My husband and I have been KOA members for several years and have enjoyed their amenities across the U.S. But we recently experienced the worst customer service we've ever encountered. High winds forced a road closure that made it impossible for us to keep a previously scheduled stay, so we called to explain the situation. The representative acknowledged the closure but told us we would not be reimbursed because we did not have "insurance protection." At no time during our many years with KOA were we required to purchase insurance, nor have we ever been denied reimbursement for circumstances beyond our control--especially when the company was already aware of the closure. Being told we were "outta luck" was unprofessional and unacceptable. We will not be returning to this KOA and will share this poor experience with other travelers. read more

I recently stayed at the Rawlins KOA Journey. Let's put it this way - it was a journey getting in and out and not one I would recommend. I'd rather camp on the ground in the middle of the Gaza Strip than stay at this campground. When we arrived, we had to weave our fifth-wheel campers through what looked like a used car and trailer lot. We got to our campsites and my brother's site was a combination of mud and dog poop. If we are talking about silver linings, I can say at least we mostly couldn't tell the difference... Oh wait. Yes, we could tell the difference. K-O-A should be an acronym for Killer Odor Alert. I can tell you K-O-A does not stand for Keep On Apologizing because the manager couldn't have cared less about what happened next. We got hooked back up and ready to traverse the labyrinth of rust buckets and budget chariots, got back on the highway. Forty miles in, I glanced down at my gas gauge. I was nearly empty. We filled up the DAY BEFORE. Someone had siphoned the gas out of my truck that was hooked to the trailer. I called Kevin, the supposed manager who also handled the booking, and explained our experience. He asked me what I was looking to get out of the conversation, I said how about $100 to offset the cost of the fuel? Reasonable, right? He responded with "I can't do that." So I hung up. Very nice campsite. I was worried about it from some of the bad reviews. For rv camping it was a great stop with clean bathrooms and nice host. I've been to a lot of campgrounds and this place isn't bad. A few things look a little worn like the picnic table and sewer cap but it's nice. I didn't see any "long term trailer people" but I can see how it would be noisy if you were camping in a tent. I liked it here. Good place to stop if you are traveling through. read more

This is the very first KOA I have ever stayed at. Having never traveled in an rv, or to an KOA, my initial impression was what the h did I just get myself into? (I am a former backpacker and camping deep in the woods is more my thang) And then we saw the family that owns it, the very cute little playground, and other happy looking rvers and I decided to brush my city girl views aside and give this place a shot. I LOVED it. First of all my husbands initial plans were to just cross our fingers and hope for a first come first serve camping spot in another area. I politely asked for a place with hook ups given 3 out of the 4 family members have never gone on an rv trip. This was the place he found. I'm so thankful! The family here was so polite and kind, their daughter played with our kids, the facilities were super clean and well kept. Far exceeded my expectations. It is close to the freeway but that did not bother us at night and we all slept like a dream. Will stop here again on future adventures through Wyoming. I would add pictures but my kids are in all of them and that seems weird lol Highly recommend! Two thumbs up unless you're someone who bought a camper because it looked cool that one time you saw someone post about it on Instagram. read more

After a long day of travel we finally arrived at our cabin ready for bed but it was swarmed with moths. There were at least 20-30 moths flying around in the room. We called the provided number for help and they said there was nothing we could do except stay at another place. Extremely disappointed and tired. They left us with no other options and no where to stay. Would not recommend. read more

Pretty sub par. The staff is fantastic and the sites are relatively spacious. However highway and train noise is plentiful. There's also an apartment complex behind the KOA that is worrisome...though i found listening to the husband and wife fight in their apartment entertaining, it wasn't the camping experience I hoped for. The splash pad is also closed right now. The few extra dollars for a hotel would have been worth it. Loved the staff though! read more

Dirt lot. Many here appear to be long term residents in their trailers. This whole side of Rawlins trailerland. Keep driving.

Luckily we just rolled in late and left early. No dump station, caution taped off, no "splash park" which is there only attraction, and construction next to our site. Seemed a little dirty compared to other KOA's we recently stayed at. There's also a terrible oil smell in the air, maybe the whole town smells like that but I woke up with a headache .. people in the shop were not overly friendly as wells read more

We needed a stop in Rawlins for a single night to break up a long drive and picked the KOA. The park is right off the freeway, but we had very little noise from the traffic. The roads and sites are gravel and most of the sites are pull through. Our site was just long enough for us park and leave the car attached overnight. Each site has a small concrete pad with a table and privacy wall to help block some of the wind that is frequent in the area. We did not check out the restrooms or showers as we were only there a few hours. Staff during checkin was great. Their wifi worked fine and they had cable at each site. This is an excellent stop-off KOA. This is certainly not a destination campground but we had a nice shower and sleep here. We stayed in a camping cabin. The little playground was also nice for our kids after the long drive. It can get super windy here in Rawlins so I wouldn't recommend tent camping here. The very definition of a shithole!! Keep driving! This is the first RV park that we ever pulled into (with paid reservations) and once we saw our site we just turned right around and got right back on the freeway. Dirty, gravel, weeds, poor hookups, and right next to the freeway. It was GROSS! read more

This place was great! The Kabin was affordable and clean! What a great way to travel with our dogs! We got bundles of firewood for $4 and got to enjoy the beautiful Wyoming night sky! The camp hosts were friendly and helpful! The bathrooms and showers were really clean and kept up! It is right next to the highway, but you can't hear the traffic! This was a way better option for us rather than a low rated motel for the same price! read more

I was disappointed in this KOA, they have a splash park advertised for the kids, however when we got there it was locked with a chain. After talking to some folks that lived on site they said it never works. Spaces are dry, and unkept. WiFi is sparse, so if you want to use any device forget it. The staff was friendly however seem to have their hands tied on problems, "since they just work here". On the plus side our site had no cable, the staff worked hard to get us cable for the night. Wish I could say something more positive. read more

Loudest, windiest place I've ever camped in my life. Sounds like the trucks are gong to drive through your tent.

