we were traveling down I 80 and came upon a highway sign that said campers weighing less than 20,000 pounds do not proceed. There are several campgrounds in this area and we chose Western Hills Campground. We got online and chose a spot paid a deposit and proceeded on down the road to the campground. It was 1 o'clock. The office was closed from 11 to 2 and they said on their site, no early check-in. The campground is only 1/3 of the way full and we chose to proceed to the site and then go up to the office at 2 pmThe office said we are charged five dollars because we are checked in early. we were at the office at 2:05 and still no one was there. Finally someone came to open up. They nickel and dime you to death here, you also get charged if you decide not to use a full hook up site, to use their dump station, so beware not too friendly. Honestly I would have gone to one of the other campgrounds. This campground also was the more expensive one. please post on your website all the extra fees that you are putting on. We were gone by 6 o'clock in the morning so I don't think we added anything to your electric or your water bill. All doors were locked. We try them all.

This was the second time staying at this campground in two weeks. The first time we had a good experience. The bathrooms are immaculate, there is a fresh bath mat for each shower. Free girl products, lotion and spray. Very impressive. That being said, the campground is in an extremely windy location, the spots are quite close to one other with very little privacy, it's close to the freeway so you can hear the traffic all night & the train blows through a few times a night, honking their horns (we love a train so that was no biggie to us). We were told where the dump station was and at no time were we told it was $3. If we had been told, we would have paid it. Instead, an employee came down and politely asked us to pay since we were dumping. Not a great feeling, like we were cheating somehow & he said "this happens quite often". Well perhaps because you don't tell the customers it's an extra $3. Please see attached review with the exact same complaint. Since we hadn't paid for the dump on our prior visit I gave him $6 for two dumps. We won't be back. Polite or not, it's not ok to do that to people for a subpar experience.

It is basically a big gravel lot, but lots of space, easy to find and had everything we needed. A nice playground, and laundry right next to it. The only complaint is the mini golf $4 per person per game..I don't know the typical price, but eh not for me. Luckily the price for the campground is great especially if you have sams..I recommend!

Awesome find. Simple but very well done. I love these independent spots. They have so much nearby, great restaurants local. We stayed one night, great prices. Super clean restrooms, showers and lovely little touches that shows how much the owners care. Worth a stop. Enjoy. Book.

Fantastic place! We've been traveling for a couple of weeks and this place was by far one of the best! Clearly not a destination spot but, great for a pit stop. Extremely clean...bathrooms and showers were CLEAN! Laundry same! You can tell a place is clean when the candy machine has no dust and slime all over it! You can tell it's well cared for. Plants are watered and it is country decorated throughout. Site was flat and easy to pull in and out. The miniature golf course was great for my nine year old! The rustic playground was fun enough as well! Melissa in the office was friendly and helpful. Oh, and the WIFI WORKED! I was able to get some work done. So many places say they have wi-fi but, really they don't and should get boosters to help with the traffic. Stay here if in the area for sure! And, it was like $36 bucks???? SOLID recommendation!

We stayed here one night on the way through. The sites are gravel pull throughs and level - a plus. It was very quiet and well maintained. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean! They have cable, but we didn't need it. The only downside was the internet did not work at all for us. The price was reasonable. We would highly recommend this place for a stopover. They were able to give us a site without a reservation. Thanks!

Entire park is nothing but gravel. No grass or green of any kind. No trees, no shade. Looks more like a storage area than RV park. Trailers have little room between each other. No wi-fi, lets me log on but could never open any web site. I ended up using my mobile hotspot. Park has cable tv but the owner wants to charge a $3 fee for cable. I've never run into that before.

We enjoyed our stay and appreciated the friendly staff and amenities like a loaner vehicle, etc. Our most recent stay was a different story. There are new owners who recently acquired the facility from some careless previous owners who had let the place go downhill. Many of the fun things we enjoyed before were in bad shape or just not working. The new owners apologized for the "mess" and assured campers that they are working on restoring the campground to it's former glory. They were working on several items that we noted, like the mini golf, and the abundance of sticker weeds throughout the park area. One thing I regretted about our stay was that the office chose to park someone directly next to us for our single night stay when there were very few occupants and many many sites to choose from. At the very least, they could have separated each camper with an empty space in between. I understand if they were super busy and had most sites occupied, but there was hardly anyone there and we suddenly had a direct neighbor. I'm hopeful that they will be able to turn things around. I plan to check back in with them when I pass through the area. Their pricing was less than the adjacent RV park, that did not seem to offer much more.

This place has potential, but unless someone unlocks it, it will just suck. We were placed immediately next to another camper even tho there were 20 other spaces to choose from. We were told the park would fill up because ALL spaces were reserved. When we woke up, the park was just as empty as when we went to sleep. I found the "not recommended" review to be the most accurate of all these reviews.

We had site 38 which was a decent distance from the highway so the traffic noise was not bad at all. 2. Site had nice little patio and furniture with a small privacy fence around 2 sides. 3. Easy access to sites 4. Friendly desk attendant 5. Good water pressure in showers. 6.Campground area was clean. CONS- 1.This is most important. The hot water in the shower was only SLIGHTLY WARM. Seriously it NEVER actually got even close to hot water. Husband and I were in 2 different shower stalls of course, his did not get hot either. This was with the water turned all the way on hot, we both let it run on straight hot but it NEVER got past slightly warm. Maybe this wouldn't be a big deal in the warmer months, but it was in the 30's this night. We do not have a shower in our truck camper so we rely on campground showers. 2. The shower stalls are VERY VERY small. Possibly only 28" wide X 5' long. Without a tape measure I can not be sure of exact size, but they could not have been much bigger than that. 3. With a flip down seat in the drying area I could only stand with my back to the wall with the seat in front of me, no room at all to move around to dry or dress. I had to remove soap, shampoo, etc off the seat flip it up to dry and dress.

(I am a former backpacker and camping deep in the woods is more my thang) And then we saw the family that owns it, the very cute little playground, and other happy looking rvers and I decided to brush my city girl views aside and give this place a shot. I LOVED it. First of all my husbands initial plans were to just cross our fingers and hope for a first come first serve camping spot in another area. I politely asked for a place with hook ups given 3 out of the 4 family members have never gone on an rv trip. This was the place he found. I'm so thankful! The family here was so polite and kind, their daughter played with our kids, the facilities were super clean and well kept. Far exceeded my expectations. It is close to the freeway but that did not bother us at night and we all slept like a dream. Will stop here again on future adventures through Wyoming. I would add pictures but my kids are in all of them and that seems weird lol Highly recommend! High winds forced a road closure that made it impossible for us to keep a previously scheduled stay, so we called to explain the situation. The representative acknowledged the closure but told us we would not be reimbursed because we did not have "insurance protection." At no time during our many years with KOA were we required to purchase insurance, nor have we ever been denied reimbursement for circumstances beyond our control--especially when the company was already aware of the closure. Being told we were "outta luck" was unprofessional and unacceptable. We will not be returning to this KOA and will share this poor experience with other travelers.
