would not be reimbursed because we did not have "insurance protection." At no time during our many years with KOA were we required to purchase insurance, nor have we ever been denied reimbursement for circumstances beyond our control--especially when the company was already aware of the closure. Being told we were "outta luck" was unprofessional and unacceptable. We will not be returning to this KOA and will share this poor experience with other travelers.

I'd rather camp on the ground in the middle of the Gaza Strip than stay at this campground. When we arrived, we had to weave our fifth-wheel campers through what looked like a used car and trailer lot. We got to our campsites and my brother's site was a combination of mud and dog poop. If we are talking about silver linings, I can say at least we mostly couldn't tell the difference... Oh wait. Yes, we could tell the difference. K-O-A should be an acronym for Killer Odor Alert. I can tell you K-O-A does not stand for Keep On Apologizing because the manager couldn't have cared less about what happened next. We got hooked back up and ready to traverse the labyrinth of rust buckets and budget chariots, got back on the highway. Forty miles in, I glanced down at my gas gauge. I was nearly empty. We filled up the DAY BEFORE. Someone had siphoned the gas out of my truck that was hooked to the trailer. I called Kevin, the supposed manager who also handled the booking, and explained our experience. He asked me what I was looking to get out of the conversation, I said how about $100 to offset the cost of the fuel? Reasonable, right? He responded with "I can't do that." So I hung up. Long story short - terrible experience. I'll never go back. -- M. Dugdale, Glendo WY P.S. If anyone wants to know what good campgrounds look like, come to Glendo.