Really nice folks at the counter, we had made reservations a month in advance. 50 amp , pull thru, sewer,water, pretty basic for us, well when we arrived we talked to the nice folks at the counter and they confirmed our reservation and called a man in a golf cart to assist us to our site. We followed him and ended up at our site. Very unlevel and only 30 amp, we have a 40' 5th wheel and it was hot! Went to see the nice folks at the desk and they let us know that they were full and we were stuck there. The wheels on one side of our trailer was 6" off the ground, and the breaker kept tripping, even though the place is all gravel , there was a nice kids area and the freeway noise and train noises were minimal. On my way back home I will not stay here . read more

We had a great stop at the Rawlins KOA. The self check in after hours was so easy. The bathrooms were spotless, and our dogs loved the off leash dog park. Our site had a great shaded picnic table. I would recommend if you need a place to stay to break up a long drive! read more

The cabin was good, bathrooms good, showers good, good selections of novelties in office area, free coffee, hot chocolate or apple cider in office, owner and wife pleasant, and you can see mountains! And we had our own little picnic table area with fence! Super glad we picked this one. read more

Suited our needs for overnight stay. Office staff was nice, bathrooms spotless. Cable TV hook up was excellent. Most campgrounds have poor cable reception. The off leash area for dogs was not so good. Stickers in the area made it hard for my dog to get around. Maybe an improvement might be to install fake grass. Very convenient location, close to freeway exit and TA for fuel. read more

This campground is one of the worst I have stayed at. It is easy on/off the highway buy has a lot of road noise. The sites have only weeds, dirt and a few trees on the entire property. The entire campground is bone dry and dusty despite the sprinkler heads in the site. The internet is very weak. The free cable is only analog with poor picture quality. This is OK as a one night stop over but thats it. I will not be back. read more

When you pull in you see the small cabins. Their whole place is nice and clean. The store has some take homes and snacks. The restrooms are clean and the showers are individual and clean as well. Lots of pull through spaces and all worked to our needs. We don't watch tv so unsure of cable or WiFi. read more

Wouldn't recommend this KOA to my worst enemy. We arrived to the campsite after the office closed and there was no form in the reservation box. The form has your campsite number and the bathroom code, so without it, we wouldn't know where to go or even be able to use the restroom. We ended up sleeping in our car at the truck stop across the highway. Truck stop- 4/5 stars, would recommend. We came back in the morning and asked for a refund for the mixup, but instead got an angry and unreasonable owner who would not even explain why we would not get our money back. She said that is KOA's policy, but we have stayed at many KOAs and even called the company and this is not the case. I wish I could give it 0/5 stars. read more

We stopped at this KOA Camp to fill up with drinking water and dump our black and grey water. We paid $15. It was terribly windy (wind gusts of 70 mph) and hard to maneuver so we were a little slow about it. The owner was a complete jerk and told us basically to get out before we were done. He took it upon himself to unplug our electricity. How did he know we didn't have someone inside that needed it to possibly keep a life saving machine going?! He didn't. He was so rude and obnoxious. The park was NOT full and no one was waiting on reservations at the site we were using. He made us feel very uncomfortable and seemed to make his employees uncomfortable also. There was a gentleman named Hector that worked there that was extremely kind and helpful. We were glad he was around. Also the lady in the office was very nice. This owner should change his tune or he's going to lose a lot of business. We will never go back there and wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even in a bind like we were... read more

We stayed here in 2010 and again tonight. The Receptionist remembered the race car we tow. There are some poor reviews of this place but we are satisfied. We don't need hookups but a long pull-through is handy, so we were given one at reduced fee. Friendly, clean, inexpensive compared to urban KOA's. Could use more trees I suppose, and it is windy, but it is fine for an overnighter. I'd come back. read more

I don't see how ANYone could say this place was pleasant. No shade anywhere, tent sites are in weeds and HAVE NO WATER OR ELECTRIC! Entire place is in need of maintenence and a good watering. To top it off, lady at front desk was extremely rude and condescending. Dirty, run down and nasty looking. I'd rather have stayed the night in my car at the nearby Flying J... at least the people there are friendly! KIA seriously needs to do a thourough inspection and review of this Kampground; it gives KOA a bad image. read more

We stopped here overnight on our way to GTNP. We were late getting in and our reservation forms were waiting for us outside the office. The bathrooms were spotless and it's easy access to I-80. It was perfect for what we needed. read more

We stayed here for 1 night on our way to Mt. Rushmore area. I would not stay here for more than 1 night. It is right off the highway so there is road noise. It is basically a dirt lot with few bare trees and weeds. The park looked nice for the kids. We did not check out the bathroom and/or laundry facilities. They only allow you to use wifi code you are provided once so select your device carefully. They did accommodate our arrival late at night. read more
