I reached out to a couple of designers before settling on Sera. Her design style & esthetic really spoke to me and when I met her I was instantly sold. She realized a vision for my small backyard which had been previously beautifully planted but required too much maintenance for my schedule and she came up with a design that spoke to my needs for something clean but visually interesting. She was very open to me sharing Pinterest inspiration and ideas to tweak the design to my style. Her team installed an incredible double sided cedar fence (I'm street-bound) and gorgeous paving broken up with hardy perennial planting. She is very open to working within your financial comfort zone and was very communicative throughout the entire process as the project progressed. Since the installation Sera has been great at reminding me to disconnect the sprinkler system and prepare for weather changes. I look forward to having her back in the Spring to help me re-set and enjoy the garden again this summer. read more

We used Red Fern for our backyard hard scrape transformation and couldn't have been happier with the result. From the initial consultation through the end of a 3-4 month project Sera was very hands on, accessible, communicative, professional, and thorough. We found her team as well as the subcontractors to all be very easy to work with, clean, respectful, and punctual. The project itself was very involved and included removal of an existing deck and fence, complete hard scrape, leveling, blue stone patio lay, new metal deck, bricking over an extension, installing a new fence, and finally garden bed installation with built in irrigation system. We would recommend Red Fern to anyone starting a garden or backyard project and will hire them again in the future. Run as fast as you can! The owner of this business will work with you and then drop the ball, just as the other person on this thread has stated. We've been in verbal contract with this business since last December (3 months) and literally 3 days before the project with a substantial budget was supposed to begin (and all preparations were made on our end of moving furniture, etc.), we got an email that she was quitting the job. She wasn't reachable by phone. This is not a good or even decent person. Zero professionalism or consideration for others. read more

I reached out to Sarah again about a month later and she said she needed another couple days. Never heard from her again. Don't waste your time. Very disappointed. Very unprofessional. read more

Sera and her team are miracle workers! They did a mid-summer clean up of my badly overgrown brownstone garden - the transformation is amazing! It looks so trim and tidy now, you would actually want to spend time back there. Power washing the flagstone and brick wall was a brilliant idea and it all looks brand new again!
